HISTORY: This Skylark was an original Black Plate California car. which has spent the last 25+ years in the dry desert areas of Eastern WA. Owner has spent thousands in recent professional restorations on this solid low mileage Skylark convertible. This car is fully licensed with current WA State tabs as a daily driver.

The Skylark was the top of the line model.

1964 was a new body design for the Skylark, and the Skylark Fireball V6 had been voted as “CAR OF THE YEAR”. In 64 the Skylark engine was upgraded to a 225 cubic-inch cast iron block V6, rated at 155 hp at 4400 rpm & almost 16 MPG. This rare survivor still sports its original NUMBERS MATCHING engine & the factory FIREBALL V-6 air cleaner. This is a factory Fireball Sport V6 convertible with AT, full power steering & tilt steering wheel. This was a custom order, DSO built in California.  Data Plate show 1–A for date, January 1st of 1964, along with a 2-2. DSO (Dealer Special Order) number of 11300.

71,836 miles, solid & rust free CA built Skylark Convertible…

I have added photos with carpets removed, to show the floor pans as amazing condition, showing very solid with not even surface rust. Everywhere I looked I have seen no evidence of rust as in CA and WA do not salt roads, and we do get amazing condition survivors like this one.  You can see the factory checkered mat glued down in the trunk. Note how solid and shiny metal under the hood, around the engine & under the trunk! There is a spare rally wheel and trunk accessories and the factory manual is still in the glove-box of this rare condition survivor.

Receipts show car recently tuned with new wires, plugs, points, cap, gas filter, new synthetic blend oil & Fram filter. You can also see the engine has been well maintained, refreshed with recent water pump, new hoses, belts and a new battery. We just added fluid to the convertible top system, and power motor works great. The new carpet was just installed and seat belts installed since photos were taken. The new boot just came out of the box, so the included trim clips still need to be added. The sporty 225-V6 engines are noted for good MPG, reliability, power & torque. Because these are based upon the V8 block, change overs are easy, along with Edelbrock aluminum intake manifolds, headers, carbs & dual exhaust systems to really make this a muscle type car if desired.

ESTATE SALE:  I am helping the owner clear an estate and move this classic vintage muscle car on to a new home. As such, I do not have full history, but being a classic car collector I can honestly say someone is going to get one heck of a classic muscle car in solid & original condition … a true head turner that is a great investment you can drive & enjoy!!

An investment quality vehicle you can have fun with… for weekend fun or show! The 1964 Skylark is one of the most sought after years, and the Skylark Convertible now books from $16500 to $26000 for fully restored examples based upon actual sales. ALL deals considered, if you have a But-It-Now type offer or any questions please call or text me at (206) 650-6100. Thank you!

TERMS OF SALE: Estate Sale sold as is. Any 50 year old original & vintage car will need further restorations, no owner or dealer warranty offered. This is not yet a #1 show car so please bid accordingly. Please ask questions prior to bidding. $1500.00 Deposit due at end of auction and balance within 5 days please. This is a 50+ year old vintage vehicle with a Clear WA Title in hand. Buyer is responsible for all transport costs and storage costs if vehicle held over 10 days; unless prior arrangement approved by seller. Please do not bid if you cannot pay.  As this is a final truck destination, cars leaving this area get inexpensive shipping quotes, and I can assist with bids if needed. Recently a similar car went to East Coast for $850.00, another CA for only $550.00. We are also close to major shipping ports for international sales.

Thank you for looking & Good Luck Bidding!

Repo man pays off elderly couple's car just in time for Thanksgiving

Mon, Nov 28 2016

Repo men get bad raps for a good reason; no one likes having their car taken away. At least one guy in the repossession game proved folks in his profession aren't all bad when he helped an elderly couple hold on to their wheels right before Thanksgiving. According to the Belleville News-Democrat, unexpected bills and the rising cost of prescription medications pushed Stanford and Patty Kipping's fixed income to the breaking point. Unable to keep up with the $95 dollar a month payment on their 1998 Buick, they fell into arrears and the bank sent a repo man out to their home in Red Bud, Illinois to reclaim the car. Jim Ford, co-owner of Illini Recovery Inc., hooked up the old Buick and dragged it away, but later that night his conscience caught up with him. "When I got home that night, I said to myself, 'They are a real nice elderly couple. I gotta do something. I can't just take their car,'" Ford told the News-Democrat. Ford did do something, something surprisingly humane. He set up a GoFundMe and, within just a few short hours, he raised more than $3,500 dollars. This was enough money to pay off the Kipping's loan with a little left over for some maintenance. Ford and a friend then hooked the car back up and towed it back to the Kipping's home. Ford presented the couple with their trusty Buick, and threw in a thousand dollars in an envelope and a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving. "It was a miracle come true," Patty told the paper. "We didn't know what we were going to do." "I got up this morning and I looked up at the sun and I said, 'I hope we get our car back,'" added Stanford. "It's just unbelievable."Related Video: News Source: Belleville News-Democrat Auto News Weird Car News Buick repossession repo man

