Aftermarket items: darker window tint and custom-fit dashboard protector. SPECIAL ITEM: A mini-crane on a swivel with an electric winch is mounted inside the trunk for lifting a wheelchair or motorized riding cart (or any heavy load) into or out of the trunk (see photos). The crane is compact and is easily broken down for storage inside the trunk. The base is bolted to the trunk floor and the entire crane can be easily unbolted and removed if the car's new owner does not want it. Also, an aftermarket CB radio is mounted under the dashboard with a CB antenna base clamped on the forward edge of the trunk lid. There is a crystal-clear bug deflector is mounted on the leading edge of the hood (like new, it looks like no bug ever hit this bug shield). A "deer avoidance" silent whistle is mounted on top of the front bumper under the right headlamp (never hit a deer!).
This Roadmaster has been very well cared for, and it shows. It was rarely driven in rain and never driven on winter roads. Beautiful factory original "Ice Blue Metallic" paint shines like new. There is absolutely no rust or rust repair on any of the all-original body panels, or inside the door jambs. 99.99% free of scratches and dings, with no dents, bends, or scrapes. The clean condition of the chassis and underside of the car reflect the lack of exposure to harsh environment, with factory black paint/undercoat still coating the frame and floorboards.
Interior is original, very clean, and is in like new condition. Never smoked in and free of foul odors. The seats are cloth and show no rips or tears, and they are very clean and free of dirt, grime, and stains. Door panels, dashboard, headliner are spotless. Carpeting is in excellent condition with all 4 factory carpet mats/protectors still present (carpet mats removed for photos). Besides the standard speedometer, odometer, trip odometer, and fuel gauge, the dashboard also features factory oil pressure, temperature, and voltmeter gauges, along with a tachometer (all gauges work).
Powered by a fuel-injected 5.7L 350-V8 which starts easily and runs smoothly and quietly. Very clean and tidy under the hood.
Transmission is automatic 4-speed overdrive and it shifts smoothly through all gears.
This car drives effortlessly, tracks straight down the road, and anti-lock power brakes stop it quickly and in a straight line. It rides on a set of 4 matching Uniroyal Tiger Paw XTM Royal Seal Goldstripe radial whitewall tires with excellent tread depth.
Road-ready to travel anywhere you want to drive it.
Includes owner's manual, 2 sets of original GM keys and 2 keyless remotes, and original bill of sale dated 08/07/91. Also have the original window sticker.
All in all, this is one beautiful, well-preserved Buick Roadmaster sedan. The optional Buick locking wire wheel covers set it off very nicely.

The Chinese experiment | 2017 Buick Envision First Drive
Fri, Sep 23 2016The 2017 Buick Envision is a very good five-passenger crossover. The "but" you should anticipate will come in good time. First it's worth understanding why it exists at all. Out of the ashes of GM's bankruptcy a few flowers blossomed and the carmaker is doing exceptionally well, certainly far better than Chrysler has done in the wake of its free fall into Chapter 11. But of all the surprises at GM's turnaround, Buick surely ranks highest, without question the least likely player to thrive if you only study the North American market. Look farther than our shores, to China, however, and you won't be shocked. Note that the Envision, which has been on sale in China for a year and a half, will reach about 200,000 units this year; the entire Buick portfolio in the US only totaled 223,000 cars in 2015. Not only is China Buick's primary market, but what it makes there, like the Envision, is intended for a different sort of buyer. Here, we'd call it a compact crossover. In China the Envision is a relatively large car, and the buyer there is far more likely to use it as a tall limo, or at the very least, as a big-time status statement. That buyer is also very likely to be in his or her mid-30s – the average Buick buyer in the US is getting younger, but, at 58, is hardly a millennial. Still, Americans who buy the Envision will benefit from all of this China focus. Huge effort went into its development since the target competitor in China is the Audi Q5, according to Rick Spina, Executive Chief Engineer for the Envision. Spina explained that Buick went to the trouble and expense of isolating the entire chassis from engine, suspension, and driveline vibration and sound penetration. "If you look at non-luxury models like Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, nothing's isolated, everything is hard-bolted to the body, and so all that vibration goes into the frame." Spina says that even though you'd guess the China-built Envision shares the general parts bin of the Chevy Cruze and Equinox, it's almost entirely unique. "It's kind of an orphan," he says, because GM couldn't afford to invest in the ride tuning Buick had to have to compete with Audi in China for a volume Chevy product, so nothing from Chevy (for now) is on this platform. And although it would have made sense to have Cadillac or GMC share it, Cadillac's XT5 and GMC's Acadia were already on a different development cycle. Besides, he's pretty proud that the Envision was developed strictly for Buick.
Buick Encore blitzes first-year sales predictions
Sat, 01 Mar 2014With its first full year of sales in the bag, it's safe to say that Buick has a hit on its hands with the Encore. US buyers have snatched up 31,046 of the small, premium crossovers since the Encore went on sale in January of 2013, while 97,311 were sold globally (not counting its counterparts from Opel and Vauxhall).
While we liked the Encore when we first drove it, we'll admit, we weren't sure how the tiny CUV would do. In fact, the first thing Executive Editor Chris Paukert wrote about the Encore was, "We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out." But it's done well, and has been subject to heavy demand over the past year, blowing away the estimates of analysts, who, according to an August story from Automotive News, projected no more than 18,500 units would be sold in 2013.
"Right out of the gate, demand for the Encore was high," Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing said in a statement. "It accounted for most of the segment's growth last year and that's because it offers the right safety, technology and features in the right-sized vehicle for many customers."
Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names
Tue, Mar 17 2015Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
