93 Cadillac Allante, Diamond In The Rough, No Reserve Listing on 2040-cars
Chagrin Falls, Ohio, United States
What a find! A Montana Blue 1993 Allante with the Northstar. Of all the roughly 21,000 Allantes ever built, there were only 151 made in this beautiful Montana Blue. Add the optional factory navy blue top and the $2,000 optional chrome wheels that were only offered on the 1993 and you have a collector's collector car. Only 111,000 miles and you can see this beauty was only driven around 5,000 per year!
Now here is a great story. I bought this car with the thought it was either going to be a great summer/golf/beach car or a daily work car…or both…or a project make money car. Well I have been told we are buying a house, and all "fun" cash is being called into the mother ship…so off to ebay we go. This car has sat and been neglected for a good deal of time. Let's talk about what is good. This month I drove this car from St. Louis to Cleveland, Cleveland to Columbus and back, and all around town for 2,100 miles this month. Let me tell you about the St. Louis trip. At 75 MPH on I-70 with the top up and the air conditioning blowing cold, this is one great ride. Throw in a torrential monsoon outside Indianapolis, and the nearly new tires held their own, the rear defrost works flawlessly, the top is whisper quiet and bone dry. In short, great freeway warrior. Step hard on the brakes and the anti-lock is perfect and there is no vibration or pulling whatsoever. What works? Where do I start. Cruise control, automatic temperature control, power windows and seats including lumbar support both sides, top pull down motors front and back, trunk pull down, stereo (don't know about CD) dash and interior lights, wipers and washers, including headlight washers. I changed the oil before and after the St. Louis trip and no signs of any problem. No discolor, no coolant, no odor. This car does not smoke, leak or overheat. It runs a little rough because it needs a tune up. What's wrong? After 2,000 miles the check engine light just came on, and the A/C now says it needs a charge. The car is getting 18 mpg so it probably needs a tune up. Still roars though. A normal person would replace the muffler, but it actually has a very nice ruble. I think the car was left out in the sun in Florida for its first 12 years because the clear coat is burned on the hood and trunk. No dents, dings or body work. The dash is also burned, but not warped. It will need to be dyed, or you can use the pretty blue cover that comes with the car. The dam on the front bumper apparently hit a curb and needs some tlc, but the body on the car, including the paint, is spectacular. Simply no rust or damage. The color is a show stopper. People are coming up to me in shopping center lots to ask about this car. Now for the interior. As you can see, the Florida sun was not very charitable to that beautiful leather. I honestly believe the original owner was a golfer or a sailor and just left the top down 24/7. It shows on the factory top, which I don't think was ever up, and which has a few stains but no tears, no wear, nearly flawless. If I was keeping the car, I would patch the leather for $300 but if you want a true classic you'll need to replace the leather. This car even has the add-on windscreen. You actually can drive with the top down at 70 and talk on the phone, it is that quiet. Bottom line is the car is a genuine fun daily summer driver as it sits, or it is a diamond in the rough. Put $3-5000 into this car and it will be a genuine $15,000 1993 Northstar Montana Blue Allante. Me? I gotta go buy a house. Send me some money and I will send you this Allante. Check out my ratings on ebay. No reserve. High bidder buys the car. This is not my first Allante sale. (I love these cars). And I have 100% happy buyers. Questions? Give me a call. 440 897 1286 |

GM Super Cruise beats Tesla Autopilot again in latest hands-free test
Wed, Oct 28 2020DETROIT — General Motors' Super Cruise once again edged Tesla's Autopilot in an evaluation of 17 vehicles equipped with active driving assistance systems (ADAS) by Consumer Reports, the testing organization said on Wednesday. A Tesla Model Y fitted with Autopilot finished "a distant second," the group said, to a Cadillac CT6 equipped with Super Cruise, which GM is rolling out to more than 20 vehicles — including its new Hummer electric pickup truck — over the next three years. Safety and insurance researchers have frequently warned of the risks of consumers overestimating ADAS systems' abilities, a misconception increased by some automakers calling their products Autopilot, ProPilot or Co-Pilot. In 2018, the Cadillac CT6 with Super Cruise scored higher than a Tesla Model 3 with Autopilot, in a Consumer Reports test of just four vehicles equipped with ADAS. In the latest test, conducted this summer on a track and on public roads, the Cadillac scored 69 points out of a possible 100, while the Tesla scored 57. A Lincoln Corsair equipped with Ford's Co-Pilot 360 system, finished