Up for auction is a Pearl Red 1993 Cadillac Allante 2-Seat Convertible with the 32 Valve Northstar Engine. I purchased this car in early 2012 with the intention of doing a complete restoration. Unfortunately, I have far too many projects already and I'm going to let this one go. This car has 45,645 miles as of the listing of this ad and may change as I do like to drive the car a few times a week. From my search on the car and the information provided by the seller this mileage is the actual miles and the title reflects this as well. Most experts agree that the 1993 model will be the most collectible as it was the last year of production, included many upgrades and improvements over the previous years, and was built with the more powerful (295hp) 32 Valve Northstar engine. Here's some more facts and details on the Cadillac Allante:
- Cars were produced from 1987-1993. 21,430 total cars were produced and 4,670 were made in 1993.
- The bodies were built in Torino, Italy by Pininfarina (same as Ferrari) and then flown on a specially outfitted Boeing 747 back to Detroit for final assembly. The 747 was dubbed the "Airbridge" and Cadillac boasted the "Longest Assembly Line in the World".
- The Allante was built to compete with the likes of Mercedes, Jaguar, BMW and Lexus.
- The 1993 Allante had a Base Price of $61,675. The only options available were a hardtop, chrome wheels, digital dash and front license plate mount.
- The 1993 Allante was chosen as the Pace Car for the 76th running of the Indianapolis 500.
This car has the optional hardtop attached, but it is not the hardtop that came with this car. I purchased this one used and planned to have it painted to match the car (It is currently Polo Green and the paint is weak). The hardtops for 1993 are specific to that year only and they are getting very hard to find. If you can find them....they typically sell for $1,500 - $3,000....depending on the condition. The soft top is in good condition with no rips, tears or leaks. It is black in color, as they all were from the factory (even though tan would have probably looked better).
This car runs and drives great and has low miles. The Goodyear Eagle GT tires have 2,000 miles on them and the car has been freshly serviced. I would rate it at a 7.5 out of 10 as it is not perfect. The car appears to have sat for many years of it's life and the paint has several areas that have "stains" and "blemishes". It looks to me like maybe some tree sap or something was on the car in a few places and somebody didn't clean it off for quite a while and it marred the paint. There are also several "door dings" on the car and a few of them are not just little dings. The car looks great from 20 feet and shines up pretty nice. The interior is complete and is in pretty good condition. There's no rips, tears or major issues with the leather seats. The dash looks fine, but the previous owner put a carpeted dash pad on it. The carpet is covered in plastic and is in good condition. The trunk area is also very clean and has a new carpeted liner (with the Allante logo) installed.
The "bad"......The issues I know on the car:
- The "Service Ride Control" indicator comes on intermittently and there are error codes that indicate a "short" or problem. I've had a mechanic check it out and he says there's either a short in the wiring or a strut is bad and needs replaced. I've found a few companies that offer a solution to this issue and the Allante Owners Club advertises a solution as well. The car rides fine and there's no noticeable ride issue.
- The dash lights don't work. I have not even checked the fuses so it could be merely a fuse or a burnt out bulb. I also have a second "light switch module" if it is a bigger problem. I've read these modules have had some issues...so I went ahead and got another one just in case.
- The rear top motor isn't working right (thus the hardtop is being left on for now). Not sure of the cause....worse case a new pull down motor is $175-$350 depending on if you can find a used, rebuilt or a new one.
- The Radio works fine, but the CD player and cassette player do not.
- Very small oil leak. A few drops a month on the passenger side of the engine. Not sure where it is coming from....haven't even looked.
I'm also including the following items:
- Complete set of 4 Original Chrome Wheels (not mounted) with the Cadillac logo center caps.
- Hardtop (as mentioned above).
- Several brochures and books for the 1993 Allante. Includes original Dealer brochures.
- Complete set of Maintenance Manuals for the 1993 Allante. (There are 7 large binders of every aspect and detail of this car).
Bid with confidence as I have 100% Positive feedback and this is a No Reserve auction. Please see the details for shipping and payment for this vehicle. If you have additional questions and need to speak with me you can call me at 602-799-1922, but I have limited availability so leave a message if I don't answer and I will get back to you.

Cadillac HQ has a New York address
Sun, 16 Nov 2014The new home of Cadillac will be in the 330 Hudson building in New York City's Hudson Square, putting the luxury marque smack dab in the middle of three of the city's hippest areas, SoHo, Greenwich Village and Tribeca.
The announcement is yet another milestone in the company's controversial decision to relocate administrative and marketing operations away from Detroit and into the Big Apple.
"The addition of a headquarters office in New York is a key step in Cadillac's ongoing global expansion," Cadillac boss Johan de Nysschen said, according to The Detroit Free Press. "There is no better atmosphere in which to better immerse ourselves into luxury consumer and brand expertise."
Mary Barra thinks GM is a leader in autonomous tech
Thu, Oct 15 2015Saying General Motors is "among the leaders" in autonomous vehicle technology, CEO Mary Barra rapped about her company's driverless work in an interview with USA Today. Barra covered a number of topics, including well-known efforts, like Cadillac's upcoming Super Cruise technology, as well as hinting at "a lot of efforts that are confidential." "Things are moving quickly in autonomous [cars] because there's so many different pathways and the standards aren't even set. A lot of people can claim leads because people are making advancements in different areas," Barra said. "Next year we're going to have Super Cruise on one of our Cadillacs. On highways you'll be able to take your hands off the wheel and feet off the pedals – with a very creative way to make sure the driver is alert and involved in the driving process." As for those "confidential" efforts, feel free to speculate. GM has recently confirmed that it'd be running autonomous Volts at its Warren, MI tech center, which certainly indicates that the company is playing with much more than Super Cruise. GM will need to continue to embrace autonomous driving, owing to both traditional competitors like Toyota, as well as non-traditional opposition, like Google and Apple. Speaking of its competition from Silicon Valley, Barra was asked about two of the region's biggest names – Apple's Tim Cook and Tesla boss Elon Musk. "I have tremendous respect for Tim Cook, and I don't really think he needs advice from me," Barra told USA Today with a laugh. And when asked about Apple's future as a "viable competitor," she said, "I have no insights other than what I read in the papers. But it would be foolish for me not to assume that they're going to." As for Mr. Musk's openness about future products and how it contrasts with GM's relatively closed attitude, Barra also gave a chuckle. "I'm sure you would like me to say yes. I think we're fundamentally different. Look at our volume and look at the segments where we compete. His product line – his two products – his scale, it's completely different." The rest of Barra's interview is certainly worth a read, and includes talk about the Volkswagen diesel scandal, GM's changed relationship with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and Uber. Head over to The Detroit Free Press website for the full story from USA Today.
Cadillac SRX production moving to TN, next-gen Equinox going to Mexico
Fri, 29 Aug 2014It's a good week for the town of Spring Hill, TN, as General Motors has announced that its factory in the city of 31,000 will receive a $185 million contract to produce engines. On top of that, the next-generation Cadillac SRX crossover will be built at the factory (NA models are presently built in Ramos, Arizpe Mexico), which was once famous for being the home of GM's now-defunct Saturn brand.
The factory is one of GM's six facilities around the globe that will screw together the company's new line of three- and four-cylinder Ecotec engines. Spring Hill currently builds the 2.0-liter, turbocharged Ecotec, as well as the naturally aspirated 2.4 and 2.5-liter variants.
Spring Hill's vehicle assembly lines were idled in 2009, but were reactivated in 2011. The SRX is just one of the products meant to benefit from last year's $350-million investment, and should have a positive impact, creating or retaining around 1,800 positions at the factory.
