hi, folks. up for sale is an oldtimer's, old, Buick wagon. yes, I know it is old, I am too and I run almost as good as this car. showing just 64,800 miles, this is an unlikely CAR to see, but it is true... OK, I did not choose to shoot in the rain, but it actually worked out fine as the car needed a bath, anyway.
starts, stops, steers great. the motor is fine, smooth, quiet and even firing. idles a little high @ 900rpm, but I do not know how to adjust. this is a fuel injected 305 C.I. GM motor, and runs great. tranny shifts from park to drive with no drama, pulls out great and shifts through all the gears at the right time. fluids are good, oil clean, newer belts, no issues.
the battery has been replaced, but I am taking it to my mechanic tomorrow as we think it needs an alternator (AMP light on, although car drives fine...). there are no other lights on or issues.
motor and tranny fine. drives great; but... it is a big, older car and drives old school. a bit of over-steer, soft ride, does not corner at high speeds too well. cruising around town, or on the highway... actually safe, quiet and comfy; I like it. drifts a little to the right on occasion, tires are old and soft, brakes are excellent, a/c and heater does not blow (i'll check on it tomorrow), I am guessing bad blower motor or fuse, switch,. i'll make sure the car is OK for the drive home as far as the charging system, can only give you a heads up on the blower.
windows, p/steering, radio, gauges, odometer, light, horn, wipers, blinkers, speedometer, etc, all A-OK. no fluid leaks visible, belts, hoses, bracket, etc all good. the motor is fine, no knock, ticks or tocks, very smooth. all original interior, and showing some age, but all in all better than what you would look for in a car this age.
it has a sunroof of sorts, looks and feels like leather, alloy wheels, 2 keys and proper center caps. the body and paint are fine, but the body-side moldings, only the rubber strips, are loosing hold in some areas and the wood-grain trim molding is damaged on the left rear side in a small section. no dings, no dents, no broken bits except on rear tail lamp has some light cracking and my guess is simply due to age. this car has been around a long time and looks like it was never, ever crashed or hurt bad.
i'll post later regarding the alternator issue. I am happy to sort that out and will, of course, pay for repairs and will document work performed. please feel fre to bid and buy. call or email anytime, happy to help. thnx !!
the Buick is exactly as shown and at my home. feel free to come by, or have an inspection done locally.

GM cutting production at two plants
Thu, Feb 26 2015General Motors is continuing to adjust to excess supply of some of its brands' models. To get production more in line with the vehicles' actual demand, the automotive giant is idling two of its factories in North America in the coming months. The Orion Assembly plant is going to be down from March 9-13, according to an anonymous plant worker and another insider speaking to Automotive News. The factory builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, but there are plenty of both models sitting on dealer lots, including 216 days worth of Sonics, according to AN. The factory already had two idle periods announced to reduce the excess. In addition, downtime is scheduled at GM's "Flex" line at the Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, plant from April 13-17. This affects supply of the Chevrolet Camaro, Impala, Buick Regal and Cadillac XTS. Among them, the automotive giant has the largest supply of Regals ready for dealers with 213 days worth of them, according to AN. The future for the whole Oshawa factory is cloudy in general, though. There are rumors that it could close entirely in the future because the Camaro is leaving and the Regal and XTS might not last much longer than 2017. The Canadian government and the labor union there intend to put up a fight, though. Refreshed 2019 Buick Envision gets sharper edges, optional nine-speed transmission
Fri, Feb 23 2018After 18 months on the market in the United States, the Buick Envision took its place as the third-best-selling vehicle among Buick's eight models, slotting in behind the Encore and Enclave. January sales this year jumped 13.7-percent year-over-year, just a few hundred behind the Enclave. Now, the Chinese-made compact SUV gets a modest makeover, but buyers of the 2019 Buick Envision will need to reach up into the upper trims to access the best of what's new. The big mechanical upgrade comes with the option of GM's Hydra-Matic 9T50 nine-speed automatic instead of standard the six-speed. However, that appears to be limited to just two of the five available Envision trims: Premium I and Premium II. The base, Preferred, and Essence models stick with the six-speed only. Design changes center around the front and rear fascias. The grille motif switches to a be-winged Buick emblem - in tri-color spec, not monochrome - over the previous waterfall, matching that of the sibling crossovers. The lower front fascia gets redrawn, with the fog lights at the edges now sitting in square recesses with reworked chrome trim and sharper edges on the bumper. Premium trims move up from HID projectors to bi-LED headlights, while the other three trims shed their composite halogens for HID lights. According to the 2019 order guide, Ebony seats with Dark Plum interior accents leave the menu, replaced by Dark Galvanized leather seats with Ebony trim. White interior lighting will illuminate the instrument panel and door trim, replacing Ice Blue, and comfort/convenience tweaks come in the form of wireless phone charging, an cabin air ionizer and a button to shut off the stop-start system. The latter would be a noteworthy upgrade as it's been a common complaint logged against so-equipped GM vehicles. In back, design elements get sharper edges, and the taillights switch to slimmer LED units. Designers have hidden the single exhaust outlet on the lower three trims with the base, 197-horsepower 2.5-liter engine. It appears that choosing the optional, 252-hp 2.0-liter engine will be identified by dual rectangular exhaust finishers instead of the round tips of previous years. Exterior colors hold steady at six, but Midnight Amethyst Metallic gives way to Satin Steel Gray Metallic, and the current 19-inch wheels get replaced with two new designs. The 2019 Buick Envision has already gone on sale in China, and should reach U.S. dealers in April. Related Video:
Junkyard Gem: Heavily personalized 1997 Buick Skylark Custom Sedan
Wed, Mar 27 2019Normally I wouldn't be much interested in a third-generation GM N-Body (a family that includes the Chevy Malibu and Olds Achieva) spotted in the junkyard, though a case could be made for such a vehicle's historical significance. This '97 Skylark, however, arrived in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard well-plastered with stickers, reflectors, and other personalizing touches, making it an interesting document of its time and place. It appears that both of the original white fenders got mashed and then replaced with blue ones, almost certainly obtained cheaply at a yard like this one. If you're not going to paint your new fenders to match the car, then you're already well down the slippery slope to making the car a giant mobile canvas to display your interests. A 20-year-old GM N-Body, regardless of how nice it was when new, isn't worth much, and you could stretch a line of these cars from Lansing to Lahore with all the used-up Ns sitting in American wrecking-yard inventory right now. Perhaps it was the grandchild of the car's original owner who indulged in White Widow cannabis and listened to Siouxsie & the Banshees. The odds against finding the original window sticker in a car like this are mighty long, but here it is. Sold new at Putnam Buick in Burlingame. It appears that this car spent most of its final decade in or near Mill Valley. Mill Valley is a mere 30 miles from Burlingame, or about three hours of Buick driving (you have to go past SFO, through San Francisco, and across the Golden Gate Bridge, a journey featuring apocalyptically terrible traffic at just about any time). Drive east across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and you'll get to this Skylark's final parking space, about 20 miles from Mill Valley. This car lived its whole life near the shores of San Francisco Bay, and it will die there. Feathers and a political-party charm adorn the headliner. This car's final owner had a practical side, as we can see from the many reflectors and lengths of safety tape. Just the thing for avoiding a T-bone wreck in the dead of night! "Essentially, Skylark embodies all of the features customers expect from a Buick, in a smaller package, with a very attractive MSRP."