third with 52. The critical difference in the Super Cruise system is a driver-facing infrared camera to make sure he or she is paying attention to the road and is ready to take over manual control when necessary, said Kelly Funkhouser, head of connected and automated vehicle testing at Consumer Reports. The group noted that Autopilot can shut off abruptly in some situations, while Super Cruise did a better job of notifying the driver when the system is disengaging. In recent European safety testing, a Tesla Model 3 with Autopilot placed sixth out of 10 systems, getting high marks for performance and ability to respond to emergencies, but falling short on its ability to maintain a driverÂ’s focus on the road. 2016 Cadillac CTS-V First Drive [w/video]
Fri, Jul 31 2015A million insects lost their lives today. Boxelder bugs and mayflies making the ultimate sacrifice in Elkhart Lake, their carapaces no buffer against a rocketing rectangle of safety glass. Their bodies gorily streaking into spangles along the diamond-faceted face of the Cadillac CTS-V. Road America is a four-mile ribbon of pavement snaking its way through the emerald center of the country's northern heartland. Since the 1950s it's seen uncountable fields of diverse racing machinery rocket over its hills and around its 14 corners. I would imagine that on those occasions the tramping of onlookers and hubbub of vehicles, both competitive and commonplace, would dissuade a great number of our six-legged friends from making their way onto the track. But today it's just me turning laps. Inconceivably just one journalist, driving the baddest roadgoing Cadillac ever made, on one of the loveliest circuits America has ever carved out. So big-winged bugs made it out to me in a vast array and a tragic sum, and I drilled through them oblivious to anything but one of the greatest days of driving I've ever had. Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster. For 2016 Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster worthy of the carnage described above. The words "epic" and "awesome" are hilariously overused on the Internet, but in the case of the CTS-V's 6.2-liter supercharged V8, their literal meanings are fitting. The capacity to produce 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque is astounding. Feeling those outputs come to growling life under my foot arch, uncorks different reactions in my brain as the day wears on: first trepidation, next cautious optimism, finally red-eyed bloodlust. A glance at the power and torque curves will show you that the charged V8 behaves more like a naturally aspirated thing than a turbo'd on/off switch. Peak torque arrives at 3,600 rpm, horsepower at 6,400, giving the engine lovely, linear power delivery. Even with top torque happening near the middle of the tach, there's no small amount of the stuff when the engine first spins up, so launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. Launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. On the roads around Wisconsin, using all of the available power is hardly advisable, but I have no trouble driving this fast car slowly (sort of).
GM recalling 54k Cadillac SRX, HD pickup models
Thu, 01 May 2014There are more recalls to report General Motors, but these latest actions pertain to newer examples of the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. With so much scrutiny on the company's recall strategy, GM is under increasing pressure to call in defective models more quickly, and it appears to be doing so here.
Here in the US, the automaker is recalling 50,571 Cadillac SRX crossovers from the 2013 model year fitted with the 3.6-liter V6 because the transmission control module programming can cause a three- or four-second lag in acceleration at low speeds. The explanation filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states, "if the following sequence occurs within two seconds: during an upshift from first to second gear (8-10 mph), the driver then brakes the vehicle to less than 5 mph, and then accelerates again," the delay can occur. According to Automotive News, the recall effects 56,400 vehicles worldwide, and the company is not aware of any crashes caused by the problem. The fix consists of a transmission control module (TCM) reflash.
In a separate recall, GM is repairing 51 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups from the 2015 model year in the US. In vehicles with diesel engines and dual fuel tanks, the nuts that connect the fuel pipe to each side of the transfer pump between the tanks may be improperly torqued, which could cause a fuel leak. Obviously, this could be a fire hazard. The remedy is simply tightening the hardware. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, there have been no fires actually caused by the potential leak. "Only 21 of the trucks are in customer possession and they can be fixed anytime because there are no parts involved. The others are being fixed at dealerships," Adler said in an email to Autoblog.
