In 1954 Buick Roadmaster and Super shared with Cadillac and Oldsmobile 98 the new General Motors
C-body, adopting the new "ponton" appearance, and the addition of "Dagmar bumpers" to the front.

Texas Calssic Cars Of Dallas is very happy to present this very nice example of a 1956 Buick Roadmaster, restored not too many years ago.

These were large, roomy cars, as much as five and a half inches longer in wheelbase and more
than nine inches (229 mm) longer overall than in 1953. Roadmaster script was found on the rear
quarters and within the deck ornament. Rear fenders had a blunted fin at the rear edge, with dual
 "bullet" taillamps below.

The paint shows very well on the car, and the bumpers appear to have been rechromed during restoration.

A new panoramic windshield with vertical side pillars was used. Seats had chrome bands on 2-door models and rear seats had an armrest on 4-door models. The front suspension was refined and Roadmaster'shorsepower was increased to 200. The pillared coupe and the Estate wagon were no longer offered as body styles. Overall sales dropped to 50,600.

In 1955 broad lower rear fender bands, gold-colored Roadmaster deck script and hood ornament,
bars on the hubcaps and gold-accented grille were added to distinguish Roadmaster. Horsepower
jumped to 236, and a new variable-pitch Dynaflow, in which the stator blades changed pitch under
hard acceleration, provided quicker off-the-line getaway. Back up lights were now standard.
Overall sales were 64,500.

The Buick was purchased originally at one of the local Vandergriff dealerships here in Dallas, and still maintains it's original logo.

In 1956 Roadmaster had a shallower Sweepspear that did not dip all the way to the rocker panel
as on other models. Twin chrome strips graced the decklid with Roadmaster spelled out between
them. Roadmaster script now appeared on the doors beneath the vent windows. Fender tip dual
bombsights were standard. Two stator wheels were adopted as an improvement to Dynaflow. A brand
new 4-door Riviera hardtop, proved to be the most popular Roadmaster, with 24,770 units sold and
outselling the pillared sedan by more than two-to-one. Overall sales were 53,500. A padded dash
became standard.

These great old Buicks were called Roadmonsters for a reason. The curb weight on one was 4400-4600 lbs.

The interior was redone to be close to original, with some modifications. It is done in a nice combination of red and black.

The speedometer is not working, as well as a few of the gauges.  These are all original gauges and the owner wanted to keep it that way. Most of these will need rebuilding or replacing.

Under the hood is the correct 322 ci Nailhead V-8 that was standard to the 56. We don't know if it's the original engine. It is connected to the 2 speed Dynaflow transmission.

GM to make most cars LTE hotspots for 2015

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

General Motors isn't the first automaker to deliver in-car Internet access, but a proposed plan announced today could make the technology more widespread than any of its competitors have offered. By the 2015 model year, most Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC products in the US and Canada will offer 4G LTE mobile broadband access. Initially, GM will just be pairing with AT&T to deliver this service, but additional carriers will be revealed in the future.
Current in-car Wi-Fi hot spots are limited to 3G, but GM says that 4G LTE is 10 times faster than 3G service and will allow for full Internet access, including streaming video for entertainment as well as services like real-time traffic updates and navigation driving directions. There is also no need for a paired smartphone with this new system, which should make it easier to use, and GM and AT&T will also be working together to develop new apps for customers.
Buyers can expect to start seeing 4G LTE in their cars starting next year, and GM is already planning to expand the service to other global markets as well. All of the information from GM's announcement is posted in a press release below.

GM Issues Four New Recalls For 90,000 Vehicles

Fri, Jun 6 2014

One day after releasing an internal report that found a pattern of "incompetence and neglect" within the company, General Motors announced four more recalls that affect 89,126 vehicles. One of the recalls affects 31,520 vehicles that may contain a defect that could prevent airbags from deploying in a car accident. GM said it was aware of at least one crash in which a vehicle occupant sustained an injury because the airbags didn't deploy when they should have. The company said it was aware of other crashes that were similar in nature, but it is not yet known whether they're related to the condition, in which the shorting bar inside the driver's airbag may occasionally contact the airbag terminals. If the car and terminals are touching each other in a crash, the bags will not deploy. Vehicles from the 2012 model year are affected by the problem, and they include the Buick Verano, Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic. GM has conducted two previous recalls for this condition involving 7,116 cars. GM is also recalling 57,512 models of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 and 2015 Silverado HD, Tahoe and Surburan, as well as the 2015 GMC Sierra HD, Yukon and Yukon XL models because their radio control modules may not work, and thus prevent certain audible safety warnings. Certain models of the 2013-2014 Chevrolet Spark and 2013 Buick Encore are being recalled for a different airbag problem, which could prevent airbags from deploying properly during a crash. And 33 2014 Chevrolet Corvettes are being recalled for yet another airbag problem, in which an internal short circuit could disable the airbags. So far in 2014, General Motors has issued 34 separate recalls that affect approximately 15.9 million vehicles – more than the company has sold in the past five years combined. GM Announces Four Recalls DETROIT – General Motors today announced three safety recalls and one non-compliance recall, all of which were reported to the NHTSA on Thursday, June 5, 2014. In all cases, customers will receive letters from GM letting them know when they can bring their vehicles into a dealership, where all repairs will be performed free of charge and courtesy transportation would be provided as needed.

The 2020 Buick LaCrosse we won't get looks exceptional

Thu, Mar 7 2019

GM is killing off the Buick LaCrosse in the United States after the 2019 model year, but elsewhere it lives on. Buried by all the Geneva news this week, GM quietly took the wraps off a 2020 Buick LaCrosse facelift for China. It only makes sense to keep selling the big Buick in the popular Chinese market (now Buick's largest), but we're a tad jealous of what we can't have stateside. The changes Buick has implemented make the LaCrosse into a far more handsome option. Both the front and rear get massaged here. A new horizontal patterned grille, slimmer headlights with a neat LED design, plus new lower bumper surround all work together to provide a more upscale look. The view out back is an even larger departure from the old and somewhat awkward rear end on the 2019 LaCrosse. Smaller, flowing taillights mesh well with the chrome strip on the trunk lid, then dual exhaust outlets offer a sporty flair to the squat rear end. The Buick badge looks cohesive with the look as a whole now, instead of just chilling out alone on the expansive trunk lid. An updated powertrain package goes along with the new looks, too. GM is snagging its new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder LSY engine it uses in the Cadillac XT4 for duty here. It makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to GM's nine-speed automatic transmission. China will be the only market to see this generation of LaCrosse as GM plans to exclusively produce it in its Shanghai facility. The Detroit-Hamtramck plant that previously made it for all North American markets was among those facilities GM announced would close, bringing with it the LaCrosse and other vehicles. Related video:
