Extremely rare 1979 Buick Riviera S-Type Turbo Model. This is an all-original car with only 49K miles! Only a couple thousand of these were made with BOTH the rare S-Type package AND the factory V-6 Turbo engine - even fewer with this GREAT color combination of white with red sport interior and factory red pinstripes!
As an "S-Type", the exterior has black accents on the rocker trim, window trim and grill, along with special "S-Type" badging. The S-type interior has a special center console (opens for your 8-tracks), black accents on the dash, sport steering wheel, and special bucket seats. This particular car is finished with the eye-catching red interior. As a car equipped with the factory V-6 turbocharged engine, the exterior has special "turbocharged" badging.
This car is equipped with power windows, power door locks, cruise control, AM/FM 8-track stereo with power ant. (all components working!), factory wire wheels, and air conditioning (blows COLD).
The car was a one-owner car until last year and had regular service. Many recent new parts, including brand new radiator, new shocks, new wheel bearings/brakes, new engine mounts, and newer tires. Runs and drives great.
The body is in fantastic shape - all original paint (except driver door was resprayed at one point and could stand to be redone for show, rear fillers were replaced/painted, and various areas have touch up paint from over the years), no dents/rust (except some minor surface spots on the same part of the driver door that was resprayed down above the rocker panel), original chrome (with some hazing). The interior is in BEAUTIFUL condition with only minor wear on the front seats (as shown), some fading on the back of the front seats (the plastic part that can easily be redyed), and headliner was reglued on one side in past (the black spot on the front carpet in one of the pics is just a piece of dirt I should have picked up - not a hole/spot in the carpet).
Please ask all questions before bidding. All shipping arrangements are buyer's responsibility, although I am happy to make the car available for any transporter after full payment is received. The car is sold as is/where is with no warranties express or implied so please feel free to ask any questions/come drive it. This is NOT a 100 point perfect museum piece and is not being held out as such but is a super rare, original collector car in beautiful shape that is over 30 years old so not perfect. Thanks!!

Buick really wants us to know the new Cascada convertible won't leak
Thu, Apr 16 2015Quality testing on the factory floor is nothing to joke about. Automakers need to make sure the work being done is up to snuff, and that means some extensive checks. For Buick, that means using a lot of water for each of its Cascada convertibles. Each vehicle that rolls off the floor is subject to a high-pressure, ten-minute soaking that sprays nearly 20 gallons of water from each nozzle during every bath, just to guarantee the fabric roof hasn't sprung any leaks. For some reason, Buick has chosen to show off this testing with the help of what we imagine is the Gorton's Fisherman's baby cousin. Check out the strange testing video, available up top.
Opel Insignia OPC getting facelift. Will the Buick Regal GS see it, too?
Tue, 07 Aug 2012We've seen spy shots of the base Opel Insignia wearing facelifted front and rear ends, and now it appears that the more potent OPC version will be benefitting from a nip/tuck, as well.
The front bumper has been redesigned, incorporating new air intakes - toned-down versions of the model's signature fangs - as well as a new grille. Out back, there will be minimal changes to the overall fascia, most likely stuff like slightly redesigned taillamps, and inside, these spy shots show a larger navigation/infotainment screen sitting atop the center console.
This is all well and good for the Insignia, but we're wondering how these changes will impact North America's Buick Regal GS. No, it may not share the same powertrain punch as the Euro-spec OPC, but visually, the cars are nearly identical. When questioned about possible changes for the GS, a Buick spokesperson told us that the automaker "can't comment" on any changes at this point. Even so, we wouldn't be surprised if some small changes come our way in the next year or so.
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle vs 1987 Buick GNX in Generation Gap showdown
Wed, 15 Oct 2014Generation Gap generally tries to adhere to a theme for each episode, and for the final video from the Lingenfelter collection, the series might have its best idea yet - limited-production muscle cars from General Motors.
On one side you get a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO, and it's an absolute sleeper. Other than the SS wheels, this classic coupe looks practically bone stock, at least until the engine fires up. Under the hood is a 427-cubic-inch (7.0-liter) V8 making a claimed 425 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This was the sole year for the COPO package on the Chevelle, and Chevy only made about 323 of them.
The Chevelle's challenger is almost as rare and arguably just as cool. The 1987 Buick Grand National GNX looks just as mean today as when new. It eschews a traditional muscular V8 in favor of a 3.8-liter turbo V6 making a claimed 276 hp and 360 lb-ft, although that number is supposedly a bit underrated. Also, just 547 examples of the GNX version were ever built making it quite a collector's item too.
