1972 Buick Riviera Hardtop Boat Tail Texas "Survivor" with GS Options (Not the GS series) 1972 Buick Riviera Hardtop “Boat Tail”, 3-owner, 86,929 original miles on numbers matching standard 455 big block engine, original interior, always garaged, and driven minimally since 2008. Correct Buick “Royal Blue Poly” (Older multi-stage repaint), Buick “Arctic White” Custom Vinyl “Landau” roof and interior, Excellent chrome and stainless, Highly Optioned with features in the GS package. Owner’s manual, paperwork (Customer Computer Punch Card-POP), and shop manual included. Vehicle originated from Texas and has resided in Tennessee collection. This is the last of my personal Buicks. Clear title. Manufactured at Flint, MI. Plant on March 28, 1972 per computer punch card. ***Clean factory equipment, undercarriage with factory undercoating, and original floors/trunk-no rust ever. (A real Texas survivor) Everything is rated excellent condition per national value guides and is appraised and insured for $23,000 by a national insurance group. This Riviera is truly the last of the GM muscle era big blocks with innovative Boat Tail styling and luxury high performance. She is ready for the road and truly the best Buick I have ever driven. Everything works-It needs absolutely nothing. Gauge indictors are bright and plastics are not faded and brittle. Original soft rubber seals throughout. Original Poly-glass spare tire, cardboard, tar mat, and felt trunk liner. To meet 1972 federal emission rules, the standard and optional GS engines were off about five horsepower from the '71 models, but the difference was hard to detect. On paper it appeared as if the horsepower was greatly reduced only because in '72 horsepower was measured in net hp, whereas in previous years it was measured as gross hp. Both engines were improved, with a revised modulated choke control, a solenoid switch in the throttle linkage, which replaced the dashpot; and a revised throttle linkage for more immediate response to accelerator movement. The three-speed Hydra-matic 400 transmission continued unchanged, as did the axle ratios of 2.93: 1 and 3.42:1.-Hemmings VIN: 4Y87U2H926633 Trim Tag:
I require a non-refundable $500.00 deposit in the first 24 hours, or arrange verified payment-in-full by cash, check, or bank-to-bank electronic transfer. I reserve the right to cancel the auction early. The vehicle is for sale as-is locally. I will be happy to refer and arrange delivery at buyer’s cost. Please contact via email for any questions and note my 100% EBay rating since 2000. Thanks. |

Buick Velite 6 to come in PHEV, electric versions for China
Wed, Apr 18 2018In addition to the all-electric Enspire crossover concept revealed this week ahead of the Beijing Auto Show, Buick is adding a new production variant to its Velite series of electrified vehicles for China. It's called the Velite 6, a plug-in hybrid that will launch this year in Buick's largest market. A full-electric version, shown in the lead photo above at right, is coming later. Buick already sells a vehicle called a Velite 5 in China, which is essentially a rebadged Chevrolet Volt, only with a higher electric-only driving range. This one is based on the Velite concept PHEV introduced in late 2016 at Auto Guangzhou. The PHEV and battery-electric versions look nearly identical, with a wide stance, plenty of creases and a hatchback design that bears some similarities to the longer 2018 Regal TourX wagon. The Velite 6 uses two AC permanent-magnet synchronous motors, a lithium-ion battery and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder combustion engine. Buick says combined gas-electric driving range is 435 miles, which is 15 miles greater than the Volt. Buick will assemble what it calls the "new-generation" ternary battery pack at its new SAIC-GM Power Battery Development Center in Shanghai. The company says the Velite 6 electric vehicle "will adopt a new-generation pure electric drive system to offer customers a smooth, quiet and natural driving experience." Both models get the cloud-based Buick eConnect technology, which allows over-the-air software updates, real-time integration with China's WeChat social media network, and other digital perks. Owners will also be able to use their smartphone as the vehicle's key, and they can also authorize others to use the car through their phones. China has long been Buick's largest market, with more than 1.18 million vehicles sold in 2017 compared to just 219,231 in the U.S., and the country has established aggressive mandates for production of electric vehicles. GM has plans to add 20 new electric and fuel-cell vehicles globally by 2023. Related Video:
Movie Review: Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary
Thu, 06 Dec 2012As Buick currently claws and scratches its way back into relevance to compete against luxury brands like Lexus and Acura, it's hard to believe that not too long ago, the brand had a car that was mentioned in the same breath as Corvette, Lamborghini and Ferrari. That car? None other than the Buick Grand National. All black with a turbocharged V6 and some of the quickest acceleration of its time, the Grand National, in today's standards, is along the lines of a 2013 Shelby GT500 with both cars essentially being a working man's supercar.
The last Grand National rolled off the assembly line in Flint, MI on December 11, 1987, and to mark the silver anniversary of that somber occasion, Black Air is a documentary of the Grand National from the perspective of the enthusiast, the collector, the media and even from those at General Motors responsible for creating such a sinister legend. Like the car itself, Andrew Filippone Jr. shoots the documentary in a raw fashion, and it definitely helps to show why a low-volume muscle car from the 1980s is still the object of obsession for many automotive enthusiasts to this day.
KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners
Sat, 30 Mar 2013The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.
