1987 Cadillac Allante
Convertible with removable hardtop
Rust Free
16,700 Original Miles!!
This beautiful car was just purchased from an estate auction and has averaged less than 700 miles per year since new.
Although the car has only 16,000 actual miles and has always been garaged, it will need some maintenance to get it to new condition. The tires are the original Goodyear Eagle GA 225/60R15's and have at least 80% tread remaining, but being 27 years old, they need to be replaced since there is weather checking on them. I would also recommend that the belts and hoses be replaced as well as the brake lines and pads. Time is not a friend to these items, so for safety sake plan on doing a tune up and having it all checked over before taking it out and driving it on a trip. We have driven it about 50 miles since buying it and have not had an issue, but plan on making it safe when you get it.
The paint shines nicely and there is absolutely no rust anywhere. There are 2-3 door dings but not terrible and a paintless dent repair shop will be able to get them out for less than $200. There are no other dents and there has been no other repair work done that I can see anywhere.
The hardtop comes off easily, and the black soft top fits fine. There are some wear marks on the soft top where it has rubbed on the convertible framework so if you want it perfect, plan on a new fabric top, but that is up to you.
The interior shows no signs of wear on the leather seats which is a miracle for this age of car. The carpet is good with no stains, the door panels are as new and the dash has no cracks. the only area that shows any wear at all is the rear package tray. There is weathering from time, but does not need replaced unless you want to make it perfect.
The 4.1 litre V8 engine has plenty of power and there are no knocks or rattles when running. It starts right up and does not smoke when satrting it or when driving. I would tune it up since it has sat for so long. I did have to charge the battery up when I bought it and it has started since, but I would replace the battery to make sure that it is new when you get it.
The glass is all good but there is tinting on the windows and there are some air bubbles forming in the tint that should be addressed.
There is a gravel chip on the left headlight lens, but the lights still work fine.
As you can tell, I am trying to be as specific as I can be so that there are no surprises when you get the car. It is in very good condition, and with some minor safety updates the car will make you a very nice collectible car that you can drive anywhere and be proud of.
We are selling the car at NO RESERVE, so there will be a new owner at the end of the auction. We have sold cars before the end of the auction from time to time so if you can't wait til the end, email us and we may make a deal.
We are located 60 miles southwest of Omaha Nebraska, or 20 miles south of Lincoln. Feel free to stop and take a look before you bid. I would tell you to fly here and drive it home, but with the age of the car, you will be safer to come pick it up, or have it shipped.
We have shipped cars all over the world and get some great shipping rates. Let us know if we can give you a shipping estimate.
We require a $500 paypal or credit card deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction, and payment in full within 3 days by cashiers check or bank wire.
The car is a real time piece, but since it is 27 years old, it is being sold as is with no written, or expressed warranty. We have over 8,000 positive feedbacks so you can be certain that we are describing it to our best ability.
Good Luck bidding!

GM recalling 54k Cadillac SRX, HD pickup models
Thu, 01 May 2014There are more recalls to report General Motors, but these latest actions pertain to newer examples of the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. With so much scrutiny on the company's recall strategy, GM is under increasing pressure to call in defective models more quickly, and it appears to be doing so here.
Here in the US, the automaker is recalling 50,571 Cadillac SRX crossovers from the 2013 model year fitted with the 3.6-liter V6 because the transmission control module programming can cause a three- or four-second lag in acceleration at low speeds. The explanation filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states, "if the following sequence occurs within two seconds: during an upshift from first to second gear (8-10 mph), the driver then brakes the vehicle to less than 5 mph, and then accelerates again," the delay can occur. According to Automotive News, the recall effects 56,400 vehicles worldwide, and the company is not aware of any crashes caused by the problem. The fix consists of a transmission control module (TCM) reflash.
In a separate recall, GM is repairing 51 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups from the 2015 model year in the US. In vehicles with diesel engines and dual fuel tanks, the nuts that connect the fuel pipe to each side of the transfer pump between the tanks may be improperly torqued, which could cause a fuel leak. Obviously, this could be a fire hazard. The remedy is simply tightening the hardware. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, there have been no fires actually caused by the potential leak. "Only 21 of the trucks are in customer possession and they can be fixed anytime because there are no parts involved. The others are being fixed at dealerships," Adler said in an email to Autoblog.
Despite strong profits, GM still fighting flat market share
Fri, Jan 17 2014Looking at the progress General Motors has made since it entered bankruptcy, it's easy to forget that the company still has a long way to go before it's the juggernaut it once was. A recent report from Reuters points out that, while GM is making money, it isn't making any gains in terms of US market share. Quite the opposite, really. Consider this factoid: In 1963, nearly half of the cars sold in the United States were from Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC or Pontiac. Now, the company's US market share is stagnant at 17.9 percent. That same number is half of just Chevy's 1963 market share. This is all despite GM going on a binge replacing or updating its models. "Market share increases are not instantaneous," Mark Reuss told Reuters at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. "We've got a lot of baggage. Don't underestimate what people though of us, or these brands, through these hardships and 30 years." The reasons for the stagnant market share are numerous. Reuters points out that retooling of factories and a focus on limiting incentives are both good things for profit, but not necessarily for market share. There's also the troubling turnover of the brand's marketing department. These issues don't change the fact that Chevrolet has lost 1.4 percent of its market share in two years, and that Cadillac - arguably GM's most improved brand overall - has lost 1.2 percent in the same period. Part of that can be blamed on GM's avoidance of fleet sales in favor of more profitable customer sales. "Our focus has really been on retail and that's where we've got the growth," said Alan Batey, GM's interim global marketing boss. "We want to grow GM and that means growing market share and profits, but it's not at all costs," Reuss said. GM’s Charlie Wilson was right: Stronger regulations can help U.S. automakers
Fri, Oct 26 2018Charlie Wilson had been the president and CEO of General Motors before being nominated to become secretary of defense by Dwight Eisenhower. During his Senate confirmation hearings, he controversially said, "For years I thought what was good for our country was good for General Motors, and vice versa." And he was right. While car companies aren't necessarily the most progressive when it comes to things that might have the slightest possibility of political blowback, General Motors should be credited for doing something absolutely forthright in this regard with its announcement that it wants the federal U.S. government not to squash the California Air Resources Board's emissions requirements but to actually create a 50-state "National Zero Emissions Vehicle" program that, in the words of Mark Reuss, executive vice president and president, Global Product Group and Cadillac, "will drive the scale and infrastructure investments needed to allow the U.S. to lead the way to a zero emission future." Filing comments to the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient Vehicles Rule for Model Years 2021-2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks is one thing. But a graphic the company developed for this announcement — shown above — is something else entirely, something that is absolutely credible, creative and clever. There is a photo of a Chevrolet Bolt EV driving along a highway, which seems to be in Marin County (based on the blurred San Francisco skyline in the background). Text on the photo states: "It's Time for American Leadership in Zero Emissions Vehicles." It seems to say, in effect, "If we want to make America great again, then we're going to do it by leading in technology, not by retreating behind weakened regulations." General Motors understands that the auto market is globally competitive, and if U.S.-based companies are going to be in the game, then they'd better be able to out-innovate the companies based elsewhere, where emissions and economy standards are not being weakened. What's good for our country ... Related Video:
