I have decided to sell my BEAUTIFUL 1972 Buick Skylark Convertible. I have owned this car for about a year and have had my fun so it's time for something else. The previous owner had the car for over 10 years. I am in my 50's and the previous owner was in his 40's. The car has not been beaten up.

This car is in VERY VERY GOOD CONDITION !!!

The odometer reads 75,990 miles. The car came from the factory without air conditioning.

The Skylark is blue with a black top and white interior (black carpet). The original color was orange. The body is very solid with only a few minor rust bubbles in the paint. The body is very, very solid for a classic in this area. Bring a magnet and you won't be disappointed. The paint looks reasonably good. There are a few chips in the paint and a light scratch on the trunk lid. The driver's door has a fairly large chip under the handle. The chrome should probably be redone as it doesn't shine like it should. Tail lenses could be replaced as well. The trunk is extremely solid. Unfortunately the previous owner removed the weather stripping between the windows and couldn't find it. So, it will need that. Some trim pieces are worn.

The white interior is in good shape. There are some tears at the bottom of the interior doors. The carpet, dash and glass look good.

The top is in very good shape also. There is only one small tear on the drivers side behind the back window --smaller than a dime. The convertible top goes up and down like it should. I did have to add a small amount of fluid this spring, There is a slight leak so it will have to be topped off from time to time. There is a white parade boot, but I couldn't figure it out, so I just drive without it.

Mechanically, I would trust this car to DRIVE ANYWHERE!! The engine is a 350 and I believe it to be the ORIGINAL ENGINE. I checked the numbers and they are correct. It always starts and sounds very mean. The transmission is automatic. There are full headers --no exhaust leaks-- to enhance your muscle car experience. The headers exit through flowmaster mufflers and a 2 1/2" exhaust. It drives nice and straight, and the brakes work fine. Wipers, heater, lights all work. The only thing I have noticed is that the left turn signal light sometimes stays on inside of the car --minor annoyance... Occasionally there is a small--very small leak on the garage floor --not much and not very often.

I have tried to explain everything about this classic honestly. Is it a show car? No. Is it a head-turning, fun to drive, reliable cruiser? Absolutely!! I honestly don't think you will find a Skylark, Cutlass, Chevelle, GTO, or LeMans Convertible in these years that is in anything close to this condition for this price. If you do, you should buy it. A little work could easily make her into a show car.

PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO. I have tried to show everything. See for yourself:

My reserve is VERY LOW on this car  . As always...cash talks...but this is a GREAT CAR AT THIS PRICE!!!   Again, look at what these are selling for and compare the condition.

If you are interested in this car, I strongly suggest the Buy-It-Now option so you do not miss out on it.   You will not be disappointed!!!

It will sell.

IF YOU SEE AND DRIVE THIS CAR, YOU WILL BUY IT !!!

CASH ONLY !!! NO CHECKS WHATSOEVER !!! CASH ONLY !!!

I might consider an INTERESTING trade. I would ask that if you want to trade something, please email me a picture and info first. I would rather not have 150 calls about trades I am not interested in.

Feel free to email or call me at:

I have a clean and clear IL title in hand for this car.  Yes, it is in my name --perfectly legal in all ways.  And, yes, I am a private seller.

I do require a $200 deposit upon auction's end.  Full payment is required within 7 days of auction's end or the car will be re-listed.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will I allow the car to leave my property until full payment is received and cleared.  If you want to arrange shipping, you must do so yourself and do not expect the car to leave my house until Full Payment has Completely Cleared.

PLEASE CHECK MY FEEDBACK AND BID WITH FULL CONFIDENCE !!!   100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK !!!

I am located 35 miles west of Chicago, 5 minutes off of I-88, 2 miles from the Aurora Airport -- Very easy to get to...

Don't buy that crossover! Buy a cladded wagon instead!

