1966 Buick Skylark GS (Gran Sport) bought new in May 1966 by my grandparents. I bought the car from them in 1991. Equipped with original 401 Nailhead (445 Wildcat) engine and ST400 (Turbo 400) 3 speed automatic transmission from a 66 LeSabre converted to normal torque converter and pump from switch pitch. Original ST300 2 speed transmission is included. Car was originally painted red with a white painted, not vinyl, top. Car was repainted once in the 1980's and is faded pretty badly. The pictures that show the paint all shiny were taken when the car was wet. The top has quite a bit of surface rust. Both front and rear window frames are rusted through at base of both and this has caused some corresponding rust in the footwells and trunk floor. Car was hit in the right rear corner shoving the tail panel and quarter panel forward. Several body guys have looked at the damage and all say this can be straightened instead of replacing the panels. The rest of the outer body is in great shape. Passenger door has a small rust spot on bottom rear corner. Rest of doors, fenders, quarter panels, and hood are solid with no rust. Glass is all good with 2 minor rock chips in windshield. Trunk lid and rear bumper have been replaced. Both bumpers are straight. Interior is pretty rough and needs almost everything replaced. Bottom end of engine was rebuilt in 2001 with a replacement crankshaft and new bearings. Transmission was changed to the 3 speed in 2005. Car was my daily driver from 2001 to 2009 and has been parked since then. Car starts and runs but I recommend trailering it home.It overheats (Nailheads were known for running hot) and needs pretty much everything rebuilt. Brakes, springs and shocks are worn out. I require a $500 deposit by paypal within 24 hours of auction end and the rest of the payment by cashiers check or cash when you pick up the car. Car is located in Callahan, Florida just north of Jacksonville. I have a few parts with me in Vancouver, Washington including the original carb and air cleaner, a few replacement trim pieces and a set of bucket seats out of a 66 Pontiac that I will include for free if the buyer wants them and pays for shipping of these items to their location.

The 2018 Buick Regal is now a hatchback and a wagon
Wed, Apr 5 2017Buick has long been General Motors' most traditional brand. With the launch of the 2018 Regal, it's now arguably GM's most risk-taking brand. Buick is turning its midsize staple into a hatchback, called the Regal Sportback, and a wagon, the Regal TourX. Revealed Tuesday afternoon at GM's historic Design Dome in Warren, Mich., the cars will go on sale in the fall after next week's public debut at the New York Auto Show. "At Buick we can try things other people haven't tried," GM product chief Mark Reuss said. The wagon – though Reuss was reluctant to call it one – is a longer (3.4 inches), higher-riding (0.6 inches) version of the Regal Sportback. It's the first Buick wagon since the 1990s Roadmaster, and it's aimed at the seemingly never-satiated crossover market in the United States. View 12 Photos The TourX will compete against the Volvo XC60 Cross Country, Audi A4 Allroad, Subaru Outback, and BMW 3 Series wagon. The Buick offers up 73.5 cubic feet of storage space behind the front seats and is all-wheel drive only. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 250 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque that teams with an eight-speed automatic transmission. "It's something that is very different and very beautiful, and it's a good alternative for Buick to try," Reuss said. The Sportback, meanwhile, offers the same four-cylinder and eight-speed trans as the TourX in AWD trim. The Sportback also offers a front-wheel-drive model that uses a four-cylinder paired with a nine-speed automatic, and the engine is rated at 250 hp and 260 lb-ft in that setup. With swoopy creased styling, the Regal Sportback offers a slightly different riff on the crowded sedan segment, which GM says still has three million annual retail sales. On a side note, Saab fans might feel some old wounds at the sight of the hatchback Buick, as the 5-door 9-3 was axed by GM in an attempt to make the model more mainstream before the brand's demise. Both models will offer front pedestrian braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, OnStar and seven-inch or eight-inch touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As expected, the Regals are based on the Opel Insignia, and they will be built in Ruesselsheim, Germany. Reuss said GM plans to build the Regals there after the company sells Opel to PSA. He also said GM isn't concerned about potential border/import taxes that could be levied by the Trump Administration. "I don't know what the border tax is," he said.
Facelifted Buick LaCrosse caught in China
Tue, 01 Jan 2013Back in September, General Motors promised nine new or refreshed models for its Buick and GMC brands within 12 months, and while we've already seen what the updated 2014 GMC Sierra will look like, we're now getting our first look at what appears to be the facelifted 2014 Buick LaCrosse. Judging by a set of spy shots posted on Autohome showing a Chinese-market model, the updated sedan is getting a pretty big makeover, including a completely redesigned interior and a refreshed exterior.
From the outside, all of the usual midcycle updates have been made to the LaCrosse, including new lights and fascias. The new front end features a larger, reshaped seven-sided grille, LED-trimmed headlights and Buick's signature portholes are now mounted on the side edges of the hood to be more visible. The rear view has similarly small yet refined changes such as the new decklid with a chrome brow that stretches the full width of the car, to a more squared-off rear fascia with exhaust outlets pushed out to the corners. From the single shot we can see, the LaCrosse's new rump looks very similar to the Hyundai Equus.
The second-generation LaCrosse helped reestablish Buick as a near-premium automaker with its interior quality, and the next model could very well up the stakes even more. The new cabin design ditches the wraparound wood trim on the instrument panel and door panels for a smoother, more contemporary look. While it's hard to make out all of the changes, we can instantly see that the center stack is now more upright with fewer buttons, but the biggest news might be the cabin technology the 2014 LaCrosse might offer. Checking out the shot of the center console, we see what looks to be a pad similar to the handwriting recognition technology used by Audi, which would make this a first for GM.
