MILEAGE & RUST FREE CALIFORNIA CAR HISTORY:
This rare bird has an unusual history & custom build. It was discovered
many years ago, barn type find that was stored away, missing some handles, trims,
window & rear seat… but was a solid
and low mileage California Black Plate vehicle. The new owner had visions of
making a show level car that was never completed. Ownership was again transferred
in 2012, and has now slowly come back to life... waiting now for final
restorations. Over last few years it has received a full body strip and new
quality OEM Buick FLAME RED color paint. Factory rear seats were found, rebuilt
& recovered with new paddings & OEM materials. The rear upper side
panels and armrest panels were also professionally recovered. This Skylark is completely rust free and was documented as
having 41,000 actual miles. It is believed to be a rare & special order
vehicle. NEEDS
FURTHER COMPLETIONS & RESTORATIONS: Over 90% Completed: NEEDS AT transmission
seal, window & door assembly & arm rest installations & complete new
convertible top assembly. FACTORY V8 RUNS VERY SMOOTH & STRONG. This car has run & driven nicely… but from sitting, has a dry transmission seal and needs the front seal replaced prior to usage. Local shop has estimated under $350.00 parts & labor. The prior owner was in process of doing convertible top repairs, and years ago had placed a new black vinyl top onto the top frame but never completed the job. Plan on a whole new top assembly for the car & electrical top motor which is missing. The OEM convertible latch handles are off the frame but are included. The rear plastic top window is still rolled up and dirty from sitting around for years. Car may have been ordered with a white or saddle tan top when it was new? The driver’s side window that was missing now has a replacement OEM window that is included with the car. The wing & window and window track systems will need to be installed. New door handles were found, replacement antenna & included armrests need to be put onto the car. New battery also installed. When complete a #2 condition Skylark V8 Sport Covertible books at close to $26,000.00 depending upon options & color... #1 at $35K++ SPECIAL ORDER/DSO VEHICLE - Data Plate & VIN
Informations: Please
see photo of DATA PLATE & Analysis below. There are many unknowns about
this rare car. It was a DSO Special Order Vehicle. It had NO PAINT CODE. You
will see a star in its place. We uncovered some Metallic Gold flake paint
around all of the upper inner fenders. It did not match any standard 1965 paint
colors? The paint under the hood and trunk was not repainted, and looks
original flame red color from many years ago? This Special Order car came with
a very rare package of buckets & floor shift console. It was first thought
maybe car was an early GS/ GRAND SPORT optioned vehicle. The GS option was
mid-year option, not yet a model, but this car has the 300 V8 & a vintage
Wildcat 310 air-cleaner. The car has
factory style dual exhaust. The DATA PLATE TRIM Number of 128 is listed only in
the GS Directory as black vinyl GS bucket
seats. The last line on the DATA Plate is for accessories. It is loaded with
accessories noy yet decoded: 2XGP-4F-5W . There are other sets of letters
also not been decoded as of yet. 1965 Buick Skylark VIN: 444675H266565 DATA PLATE: GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION 05B ST 65-44467 FB 207399 BODY TR158 N2 * PAINT (accessories) 2XGP-4F-5W FROM: http://enthusiast.yearone.com/vehicle-info-decoding/gm-body-tag-decoding/
ACCESSORY
CODES: On
1967-and-earlier models only, there may be accessory codes listed on the data
plate. These codes indicate certain options on the car. Some of these codes
have been decoded on Chevrolet and Pontiac vehicles, while Buick and Olds are
still a mystery. The following types of equipment have been listed on data
plates that have been decoded: tinted glass, transmission, console, air
conditioning, radio, mirrors, rear defroster, seat belts, and bumper guards. FB = assembly plant 207399 = unit number / Trim 158 seat type =

have been told by “Buick” guys that there were a very limited number of early
year Sport 300 convertible models produced, this Skylark loaded out as a GS may
have been done before the “ GS Option” was available. Some of these rare SPORT
version convertibles were custom dealer
orders and some were done early for preview of 1965 Buick models. It is
believed this car was built as a rare SPORT 300, prior to GS being optioned mid
year. SHOW & GO!! THIS IS A RARE OPTIONED

GM will recall more than 3.3 million vehicles in China for suspension defect
