1969 Buick Riviera on 2040-cars
Corsicana, Texas, United States
This has been a Texas car since new. No rust issues. I am the 3rd owner. The odometer reads 145,000 miles and is accurate. The 2nd owner bought the car from a workmate back in the 70s and kept it till 2012. At 135,000 miles he did a major rebuild on the motor and trans in 1988. In 1992 he had the car repainted with basecoat/clearcoat and had a new vinyl roof installed. The car was then stored in his garage for 20 years until I bought it. The paint still looks like new. There are 2 minor scratches on the very front of the rf fender when he backed it out of his garage. The bumpers still look great and all the trim is in good condition. The interior is original but could use replacing. It still shows well but replacing it would make this a great looking vehicle. The dash is intact as the new stereo system was installed without cutting the faceplate area. Also the rear speakers were installed in the original location and the rear deck was uncut. The front speakers were installed in custom front kick panels. The carpet and logo floor mats are new. The front suspension has been redone, all new shocks and rear coil springs done. The driveshaft has been rebalanced. I have replaced the steering gearbox.master cylinder, distributor, plug wires, front brakes have been overhauled,(new rear shoes in trunk). The a/c system has been gone thru and works fine. We enjoyed the 2013 Hot Rod Power Tour last June. Drove 3200 miles in 8 days without a problem. The tires have 5000 miles on them and 1 wheel center cap is cracked by the tire shop but is available online. One bit of trivia is the fact that we got 13 miles per gallon on the tour when all I expected was 10 (log book in glovebox). This car draws compliments very time we stop for gas cause people rarely see them. With a little investment this is an outstanding car for the money. Required from the winning bidder is a 500.00 non-refundable deposit due through PayPal within 24 hours of the auctions close, balance due in cash or by cetified cashiers check within 7 days.Shipping costs and arrangement are the buyers responsibility and we reserve the right to terminate the auction early. |

1969 Chevrolet Chevelle vs 1987 Buick GNX in Generation Gap showdown
Wed, 15 Oct 2014Generation Gap generally tries to adhere to a theme for each episode, and for the final video from the Lingenfelter collection, the series might have its best idea yet - limited-production muscle cars from General Motors.
On one side you get a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO, and it's an absolute sleeper. Other than the SS wheels, this classic coupe looks practically bone stock, at least until the engine fires up. Under the hood is a 427-cubic-inch (7.0-liter) V8 making a claimed 425 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This was the sole year for the COPO package on the Chevelle, and Chevy only made about 323 of them.
The Chevelle's challenger is almost as rare and arguably just as cool. The 1987 Buick Grand National GNX looks just as mean today as when new. It eschews a traditional muscular V8 in favor of a 3.8-liter turbo V6 making a claimed 276 hp and 360 lb-ft, although that number is supposedly a bit underrated. Also, just 547 examples of the GNX version were ever built making it quite a collector's item too.
New Buick Verano testing in Germany
Thu, 29 May 2014A refresh to Buick's popular Verano sedan appears to be nigh, thanks to these spy photos that show the tweaked four-door testing in Germany.
As with the current Verano, the refreshed model will have a great deal in common with its European platform-mates, the Vauxhall/Opel Astra. Each car rides on General Motors's Delta II platform. Unlike the current car, though, the refreshed model's styling could lean more heavily towards its European roots, if these photos are any indication.
Despite its commonality with the Astra Sedan, the Verano has featured its own unique styling since arriving in the US back in 2011 as a 2012 model, with distinct fascias at both the front and back, as wells its own headlight and taillight designs. The two cars were still rebadged vehicles, but it was more subtle than it will be in 2015, when the refreshed Verano arrives. Astra-like elements are expected to dominate, particularly in regards to the headlights and taillights. That said, trademark Buick styling features will remain, like the waterfall grille. Really, then, the 2016 Verano won't be unlike the Regal - a rebadged Vauxhall/Opel Insignia, aside from a few very small styling details.
KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners
Sat, 30 Mar 2013The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.
