1973 Buick Riviera
BOAT TAIL
Up for auction is this smooth running and driving Buick
Riviera. For being 40 years old it still has all if not more features than most
modern cars today.
The following is a list of all
items this Boat Tail has to offer, but please keep in mind that like any older
car, it may have some issues. I am in no way trying to claim this car is
perfect or show quality, but I am confident it will make a great Sunday cruiser
while you take your time polishing her to your style.
I currently have her as a "Chicano Cruiser", as
one of my buddy's calls it. It's suspension is not altered or modified. The
only major modification that has been done at this point is the custom 42"
Power Moonroof installed by the world famous Nunez Moonroofs in So.Cal.
Otherwise this Riviera is still considered unmolested and a perfect working
blank canvas for anyone.
Current updates:
- Brand new Starter (less than 10 miles as of this
listing)
- Brand new Fuel Pump (less than 10 miles as of this
listing)
- Brand new Air Filter (less than 10 miles as of this
listing)
- Recent Oil Change (less than 10 miles as of this
listing)
- Optima Red Top Gel-Cel Battery
- Water pump was changed about a year ago
- Cooling system was flushed at the time of water pump
being changed
- Two 18" Glasspak exhaust were added
- Upholstery was done about 3 years ago
- Custom 42" (yes, its huge) electric Moonroof was
installed less than 25 miles ago
- 15" Chrome 5-Star wheels
- Tires are about a year old
- The front bumper was recently polished/chromed.
- The car seems to have lived in California all of it's
life.
- The car has never been in a major accident to my
knowledge
- I have the pink-slip on hand ready for the new owner
Cool Features
- Full power windows
- All windows work!!! Yes, they go up and down... which
is hard to find now a days for a 40 year old car!
- Full power drivers seat
- The original clock still works!
- Has original un-molested AM/FM radio
- Full A/C system intact. However it is not blowing cold
air, I do not know if it only needs to be recharged or the system is
faulty.
- All glass is intact.
- Front windshield was replaced last year with an OEM
glass featuring the famous built-in radio antenna.
- All seats are complete, no rips, tears or snags. The
only bad side is a couple of stains.
- Most all interior is complete and functional.
The Bad
- Registration is past due 2 years. (This is honestly the
worst thing I can think off that's wrong with the Riviera)
- This shouldn't be a problem unless you are in
California, hence you will have to pay the back-fee penalties.
- There are a couple of leaks
- There is a small oil leak in the front section of the
car. I haven't figured out the source since it hasn't bothered me enough
to look for it.
- There is also a leak coming from the transmission's
rear section. Again, it hasn't bothered me enough to do anything about it
other than checking the oil levels before taking her out for a spin.
- Due to the transmission leak there will be some smoke
at initial start-up as the leak seems to hit the H-Pipe before hitting
the ground. Hence the oil gets burnt off as the car warms up.
- Although the front bumper was recently cleaned-up, I can’t
find the mounting posts/brackets, hence I can't mount the front bumper
back on the car. :(
- Because the new Moonroof was recently added, the
headliner was removed and not re-installed.
- I do, however, have all the pieces to the headliner
and corresponding accents.
- Lastly, the gauge cluster works when it wants to. I
will try my best to address and fix this issue before the auction is over,
but I DO NOT make any guarantees it will be fixed in time or at all.

from perfect.

Inside Line reports Buick is planning to bring back some of the more storied names from the company's past, including the Grand National, GNX and the T-Type. Those cars rose to prominence in the 1970s and '80s to become performance legends of their day.
The new models will reportedly make use of the rear-wheel drive platform that currently underpins the Cadillac ATS and all would arrive as sedans - according to an unnamed source familiar with the initiative. Odds are the T-Type and the Grand National would share a driveline, with honest money being on a new twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 as the engine of choice. Word has it the mill will be good for anywhere from 350 to 400 horsepower.
That leaves only the GNX. Inside Line seems to think that machine could get down the road with some help from the all-new GM LT1 small-block V8. The engineers behind the ATS platform have already told us the engine bay is large enough for to accommodate the big eight pot, and since GM is most certainly working on an ATS-V, a slightly less powerful, less luxurious Buick iteration makes some kind of sense. We can't wait to see these things in the light of day.

Ever look at a concept car from a foreign auto marque like Opel and wonder what relevance it will have to you as an American consumer? Well, we'll tell you: at least as far as the Opel Monza concept goes, it could mean a lot.
Speaking with Automotive News at the Paris Motor Show, Opel chief Karl-Thomas Neumann said, "You will see the Monza when you see the next Insignia." And the Insignia, we needn't point out, is essentially ported over to American showrooms as the Buick Regal.
The relationship between the Regal and Insignia only stands to grow closer as Opel design chief Mark Adams has also been charged with tightening the bonds between the two automakers positioned on opposite shores of the Atlantic. Adams also intends to imbue the next Insignia with more "premium brand values" in order to "add polish to the brand." Which in turn means that the Regal will be designed to look more upscale, too.

Consider this an official invitation to hop on the wagon bandwagon. There's still tons of room because, well, it's a wagon (and market share is still extremely small). But according to new data, the segment is growing. According to a report from Bloomberg, using data from Edmunds.com, roughly 211,600 Americans purchased wagons in 2018. That is technically down from the 237,600 sold in 2017, but wagon sales in the U.S. are up 29 percent from where they were five years ago. It's also the third year in a row that wagon sales broke the 200,000 mark. The sales trends have been somewhat representative of the availability of wagons. New models have debuted during the past 5 years and therefore offer more opportunity at more brands to buy wagons. In addition to more modest cars such as the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen, several luxury and performance brands are offering wagons today, such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo and Buick. (Bloomberg's headlines make the point that "crossovers are for the Kardashians," and wagons are just, well, classier.) This uptick in brand-name availability, as well as extremely well-executed design on most of the wagons currently available, has helped increase the segment's desirability. That, and its ability to better accomplish the same tasks at hand while standing out from the crossover and SUV crowd. Still, the posted numbers represent a small fraction of the total vehicles sold. According to the data, wagons only held a 1.4 percent market share in 2017, the segment's best recent year. Wagons hold a steadfast place in America's past, and they're writing an interesting new story. With the downturn in traditional cars, they may continue to create an unexpected narrative.