GM CEO to meet with U.S. lawmakers over job cuts

Fri, Nov 30 2018

WASHINGTON — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra plans to visit Capitol Hill next week to discuss the company's plans to halt production at five plants in North America next year and cut up to 15,000 jobs, two congressional aides said on Friday. GM has come under harsh criticism from lawmakers from both major political parties, and from President Donald Trump, since Monday when it announced the biggest restructuring for the U.S. No. 1 carmaker since its bankruptcy a decade ago. Barra is expected to meet with lawmakers from Michigan and Ohio, where GM plans to shutter three plants, as well as senior leaders in Congress. GM did not immediately comment. Barra has been calling lawmakers this week to explain the decision to end production. Trump has threatened to revoke subsidies for GM. The Detroit automaker plans to halt production next year at three assembly plants: the Lordstown small-car factory near Youngstown, Ohio; the Detroit-Hamtramck complex in Detroit; and the Oshawa, Ontario, assembly complex near Toronto. It will also stop building several models now assembled at those plants, including the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, the Cadillac CT6 and the Buick LaCrosse. Additionally, GM plans to shutter the Warren transmission plant outside Detroit and a plant that makes electric motors and drivetrains outside Baltimore, Maryland. The Cruze compact car will be discontinued in the U.S. market in 2019, although GM may continue building it in Mexico for other markets, Barra said. Reporting by David Shepardson. Related Video:

2018 Buick Regal TourX vs. wagon competitors: How it compares on paper

Wed, Jan 31 2018

To the great joy of auto enthusiasts nationwide, wagons are back! Well, at least there's a few more of them. The latest is the 2018 Buick Regal TourX, which we just had our first drive of and found to actually be quite good with pleasant handling, solid power and plenty of space. But, how does the TourX compare to other cladded wagons? Well, let's dive into the specs and fire up the ol' spreadsheet maker for Buick Regal TourX vs Subaru Outback vs Audi A4 Allroad vs VW Alltrack vs Volvo V60 Cross Country. True, some are from mainstream brands and others are from luxury marques, but Buick straddles both realms, so it's appropriate to look at them all. Of course, there's more to these cars than just the numbers, but they're still important, and in the case of this class of crossover-aping wagons, can vary more than you'd expect. So check out the specs in the chart below, which are followed by more analysis and photos of each. Discover and compare other wagons and crossovers with our Car Finder and Compare tools. Engines and Transmissions When comparing powertrains, the Buick is far-and-away the winner as far as torque is concerned, and is in a nearly three-way tie for horsepower. Its 295 pound-feet of torque is 22 lb-ft more twist than the next-most-grunty Audi A4 Allroad. And in regards to power, the Buick's 250-horsepower engine is only down 6 hp to the most-powerful Subaru and its optional naturally aspirated flat-six, and just 2 hp less than the Audi. At the bottom of the pack is the Subaru Outback with the standard naturally aspirated flat-four, which only makes 174 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. That may not seem too bad compared with the VW Golf Alltrack, which only makes 170 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque, but the VW is much lighter by between 200 and 300 pounds. Transmission-wise, there's quite a bit of variation in the group. The Regal TourX and the Volvo V60 Cross Country rely on eight-speed automatics, all Outbacks use CVTs, and the Alltrack and Allroad have dual-clutch automated manual transmissions with six and seven gears, respectively. But for people that want to shift for themselves, the only option is the Volkswagen, which offers a traditional six-speed manual transmission on the Golf Alltrack. Cargo and Interior Space One of the main reasons to buy a wagon is for the body style's large cargo capacity. And for the most space for things and stuff, you'll want to check out the Subaru and the Buick.
