2019 Buick LaCrosse Sport Touring isn't that sporty
Mon, Jul 2 2018The 2019 Buick LaCrosse Sport Touring is presumably a new, sportier version of Buick's large sedan. And on the surface, it does look more exciting. It has less chrome trim than its counterparts, the grille gets a body color surround and a black wire mesh insert. It has a simple little spoiler at the back, 19-inch wheels, and the all-important badging. We can't imagine Ford is thrilled at the use of the "ST" nomenclature on display at the back, though. Unfortunately, Buick hasn't really done anything to actually make this car sportier than other LaCrosse sedans. It has the same 3.6-liter V6 found in other versions making the same 310 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. That power goes through the same nine-speed automatic as the others, too. Additionally, the Sport Touring is only available with front-wheel drive. Still, if you like the style, and the LaCrosse's standard performance is suitable to you, you'll want to know how much it costs. Base price is $41,220. You'll also have a choice of five colors: white, black, red, and two kinds of silver. And if the LaCrosse ST isn't sporty enough for you, you might want to check out the Regal GS. It has the same engine, but with a bit more torque, all-wheel drive, is in a smaller body, and has hatchback versatility. Why Buick's Encore wasn't a Chevy
Wed, 31 Oct 2012Buick is taking a gamble with its 2013 Encore. General Motors' near-luxury brand has enjoyed great success attracting conquest buyers to its larger Enclave crossover, but it has never offered something quite like this small CUV.
Very early signs suggest that the gamble might be working. According to Mark Reuss, President of General Motors, the automaker expected about 1,500 initial orders from its dealers for the Encore, but it's tracking closer to 9,000 units. Alluding to the fact that historically, Buick has shared similar products with GM's other brands, Reuss says that Buick dealers are "thrilled to have an exclusive." The automaker already markets almost identical models in other markets as the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka and Chevrolet Trax, but The General's other brands won't offer a twin to the new baby Buick.
The new Encore is based on the Gamma architecture that underpins the Chevrolet Sonic, and it shares the economy car's available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. With standard front-wheel drive and available all-wheel drive, GM says its Encore will be pitted against competitors like the BMW X1 and Audi Q3, both of which are much more expensive but also much more powerful.
Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee returns June 19, celebrates with new trailer
Thu, May 22 2014A brand new season of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee on the way - it will involve Seinfeld and comedian Robert Klein going to Sing Sing Correctional Facility in what appears to be a Jaguar Mark II - and the trailer is out now. In addition to Klein there'll be appearances by Sarah Jessica Parker, George Wallace, Aziz Ansari and John Stewart. We don't get to see all the rides, but a Buick Riviera GS gets some airtime and the 1949 Porsche 356/2 Gmund from the segment with Jay Leno makes a cameo.
