Harsens Island, Michigan, United States
You are bidding on the 1981 Buick Riviera featured in Eminem's "Headlights" music video. This car was chosen to be in Spike Lee's production of Eminem's music video "Headlights" which was filmed in and around Detroit's Marusso Park. The car is featured in multiple shots in the video, including being shown in the driveway of Eminem's home in the video, as well as being driven through the streets of Detroit; both the exterior and interior of this Riviera appear in the music video. This is the perfect car for both Eminem and Buick fans alike; this car will forever be a part of automotive and music history. I can provide proof that this car is in the upcoming Spike Lee / Eminem Music Video upon request; I cannot publish them here due to a non-disclosure agreement. There is also an article in the Rolling Stone about this music video "Eminem and Spike Lee Teaming Up for "Headlights" Video" published by Miriam Coleman on April 6th of 2014. CONTACT STEVE: (862)-228-4480 This front wheel drive personal luxury car features a smooth running Oldsmobile 307 V8 engine and a smooth-shifting automatic transmission. It has both power steering and power breaks, all which function as if new. You aren't going to have any mechanical problems with this baby, this Riviera starts up right away without hesitation and runs great every time - in fact, the engine is extremely quiet, and the ride of the car smooth and luxurious as well - just as you should expect from a classic Buick. The suspension is soft, and the ride quality unsurpassed. The transmission shifts smoothly and never slips. The engine does not smoke, there are no leaks of any fluids. I promise you will be impressed with the condition and reliability of the power-train. No need for an engine rebuild - just drive this car directly to the car show, or make it your daily driver. The body of the car is in very good condition, originally a North Carolina car, and garage kept, this car does not know the snow and ice of winter, the under-body is rust-free. You will not find any rust holes, rot, or anything of the sort underneath this car. It is my understanding that this car was garage kept, and as you can see from the pictures, it is in great shape for its age. There are no dents or dings anywhere on the car, the chrome is all there and in great condition, there are no chips or scratches on the windshield or any of the other glass windows. Overall the paint is in great shape as well, there is no sun-fading or other discoloration, and the baby-blue exterior paired with the white vinyl top (also in great condition) makes for a fantastic and classic look that turns heads everywhere I go. The Chrome wheels are also in great shape, and the tires are fairly new as well and are not in need of replacement. The breaks work very well, the suspension is in great shape and makes for an extremely smooth ride quality only a Buick can give you. This Riviera also has a self-leveling trunk feature, which automatically adjusts the ride height as weight is added to, or removed from the trunk of the vehicle Inside, the car is nearly perfect, with the only exception being the most common - the headliner is drooping a bit, and has been pinned back up. Everything else is, however, in near perfect shape, no rips, no tears, no stains on any of the seats or other fabric upholstery. The plush blue interior looks and feels like new, the wood-grain dash is also beautiful and in great shape, there are no scratches or cracks or other damage to any of it. The rest of the blue vinyl dash is likewise in great shape, no fading or cracking of any sort. All of the chrome knobs in the interior of the vehicle are there and in great shape. The radio works without problem, and even has the optional auto-reverse cassette player in addition to the AM/FM radio, and all of the speakers work as if new, the sound quality is great, and it even has controls to adjust the levels to the front/back speakers, as well as a trebel/bass control. The car has climate control air-conditioning which also works without hesitation, the heat comes out nice and hot, all of the fans work great. The carpeting in the car is also without flaws, the floors are solid, the door panels are without damage, the steering wheel looks great as well. All of the power options work perfectly. The rear window defroster works great as well. There is a glove box with the original owners manual inside it, and a small storage compartment between the front seats for additional convenience. The car has more ash trays and cigarette lighters than you'll know what to do with, literally one for every passenger - this car, however, has never been smoked in- it smells as clean as it looks. This Riviera also has all of the power options, including 8-way power seats (both driver and passenger sides), power windows, power door-locks, cruise control, rear window defroster, auto-delay windshield wipers, light sentinel, and even cornering lights. Inside the trunk you will find a spare tire and the jack. Also included are the original floor mats (both front and rear). All in all, you are bidding on a 1981 Buick Riviera personal luxury coupe with real V8 power, and front wheel drive that can handle winter driving conditions if you need to. Overall, this car is in great condition, the only flaws are the headliner- as described above- and a couple tiny spots around the base of the vinyl roof where there is a small amount of surface rust - but it is very minor as you can see from the pictures. The car is complete (not missing any parts) and always given regular oil changes and maintenance. You will not find a better 81 Riviera at this price. Buyers resent low inventories, prices over MSRP, study says
