 1972 Buick Sun Coupe
Very Rare Model with Factory Sunroof and four barrel carburetor

You are bidding on an original three owner Southern California car with many options.  I am not sure of the exact production numbers but under 4,000 seems to be the word.  And I haven't ever gotten a number on how few were four barrel car's, since most were two.  I am the third owner and have owned the car for twelve years.  The car is equipped with a stock 350 cubic inch high output engine bolted to a stock turbo 350 transmission, tilt steering, cold air conditioning and 15 inch chrome rally wheels.  The Interior is in mint condition with very little to remind you that you are sitting in a forty year old vehicle.  The exterior and under carriage are rust free and straight.  The paint is faded but not thin and has some chips, but as you can see from the photo's it still presents very well and always draws much attention.  The car has new tires, exhaust, rear springs, front and rear shocks.  Stock air cleaner, and stock rear bumper come with the car.  The only body damage is to the passenger door as shown in photo, slight indention easily repairable.  Otherwise, this car looks great and runs great!  Has plenty of power and isn't a killer on gas.  Odometer is accurate but speedometer has a twitch at speeds over 60 mph.  Heater core should be replaced, its being by-passed currently, not a problem since the car hasn't been driven in rain or cold weather.  The factory sunroof opens wide and deep allowing for lots of sun but closes tight and eliminates road and wind noises at high speeds, remembering that they aren't exactly designed for heavy rains or snow.... Reason for sale, can't get the car out of the garage enough with weather back East and work hours.  You are welcome and encouraged to inspect this vehicle by appointment during the auction.  There will be no inspections after the auction ends!

Terms of Sale:  By bidding in this auction, you declare that you have read and accept the terms of this sale outlined by seller and ebay policy.  Please if you have any questions ask before you bid.  The sale is final at the end of the auction.  Please only bid on this car if you are a serious buyer and have the necessary funds available!  This car comes with a clear Pennsylvania Title.  Seller reserves the right to end this auction early.

Buick mulling more powerful Encore; diesel too

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

Looking to set itself apart in the mid-luxury segment, Buick is looking to introduce a diesel engine somewhere in its US lineup. And according to Edmunds, the two best chances of a diesel Buick rest with the Encore and Verano.
In both our First Drive and Review of the 2013 Encore, our chief complaint about the compact crossover was the the lack of power from the 138-horsepower turbo engine. Edmunds says that the recently introduced 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine (with both gas and diesel variants) from the Encore's overseas cousin, the Opel Mokka, could make its way into the Encore delivering the much-needed boost in power.
Then there's the Verano. As a close relative to the Chevy Cruze, which just added a diesel engine for 2014, the article speculates that a Verano Diesel might actually be the more "probably candidate" if and when Buick decides to add a diesel model to its portfolio. Either way, offering such an engine in one of its products could be a great way for Buick to differentiate itself from Cadillac and possibly even attract buyers from Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes-Benz looking for a luxurious, fuel-efficient vehicle.

The 2018 Buick Regal is now a hatchback and a wagon

Wed, Apr 5 2017

Buick has long been General Motors' most traditional brand. With the launch of the 2018 Regal, it's now arguably GM's most risk-taking brand. Buick is turning its midsize staple into a hatchback, called the Regal Sportback, and a wagon, the Regal TourX. Revealed Tuesday afternoon at GM's historic Design Dome in Warren, Mich., the cars will go on sale in the fall after next week's public debut at the New York Auto Show. "At Buick we can try things other people haven't tried," GM product chief Mark Reuss said. The wagon – though Reuss was reluctant to call it one – is a longer (3.4 inches), higher-riding (0.6 inches) version of the Regal Sportback. It's the first Buick wagon since the 1990s Roadmaster, and it's aimed at the seemingly never-satiated crossover market in the United States. View 12 Photos The TourX will compete against the Volvo XC60 Cross Country, Audi A4 Allroad, Subaru Outback, and BMW 3 Series wagon. The Buick offers up 73.5 cubic feet of storage space behind the front seats and is all-wheel drive only. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 250 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque that teams with an eight-speed automatic transmission. "It's something that is very different and very beautiful, and it's a good alternative for Buick to try," Reuss said. The Sportback, meanwhile, offers the same four-cylinder and eight-speed trans as the TourX in AWD trim. The Sportback also offers a front-wheel-drive model that uses a four-cylinder paired with a nine-speed automatic, and the engine is rated at 250 hp and 260 lb-ft in that setup. With swoopy creased styling, the Regal Sportback offers a slightly different riff on the crowded sedan segment, which GM says still has three million annual retail sales. On a side note, Saab fans might feel some old wounds at the sight of the hatchback Buick, as the 5-door 9-3 was axed by GM in an attempt to make the model more mainstream before the brand's demise. Both models will offer front pedestrian braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, OnStar and seven-inch or eight-inch touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As expected, the Regals are based on the Opel Insignia, and they will be built in Ruesselsheim, Germany. Reuss said GM plans to build the Regals there after the company sells Opel to PSA. He also said GM isn't concerned about potential border/import taxes that could be levied by the Trump Administration. "I don't know what the border tax is," he said.

Answering The $30,000 Entry-Level Luxury Question
Twenty years ago, a comparison between an entry-level Buick and Acura would have matched a Skylark against an Integra.
Twenty years ago, a comparison between an entry-level Buick and its Acura equivalent would have matched a Skylark against an Integra. The unfair battle would have resulted in the compact American's defeat in nearly every measurable category, as the Japanese competitor was arguably at the height of its powers.
