1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport . This car was restored in 1991 by a BCA ( Buick Club of America ) member in Wisconsin . At that time he rebuilt the engine and transmission , put patch panels in body , floor and trunk pans , replated the bumpers , replaced the interior with NOS parts and added the engine dress-up package . The car came from the factory with undercoating and after he added the patch panels he added the necessary undercoating to match . It was then painted it's original color Burgundy Mist Base Coat / Clear Coat . This work was done by a person that knew Buick's and his work is excellent . The car was then sold to another BCA member in Wisconsin who showed the car a few times and then stored the car in his barn for about 7 years due to other Buick projects . While in storage it was parked in a insulated , concrete floor barn and covered . Due to health problems he sold the car to the current owner in 2006 .
The current owner in 2006 replaced the entire brake system and booster , heater core , tires on 14" wheels , all belts and hoses , rebuilt the carburetor and distributor ( added Pertronix ) , new trunk and floor mats , added a rear sway bay , replaced the cracked steering wheel ( it seems all '65 Buicks had cracked steering wheels ) with a original type reproduction , and installed a Magnaflow exhaust system . The cars shows about 8565 miles which is then unknown mileage . We think when the car was restored the mileage was then set back .
The car was then buffed out to clean-up the storage dirt and now shows very well . The paint is not perfect and shows some signs of it being painted many years ago . It still shows well at local car shows and would be considerd a high 3 car but if your going to show it at Autorama or expect to get Barrett-Jackson dollars it would need to be painted .
This is a true 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport that is all numbers matching with power steering , power brakes , Super Turbine 300 automatic transmission , tinted windows , back-up lights , tach in console , am radio , 3:08 open rear end with original NN Burgundy Mist paint and black bucket seat interior .
Built the 3rd. week of June in Flint , Michigan . As you might know there were only 7,670 Gran Sport Hardtops built with the automatic transmission of 15,780 total Gran Sports built in 1965 . This is a very well maintained car and at this price it's a true value .
The car is located in Prescott , Arizona and is available for inspection by appointment . Local pick-up only . Should shipping be required the cost and arrangements must be made by the buyer with proper notice to the seller . $500.00 non-refundable deposit required by PayPal within 24 hours of auction end . Balance of payment must be made by wire bank transfer or verified cashiers check prior to pick-up . Should you have any questions please call 847-757-6749 and keep in mind Arizona time zone .

GM cutting Chevy Sonic, Buick Verano production [UPDATE]
Sun, Jan 25 2015UPDATE: A previous version of this story indicated that Orion Assembly would be idled for seven weeks, from February 16 through April 6. This was incorrect. The factory will instead only be idled for the weeks of February 16 and April 6. The story has been edited to reflect this. General Motors has announced that the factory responsible for the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Sonic will be idled for the weeks of February 16 and April 6, with blame being placed on excess supply. The Orion Assembly plant, about 45 minutes north of GM's Renaissance Center headquarters, employs about 1,800 people, but they'll be given a pair of furloughs as inventories of the sub-compact Sonic and premium compact Verano reach 127 days and 84 days, respectively. That works out to 26,600 Chevys and 9,800 Buicks waiting for buyers. According to Automotive News, the compact Chevy sales bested the industry average in 2014, jumping up nine percent versus the the overall segment's eight-percent gain, while the Buick sedan's sales were down four percent. When asked about the shutdown, a GM spokesman told AN that it will "build to market demand," while also pointing out that the company did not comment on production plans. Buick to kill Verano as early as 2017
Mon, May 9 2016The Buick Verano's days are allegedly numbered. Citing unnamed sources, Automotive News is reporting that Buick will kill its Delta-platform-based sedan. The company offered the typical "no comment." According to AN, Buick is expecting 70 percent of its sales to come from the Encore, Envision, and Enclave once the Envision goes on sale. And it doesn't take a professor of economics to recognize that when half the vehicles you build account for just 30 percent of the sales, it's time to trim. But the case for killing the Verano is a weird one, because the problem isn't a lack of demand. Struggling sales might be the reason to kill a car, but the Verano is – and has consistently been – Buick's second best-selling sedan. It's beaten the slightly larger, more expensive Regal by at least 12,000 units in each of the last four years. Hell, in 2013, Buick sold 45,000 Veranos to fewer than 19,000 Regals. So why not kill the Regal? Well, the Verano's raison d'etre is irrelevant today. Buick launched its smallest sedan at a time when premium compact four-doors weren't a thing and gas prices were high enough that consumers were still hesitant to tie themselves to a CUV's fuel bill. And while it was roughly the same size as the Chevrolet Cruze that it shared GM's Delta platform with, it had enough unique equipment to stand apart and warrant its price premium. Today, fuel prices are cheap and consumers are flocking to crossovers while Buick is stuck sharing the premium compact pie with much more prestigious names ( Mercedes-Benz and Audi). And because it's sharing showroom space with the super-popular Encore, even the Verano's affordable pricing has become a liability. Today, a lightly equipped Verano is the same price as a base Encore, and they offer broadly similar features (rear-view cameras, a seven-inch touchscreen with Intellilink, Bluetooth, etc.). And if the Encore is too small, there's probably a GMC Terrain sitting in the same showroom, offering more utility and equal equipment to the Verano for a similar price. As one dealer told AN, "For not much more money, customers can get an SUV." Killing the Verano might risk 30,000 to 40,000 sales, but it's a move that proves Buick has tremendous confidence in its CUV lineup – clearly the company thinks the Encore can do the job of luring customers into showrooms. AN's sources claim the Verano will survive through 2017, so we'll be waiting a few years to find out if that faith is misplaced. Related Video:
2016 Buick Cascada convertible isn't afraid of Detroit's snow
Mon, Jan 12 2015It's the great irony of introducing a convertible in Detroit – while the assembled media might look at the car and imagine warm weather and clear skies, the atmosphere outside is anything but. Such was the case Sunday as Buick rolled out the 2016 Cascada in Detroit's Eastern Market. Snow didn't dampen the atmosphere, though, as we clapped eyes on the sleek, Astra-based convertible for the first time. While this is far from the first product Buick has borrowed from General Motors' European operations, unlike previous vehicles, changes for the Cascada were kept to a minimum. There is no waterfall grille or four-way portholes, which Buick was sure to install when converting the Insignia and Mokka to the Regal and Encore. Then again, neither of these styling treatments were really necessary, as the Cascada remains a handsome and stylish offering. Its cabin is typical of other Buicks, and features a few too many buttons on the center stack. Still, a thick-rimmed, flat-bottomed steering wheel, similar to what's found in the Verano, is both attractive and functional, while the perforated leather seats looks quite comfortable, as well. Take a look at our gallery of live images, which includes shots of the Cascada with the top up and down, and then head back to our original post on the new convertible for all the mechanical details.
