Here is the story on this Allante. If you see my large positive feedback I know how to describe things. This cadillac was purchased at bellevue cadillac in wa state where it has been its whole lift. In 1990 it was sold for $41,000 to the second owner who always had it serviced at cadillac dealerships expect for oil changes. All the receipts (seems to be everything ever done) were crammed in the glove box along with several of the original sales persons business cards. It seems he past away and left the car to his wife in 1998. Car had 79,000 at that point. It had 79500 when I acquired it from the estate. Amazingly the car started right up. I have driven it about 2000 miles so far and have had the following done at the dealer or a well established shop. Front brakes are resurfaced and new pads $150 . New rear calipers and rotors and pads. $475...Cleaned fuel injectors $150 new AC Delco pugs and wires $175 and a new fuel filter $185. New power source $100 (these fail causing light to flicker in instrument panel) New pioneer blue tooth radio with pioneer three way speakers (way way better than stock without the expensive head aches of all the mini amps) $300. New Airtex fuel pump $200. New AC compressor and belt $200. Just today had the new accumulator and new refrigerant put in. Way cheaper than the old expensive kind. $400. New drivers side window motor $100 and car was professionally buffed, waxed and the door handles and mirrors were autobody shop painted. So about $2200 put in. And these prices are me buying the parts online and using Autozone 20% specials and my mechanic puts them in. If you went to a typical shop it would cost much more, I did in the beginning have the GMC dealership inspect the Cadillac and that cost me about $200. I have all paper work and all parts are still under warranty. I have original manual and even the Motorola manual for the $1295 option cell phone in the glove box. I see many Allantes on here in the same price range but none have as much current maintenance work as mine. It leaks nothing at all, Runs fine all day in Seattle's current 90 degree weather and never runs hot, AC system is completely new, Has the cool old $1200 Vogue tires that aren't weathered and have plenty of good tread 80%, All power functions in the seats work, as do the headlight washers, cruise control and all lights in visors and thru out the car. No rust, no scratches or chips anywhere in any of the glass. Power mirrors function, Convertible top is like brand new and hard top is perfect. No stains in carpet or tears. Headliners in both tops are 100% perfect and rear defrosters work. Car starts perfectly ever time and never smokes anything even after sitting for a week. Only issues are the automatic trunk closer motor doesn't power on, the twilight sensor doesn't work and the brake light on dash is stuck on for some reason. There are dark spot in the information center screen but all Allantes seem to have this issue. Those are only issues in the whole car.. |

Jay Leno welcomes a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V into the garage
Tue, Nov 17 2015After checking out a multitude of classic cars and customs over the past few weeks, Jay Leno switches things up with a modern performance machine in the latest video from the garage – a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V. Leno is curious about Caddy's attempt to challenge the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S, and he takes a long, technical look at the sedan with chief engineer David Leone. Not content to just peek under the hood, Leno puts the CTS-V up on the rack to see what it packs underneath the svelte body. Once he gets the lowdown on the Caddy's engineering, it's time for a drive. Leno also flexes his interviewing skills while behind the wheel and gets even more info about the CTS-V's capabilities from Leone. He seems fairly impressed, but Leno's most entertaining question about the 640-horsepower sedan is whether it can do a burnout. He provides a definitive answer to that at the end of the clip. Cadillac reveals stretched ATS-L in China
Tue, 29 Jul 2014In the market for a new Cadillac, but need more space than an ATS can afford? Then you'll want to look at the larger CTS. Unless you live in China, where buyers - often chauffeured instead of driving themselves - seem to prefer a long-wheelbase version of a smaller sedan than upgrading to a larger one. For those buyers, Cadillac has released the new ATS-L.
Based on the existing ATS sports sedan, the ATS-L offers an extra 3.3 inches of rear legroom over the model we get here. As a result, the ATS-L stretches its wheelbase to 112.5 inches and its overall length to 186 inches, while riding a quarter-inch lower than the standard-wheelbase model, which itself was recently updated. That places its length in between the regular ATS and the CTS available Stateside.
Otherwise it's essentially the same sedan, but appears to ditch the base 2.0-liter four to offer either the 2.0-liter turbo four or 3.6-liter V6. Of course this model, produced locally for the Chinese market, isn't likely to make the transpacific voyage to US showrooms, so American buyers will still have to choose between the standard ATS, the larger CTS or the even larger XTS.
Weekly Recap: Auto execs face life in prison for recall delays under proposed legislation
Sat, 09 Aug 2014
The stiff punishments are part of broader transportation legislation, but clearly McCaskill has automakers in her sights.
Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill threw down the gauntlet this week, proposing a bill that could send auto executives to prison for life if they were found to have delayed a recall. She also wants to eliminate the limit for fines for auto safety violations, which are currently capped at $35 million.
