I reserve the right to take this listing down if I get an offer and I accept it.

I bought this car from a private seller about a year ago. I love this era and this model type, but I really wanted a convertible at the time, but I jumped in and bought this one. The interior is brown leather/ cloth and brown carpet. Radio is aftermarket  (but does not fit very well and is loose in the hole). The mileage is approximately around the 70,000 miles mark. I have the original window sticker and other original booklet and documentation. V8, 350 engine, 2 barrel. When I bought it, the headliner was new but the seem split during the summer because I left it out in the sun when it was hot (I know, bad on me!) but I think it would be an easy fix. The interior is allegedly original by the guy I bought it from, but it does look a little too good to be original. Other folks have looked at it and suggested it has been redone. I have driven this thing to Nashville (from Alabama) and back in the winter, so it is a good driver. However, recently there was some smoking going on and it seemed there was some oil leaking. I had a mechanic look at it, and he said that there was a screw loose and oil was seeping through the seal. He tightened the screw and said I just needed to pressure wash off the excess oil and the smoking would stop. I haven't done that yet-I was afraid to put water near the engine parts. Overall, he gave me a clean bill of health on the engine. When I bought the car, it would take a minute to start it because you had to pump the gas twice and really feather it and give it time to idle first. My mechanic corrected that a lot by replacing the spring switch for the throttle. Still, as with any cars of this age and era, you have to feather the gas and "learn" how to start and get it going. The car has probably been repainted, according to the mechanic, due to overspray in the trunk. There are a couple of lines of rust-colored stain on the sides -where when it rains, the water comes out from under the top on that side where a small, quarter-inch size rust spot is right underneath the roof cover (see pics). I think it would be easy to buff it out. Any other questions just email me. I love the car, but its time to move on and find a convertible version. There are small flecks, dings, and rust spots as you would expect. Images should make them clear.

RESERVE IS SET at $4,500 because that is how much I still owe the bank. I had financed it for $6,000.

GM recalling 250,000 SUVs over door electronics

Mon, 20 Aug 2012

After a door-fire investigation that dates back to February, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced a recall today that affects around 250,000 General Motors SUVs for a faulty driver's door module. The recall applies to the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for vehicles sold and/or registered in the Snow Belt.
Road salt use in these midwestern and northern states can lead to corrosion of the driver's door module on these GMT360 and GMT370 vehicles, which allows water to come in contact with the circuit board. If shorted out, the vehicle's power door locks and power windows will not work, and could possibly lead to overheating and, in some circumstances, a fire. No official word on how many total vehicles caught on fire, but back in June, 28 fires had been reported to the government agency. A fix for the problem is still being worked out, but all affected vehicle owners will be notified by GM.

Small number of 2013 Buick Encore models recalled for loose steering wheel

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

General Motors has issued a recall and a stop sale for the 2013 Buick Encore due to an issue that could result in the steering wheel falling off on certain models. In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM says that 144 Encores equipped with heated steering wheels could have been incorrectly retrofitted due to a parts shortage.
Needless to say, a loose or separated steering wheel would likely cause an accident if it happened while the vehicle was in motion. The recall doesn't go into effect until April 12, but concerned Encore owners can use the official recall notice (attached below) to contact GM.

Hyundai, Buick dealer apologize in wake of Chinese baby social media incident

Sat, 09 Mar 2013

A very strange story out of China today, as Hyundai and a Chinese Buick dealer were forced to face allegations of using allusions to an infamous child murder on a social media site as a way of promoting the safety features of their respective vehicles.
The original sad tale goes something like this: On March 4, a man reported to police that he had left his infant child in a running Toyota RAV4 while he ran into a supermarket briefly. When he came back out, the vehicle and the child were gone. Later in the week a suspect turned himself in to the police; confessing to them that he had stolen a sport-utility vehicle, strangled the infant that was in it, and then buried the child in the snow.
As you might imagine, the gristly incident was covered massively in the Chinese media. (There was huge public outcry as well, as evidenced by the vigil scene, above.) "Changchun baby abduction" was very quickly amongst the highest ranking search teams of the China's Weibo social media site - an equivalent of Twitter in the English-speaking world.