Sat, Sep 29 2018BEIJING (Reuters) - General Motors' joint venture in China, Shanghai GM, will recall more than 3.3 million Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles stating Oct. 20 because of a defect with the suspension system, China's market regulator said on Saturday. GM Shanghai said in a text message to Reuters that the suspension arm may be deformed under extreme operating conditions, but there are no known casualties related to the issue. The recall includes cars produced between 2013 and 2018, the State Administration for Market Regulation said in a statement. GM will contact those affected and repair the vehicles free of charge, it said. Mark Reuss: GM can't afford product 'misses,' has 'thought about' CT6 V-Series
Thu, Apr 9 2015Mark Reuss is a busy man. He oversees General Motors' global product portfolio, an all-encompassing task for a company that sold more than 9.9 million cars and trucks last year. When GM launches a well-received product, like the road-going rocket ship that is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – he gets credit. When the company stumbles with the slow-selling Chevy Malibu or grapples with fallout from the decade-old Saturn Ion and its flawed ignition switch, he gets blamed. GM owners, the press and sometimes the federal government, demand answers. Bob Lutz famously held the job before Reuss. So did Mary Barra, who's now GM's chief executive. There's a New GM, but the lineage is connected to a long history. When he's not thinking product, Reuss, an executive vice president, also runs the purchasing and supply chain for the company, which is still one of the largest industrial empires in the world. We caught up with Reuss on the floor of the New York Auto Show, where GM had just rolled out two crucial new products: the 2016 Cadillac CT6 and the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Speaking with a small group of reporters, Reuss delved into a variety of subjects, including the new Malibu, Cadillac's future (he thinks the ATS-V is going to "flame the M3 and M4"), and other topics. On fixing the Malibu: "We can't miss. We can't have those kinds of misses [like the previous generation] on our cars and crossovers and trucks. We can't do that. If we do that, we give a reason for someone to go buy something else. It's that simple. "On a car like the Malibu we have a chance to really fix all of that, which we have, and then lead. Then you've got a real opportunity there. So that's what we've really been focused on here – to fix those things." He later added: "We need that car here to transform Chevrolet desperately because it's the heart of the market. And when you think of Chevrolet, people will come back and think about what we did with the [new] Malibu and the Cruze... It's hugely important to us." On Cadillac: "If we go out and try and out-German the Germans, it's probably not going to work. We've got an opportunity here generationally where there's a lot of people younger than me that have parents that drove BMWs and Mercedes, and I think there's an opportunity there for those people to drive something different than what their parents did, and I think that's always been an opportunity in the auto industry if you look at the history of it.
Buick Enspire spied for the first time, loses concept's electric powertrain
Thu, Jun 13 2019About a year ago, Buick showed a high-performance electric crossover with wide, aggressive, curvy lines that was called the Buick Enspire. Now we have our first look at the production version. While it does seem to be styled like the crossover, it also seems to have lost its electric powertrain in favor of internal combustion. At the front of the crossover, we can clearly see it has the skinny, scowling headlights of the concept sitting high on the front fascia and flush with the hood. The main grille looks like it may be smaller, but it could also just be that the actual open section of the grille doesn't fill up the grille area of the fascia. In profile, the crossover has an attractive long nose, low roof and rising belt line. The rear shows the most change, as the rear pillars are much thicker, and the taillights don't appear to span the full width of the crossover. It's in the rear that we can also see the evidence that the Buick Enspire will actually be gasoline powered. Looking very closely under the rear bumper cover, we can see two exhaust tips turned to face the ground. Based on the size of the crossover, and the fact a Cadillac XT4 was being driven along with the prototype, the Enspire is probably using the XT4's platform, as well as its mechanical bits. That means it probably has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power will also probably go through a nine-speed automatic to either the front wheels or all four. This prototype looks to be pretty far along, so we'll probably see the production version in about a year. Considering the Enspire's size and likely powertrain, it may even replace the similar Buick Envision. And since the Envision is Buick's worst selling crossover (unless you count the Regal TourX as one), it would be ripe for replacement.
