Here is a list of much of the work performed on this car:
The 300 cubic inch V8 motor has been completely rebuilt. New pistons, valves, hydraulic rockers etc. All built to original factory specifications The factory aluminum intake and aluminum heads have been painted as they would have been from the factory. New Holley 2 barrel carburetor. Works better than the original but the original carburetor will come with the car. Transmission has been upgraded from the original 2 speed automatic transmission to a freshley rebuilt 3 speed turbo 350. The differential has been checked out, was fine, and the fluid was changed. Custom dual exhaust was built for the car. It runs up and over the rear axel so it looks like a factory original exhaust. New full length floor pans and trunk floor sheet metal was installed. All rust repair was done by cutting out the cancer and welding in new metal. No half-assed bondo or fiberglass was used to cover up anything! All suspension parts that normally wear out were replaced with new parts and all of the suspension parts were painted with POR-15 to stop any future rust! (if you don't know what POR-15 is, you need to look into it....it's a fantastic product that eliminates rust problems!) All new interior. Carpet, seat covers, door panels, dash etc. Almost every piece of chrome was rechromed and every stainless moulding was professionally polished. New black vinyl top, plus the top frame was disassembled and restored! (Just the top assembly took nearly a week to restore!) It's a manual not a power top. It is very easy to put up and take down. Car has been lowered several inches. It could stand to be lowered a few more to be honest. New windshield, all other glass is original and in excellent condition. All new brakes. 2 new drums. This includes new hoses and even a new master cylinder. It stops great for 4 wheel drum brakes! It does not have power brakes. Oil pressure, water temp & amp guages have been added. Factory AM radio still in the dash. An aftermarket stereo that tilts away out of site has been added. Custom made front kick panels have built in stereo speakers! New Boyd Coddington aluminum rims and tires It starts easily, stops straight and fast, runs nice and seems to drive down the road straight! Simply put, it runs like a new car! Listed for sale locally. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the asking price is met. |

GM cutting vehicle trim options to save money for electrification
Sun, Mar 1 2020Information continues to filter out about GM's plans based on comments the automaker made during its Capital Markets Day event in February. GM President Mark Reuss said the company's push to save money by rationalizing the number of build combinations will continue in 2020, carrying on the work done in 2019. As GM Authority covers, last year, the carmaker cut 3,500 components across model lines, a 12% drop in the number of parts it needed to stock in its plants. Reuss used the next-generation Chevolet Equinox and GMC Terrain as examples for more cost efficiencies, saying build possibilities — which include international markets and their options — will be cut by more than 50%, and use more shared parts. "We will reduce total trim levels on Equinox and Terrain from eight to six," Reuss said, "reduce engine variants from 11 to 5, reduce build combinations from more than 200 to less than 100 per program, and see significant cost savings of an already paid-for architecture that took the mass out, helping us self-fund electrification programs." GM will plow a large amount of the money it saves into its ambitious EV program. In 2017, the automaker said it intends to have 20 electric vehicles on the market by the end of 2023, some of which could be shared between brands. An automotive analyst at Seeking Alpha and a piece in Automobile attempted to put specifics to what we should expect. As Automobile points out, the first two EVs in the 20-car program are already on sale, being the Ariv Meld and Ariv Merge eBikes available in Belgium and The Netherlands. We've seen the Cruise Origin autonomous rideshare taxi, although we don't know when it will hit the road. The next three, which we should see in the metal shortly, are two Cadillac EVs and the GMC Hummer EV pickup. The Cadillac pair are expected to be sized like the XT4 and XT5, and along with the Hummer, should hit the market starting in late 2021.
Buick struggling to keep up with Encore demand
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Buick is having a hard time keeping up with demand for its all-new Encore mini-CUV, according to a report from Automotive News. The stylish, lifted five-door went on sale in January, but dealers have reported that supplies have dwindled after the initial high demand, taking the proverbial "wind out of the sails."
General Motors admits that it underestimated demand for the diminutive Buick, which is built in Korea and sold as the Opel Mokka in Europe, where it's also seen success. Buick spokesperson Nick Richards told AN, "We increased production, so there have been a lot more landing within the last month."
Buick has done a booming business, though, even with its limited supply of Encores. With over 12,000 units sold in the first half of 2013, the small CUV is on pace to annihilate industry analysts' estimates, which predicted no more than 18,500 units in 2013. We're not entirely surprised. When we first drove the Encore late last year, Autoblog professed that we had no idea how sales would turn out, as the Encore wasn't really entering into an established segment. Even so, wefound a surprising amount to like in the Encore, enough that we "wouldn't bet against it" being a major success.
2018 Buick Enclave First Drive Review | Fortress of quietude
Fri, Oct 6 2017ATLANTA, Ga. — The 2018 Enclave is part of Buick's effort to reinvigorate its brand, positioning itself as a maker of "attainable luxury" vehicles. That means a total redesign, a number of safety and technology upgrades, and the introduction of the Avenir sub-brand (think of that last one as sort of the Denali of Buick). It also means more space and more luxury. With this in mind, we traveled to Atlanta to get to know the new Enclave, both in the city and on a long drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains into North Carolina. Our first impressions of the new Enclave came not from the driver's seat, but from a captain's chair in the second row (which is the traditional seating arrangement for a true captain, of course). We were riding from the Atlanta airport to a studio to learn more about the vehicle. That very first impression was, "Wow, this interior is really nice." The leather upon which we sat was soft, smooth to the touch, and interesting in its shapeliness. Looking around the cabin, we saw a lot of gentle curves and thoughtful accents that made the inside of the Enclave feel downright premium. It was a fresh and airy sense of taste though, and definitely not the seasoned wood-and-whiskey stodginess one might expect from the Buick name. Our second impression: "Boy, it's quiet in here." Heading toward downtown Atlanta on the freeway, we were unable to pick up wind noise, and only just a smidge of road noise as the Enclave trundled over the occasional rough patch of pavement. This is, of course, completely intentional on the part of Buick. The windshield and front windows use acoustic glass. The doors are triple sealed for a tighter, quieter fit when closed. Buick has insulated the Enclave with more sound deadening and included active noise cancellation. "Our goal is to make it as social as possible," said Dean Perelli, chief engineer for the Enclave. And social it is. It is easy to carry on conversation across the Enclave's three roomy rows. When we got out of the Enclave, we had a chance to take it in from the outside. It features attractive, wing-like lighting front and rear. The front signature lighting uses technology called "Evonik Acrylite," (a mouthful, even for the engineers) which is a polycarbonate material arranged in a dazzling, faceted and delicate array. The paint finishes we saw were attractive, with depth.