Tue, Nov 15 2022Vehicle inventory low, vehicle transaction prices high, customers fretting … welcome, J.D. Power, to the era of supply and demand. In a recently published survey from one of the auto industryÂ’s top analytical firms, findings show that customers' satisfaction with vehicle purchases in the United States this year has dipped for the first time in 10 years. The 2022 U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study found that overall sales satisfaction has dropped to 786 (on a 1,000-point scale) from 789 in 2021. In that year, higher than expected trade-in values softened the effect of new vehicle price increases. But in 2022, on top of trade-in prices shrinking, many dealers elected to charge more than the ManufacturerÂ’s Suggested Retail Price, a factor that did not sit well with buyers. “When dealers charge more than MSRP, particularly with long-term loyal customers, they risk a potential long-term negative effect on customer advocacy and service business," said Chris Sutton, vice president of automotive retail at J.D. Power. Satisfaction among buyers who paid more than sticker price is 757, while satisfaction among those who paid the sticker price or less is 850, the Power report said. The lack of dealership inventory was also a customer irritant, J.D. Power found, a point that automakers and their dealers may want to consider. Many have maintained, or considered maintaining, a smaller inventory in the wake of the pandemic, keeping costs down and driving more customers toward factory orders. Regarding those consumers shopping for electric vehicles, the survey said that more than a third of them “failed to get instruction on EV charging before they left the dealership, which notably affects satisfaction.” Said Sutton, “Salespeople donÂ’t need to show gas-powered vehicle buyers how to fill their tank, but they do need to show EV buyers how to charge their vehicle.” There are positives to the Power conclusions, however, especially for Alfa Romeo dealers. The Italian brand ranked highest in customer satisfaction among premium brands with a score of 833, with Porsche a very close second (831) and Lexus (819) third. Alfa is on something of a roll these days, with its compact Tonale crossover due for release in the spring, and a new sports car in the works. Meanwhile, in PowerÂ’s “mainstream brand”” segment, Buick ranked first with a score of 825, followed by Dodge (816) and Subaru (804), all performing higher than the industry average.
Two nearly new 1987 Buick Grand National 'twins' found in garage after 30 years
Fri, Apr 7 2017Back in the '80s, a Buick Grand National could leave a lot of vehicles in its dust. The final, 1987 version of the menacingly styled performance coupe produced 245 horsepower and 355 pound feet of torque, and it was never designed to sit still, let alone for 30 years. But two low-mile Grand Nationals did just that. At the time, it was widely known that nothing like the Grand National would be built again, as the Regal platform would be moving to front-wheel drive. So a lot of buyers stockpiled Grand Nationals and rarer GNX versions with the idea of making a buck on them when they gained value. Some people even bought several. That's what happened to these two cars, recently unearthed from their slumber. Thirty years of storage has turned them into barn finds instead of showroom beauties, and they haven't exactly been flawlessly preserved. A story reported on gm-efi.com shows the cars – the "Twins," as they're called – parked side to side, the way they were laid to rest decades ago, with thick dust on them. Two enthusiasts, Shawn Matthews and William Avila, originally contacted the owner, who had posted them for sale on Facebook with a staggering $200,000 asking price. After inspecting the cars and confirming they were legit, the prospective buyers managed to strike a deal for an undisclosed sum. The story does say the seller was a bit eccentric, demanding money in hand before the cars could be touched at all, but the cars were eventually acquired and transported to a shop for desperately needed refurbishing. Time has caused the headliners on both cars to droop, and it's obvious all gaskets and fluids will need to be addressed, but both cars have extremely low odometer readings: One has 807 miles on the clock, while the other hasn't even reached 600. The car with a more miles was moved "once in a while," so clearly the original owner couldn't resist giving it a go while the other one slept. We couldn't've, either. First 2013 Buick Encore TV ad features... dinosaurs
Thu, 14 Mar 2013The whole "SUVs as dinosaurs" trope has become something of a threadbare cliché among auto writers, but that doesn't mean the wider world of consumers has caught on to the Jurassic nature of our line of thinking. That's what General Motors appears to be betting on, at least. Just check out Buick's first television spot for its 2013 Encore, the tiny crossover that is pushing the Tri-Shield into territories unknown while looking to outrun the brand's reputation as a refuge for elderly clientele.
Set to air this weekend on ESPN during the NCAA college basketball tournament, the ad plays up the Encore's maneuverability and surprising interior space by setting the baby Buick amongst a herd of lumbering CG dinosaurs created by Tippett Studio, the folks behind Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Ted, and the Twilight series of films.
We can't help but snigger a little - while the Encore is indeed surprisingly roomy, nimble, and composed, our first drive found it to be glacially slow, too... not unlike a certain prehistoric race of animals. Check out the commercial below and judge for yourself.
