Up for auction is a 1971 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible project car. Just an FYI,this is a Connecticut vehicle and it comes with a transferable bill of sale/ official Connecticut registration. There is no title issued in the state of Connecticut for cars that are older than 1980.Check your own requirements for your state before you bid. Now,to describe the car to best of my ability. The floors and frame are in very good shape. There are no repairs to the frame that I can see.Assume the body has filler. It has a basecoat/clearcoat paint job that the last owner had done.It is driver quality at best and it has not been wet sanded. The jambs, trunk, etc. all match the exterior color. There is no visible rust on the body panels. The driver's door will need pins and bushings,as it does sag.Passenger door is fine. The back window is plastic and it is cracked/broken.What you see in the pictures is just some material used to cover it up and to keep out the elements. There is also a small split in the top on the passenger side. The convertible top motor works fine, but the cylinders are leaky and are disconnected. The top goes up and down manually just fine. It has a strong running Buick 350 2bbl (even the choke works) with a stock style dual exhaust. The motor appears to have been rebuilt as it very clean inside and outside as well.It also has an HEI distributor.Has power steering and power brakes.Trans is a TH350 that shifts just fine and the kickdown works as well.
The interior is not too bad.Dashpad has no cracks and the seats,front/rear door panels and carpet are in good shape.I have the lower rear "door" panels for the backseat but they are not in the best of shape. They have been cut for speakers and the material is coming off.
Gas gauge, horn and wipers do not work along with a few misc. bulbs. This is a project car that runs, drives and stops well.I would really like someone to see the car in person so there is no confusion. My reserve is reasonable.Hagerty values this car at $6100 for a #4 condition. (5 being the worst/parts car) I can assure that is not the reserve.you can reach me at 203-464-730 two if you have any questions.I do have some rocker moldings that will go with the car.I do not have any of the other trim.
Car is sold as is,where is.No warranties impressed or implied. Not responsible for differences in opinion/description. $200 non refundable deposit due upon auctions end.Balance to be paid in cash or local bank check. Can store car for up to 10 days from auctions end unless previous arrangements are made.I have described the car to the best of my ability. Can be viewed at anytime via appointment.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
GM recalling 1.4 million older vehicles for oil leak fire risk
Tue, Oct 27 2015General Motors is recalling 1,411,332 older vehicles with its 3.8-liter V6 yet again due to a fire risk. Specifically, there are 1,283,340 of them in the US, and the affected models are the: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 1997- 2004 Buick Regal The fault with these vehicles is that oil can drip onto the hot exhaust manifold during hard braking, which can potentially cause of fire. In the last six years, there have 19 reported minor injuries from this problem but no crashes or fatalities, according to the company. Spokesperson Alan Adler also told Autoblog: "GM has reports of 1,345 fires in vehicles that were repaired under two previous recalls for this issue." At this time, GM is still developing a remedy for the problem. According to Adler, the company advised owners to park these vehicles outside for the previous recalls. "The cars can be safely driven. In cases where a customer reported an engine fire while driving, smoke was reported, which would be an indication of a malfunction," he said. This is GM's fourth recall for this problem since 2008, according to The Detroit News. At one point it was believed that aging valve cover gaskets allowed the oil to leak out and drip onto the manifold. A campaign in 2009 covered nearly 1.5 million of these models through the 2003 model year for the same issue. At the time, dealers installed new spark plug wire retainers as a fix. Related Video: GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 1,283,340 older sedans and coupes in the U.S. from the 1997 to 2004 model years because drops of oil may be deposited on the hot exhaust manifold through hard braking, which can cause engine compartment fires. GM is working on a remedy. The company is aware of post-repair fires in some vehicles but no crashes or fatalities. There have been 19 reported minor injuries over the last six years. These vehicles with 3.8-liter V6 3800 engines are affected: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997-2004 Buick Regal. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population is 1,411,332.
GM laying off 510 amidst slow Cadillac, small car sales
Wed, 12 Nov 2014General Motors is laying off about 510 workers from two factories beginning in January, and it could be months before the automaker needs some of that latent capacity to come back on line. A combination of poor sales and high dealer inventories are prompting the cutbacks, according to Automotive News.
The largest changes come at GM's Lansing Grand River plant, where the Cadillac ATS and CTS are made. An entire shift of about 350 workers is being laid off, but the automaker hopes to find positions for some of them at other nearby factories. The decision leaves just a single shift building vehicles there. According to Automotive News, the move is partially spurred by Johan de Nysschen's plan to make Cadillac a more exclusive brand.
The lost shift will likely return for production of the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro at the plant, according to the report, but GM isn't saying when that will be. A previous announcement from the Canadian Auto Workers union indicated that the Oshawa, Ontario, factory would lose the coupe in late 2015 or early 2016.