Fri, Nov 10 2017

If you're looking to buy a car soon, and you're like most Americans, there's a strong chance you're considering buying a crossover SUV. That's what people want nowadays. People like the tough, tall exterior that suggests adventure and preparedness, they like the high seating position, they like the all wheel drive many have and they like the practicality. Because of this, crossovers have rapidly supplanted typical cars such as sedans, wagons, and more as the most popular vehicles in the country. But they're compromised, too. They're often heavy, thirsty, and expensive compared with more conventional cars. The good news is, there's an alternative, a happy medium between the straight crossover and the traditional car. They're lifted wagons, and they're the best crossover SUVs around. And for those who may not know what we're talking about, we're talking about cars and wagons that have been given a suspension lift for more ground clearance and a higher ride height, and often have all wheel drive standard or optional. They also usually have chunky plastic body cladding to make them look tough and durable. Examples include the Subaru Crosstrek, Audi A4 Allroad, Buick Regal TourX, and Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, among others. Because of the suspension and body modifications, these vehicles fit the trendy crossover mold quite well. And in the case of long-running nameplates such as the Subaru Outback and Volvo Cross Country models, they even have some heritage as outdoorsy machines. They also provide the higher driving position that crossover buyers love. And in some cases, such as with the Golf Alltrack, we've learned they offer better ride quality than their road-oriented siblings. View 9 Photos So these tall wagons offer the key things crossover buyers want, but what makes them better than traditional crossovers is that they have the advantages of the cars they're based on. For instance, the aforementioned Golf Alltrack still drives mostly like a Golf, which is to say, it's nimble, feels peppy, and is easy to maneuver because of its relatively small size. We can't really say the same for the Tiguan, which feels generally more sluggish and uninteresting than the Alltrack. And we mention Volkswagen's compact crossover because it starts at nearly the same price as the Alltrack. Some of the difference in giddy-up can be explained by weight. Normal crossovers can be fairly portly, while these lifted wagons are notably lighter.

Buick mulling more powerful Encore; diesel too

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

Looking to set itself apart in the mid-luxury segment, Buick is looking to introduce a diesel engine somewhere in its US lineup. And according to Edmunds, the two best chances of a diesel Buick rest with the Encore and Verano.
In both our First Drive and Review of the 2013 Encore, our chief complaint about the compact crossover was the the lack of power from the 138-horsepower turbo engine. Edmunds says that the recently introduced 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine (with both gas and diesel variants) from the Encore's overseas cousin, the Opel Mokka, could make its way into the Encore delivering the much-needed boost in power.
Then there's the Verano. As a close relative to the Chevy Cruze, which just added a diesel engine for 2014, the article speculates that a Verano Diesel might actually be the more "probably candidate" if and when Buick decides to add a diesel model to its portfolio. Either way, offering such an engine in one of its products could be a great way for Buick to differentiate itself from Cadillac and possibly even attract buyers from Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes-Benz looking for a luxurious, fuel-efficient vehicle.

2018 Buick LaCrosse gets a mild hybrid model, lower price

Mon, Jun 5 2017

Update: Buick provided us with horsepower and fuel economy figures. The text has been updated to reflect this. Buick is rolling out a variety of updates for the 2018 LaCrosse, including a new mild eAssist hybrid. Like the previous generation LaCrosse and Regal eAssist models, this one features a small electric motor and an equally small battery pack that together augment rather than supplant the gasoline engine. The motor, attached to a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, helps to make takeoffs smoother and provide additional torque on demand. The gasoline engine still does the majority of the work, though. Combined, the powertrain produces 194 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque. It will also allow the LaCrosse to get 25 mpg in the city, and 35 mpg on the highway. While the electric powertrain doesn't provide primary propulsion, it does come with other benefits. The small battery means the LaCrosse maintains a folding rear seat. The battery also provides power to accessories when the engine shuts off at a standstill. This mild hybrid powertrain will be the standard engine for all 2018 LaCrosses, and they come with a lower base price. The 2018 model will start at $31,415, which is about $1,500 less than the lowest priced 2017 V6 LaCrosse. The V6 will still be available as an option, and Buick has updated it, too. The 2018 V6 models will also all come with a new 9-speed automatic transmission. The new LaCrosses will go on sale this fall. Related Video: Image Credit: Buick Green Buick Hybrid Luxury Sedan
