1966 Buick Riviera Grand Sport Matching Numbers on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:86654
Location:

Souderton, Pennsylvania, United States

We're reluctantly offering our 1966 Buick Riviera Grand Sport & to my knowledge is all original with 86,864 miles, due to our age and in need of restoration. My wife & I instantly fell in love with this Riv the first time we saw it at a local dealer in 1983. We loved the beautiful plum paint, it's black interior & the Riviera wheels. We immediately purchased it. It even had two Vargo drag way class winner trophies on the back seat that we feel belong to the car & are included, (not in the best shape, they were stored in a damp basement.) This was our only transportation for approx. 7 years when the right front electric window opener failed along with the hide away head light mechanism. It did not pass inspection & our family was growing so we purchased a Suburban. It then sat in our garage for 8 years till we purchased a Corvette. I then drove it outside, put it on jack stands, removed spark plugs, shot in lots of CRC, reinstalled plugs & drained anitfreeze. Covered with rubber roofing material & unfortunately has been in that position ever since. It is now in need of restoration as pictures show. Body is showing some rust, all window glass is in nice condition, interior is still nice, with a few flaws, one seam in headliner has come loose & needs to be restitched, battery tray has rusted out & also took out lower radiator mount. Both front floor pans show some rust along with right rear & should be replaced, trunk shows only small surface rust & is very solid inside & out. Spare tire with black rim included along with original jack. Motor spins freely, but has not been started for approx. 23 years.

In my estimation it is a genuine number matching Grand Sport: Vin# 494876H925445, engine casting # B1364704, engine stamp # 6H149620  W187, intake manifold # 1872113, turbo hydro transmission, original tag on differential cover (must use positraction fluid), Riviera chrome wheels & caps, air conditioning, power steering, tilt wheel, tinted windows, power antenna, remote mirror, plum paint & black interior with grey headliner. Tag on cowl: build date 01B   ST 66-49487   EUC113522    TR627-D     UU PAINT    EX 2KR    4F    BODY BY FISHER

The only thing I changed: installed new brake lining front & rear, HD front & rear springs with adjustable shocks to accommodate a set of Tru spoke classic wire wheels & 235/75 R15 Michelin tires (these wheels & tires are not included in this auction, but are being offered separately.) Also a new automatic clutch for fan. All old parts are included. New exhaust was installed just before retirement & is still in very good condition.

I am not a professional & I do not want to misrepresent this car. Our desire is for it to find a good loving home like it once had. I highly recommend interested bidders to see first hand if at all possible. Please do not hesitate or request more pictures before bidding. Call Jay @ 215-723-8685. Thank you, happy bidding!!

Local pickup only, but will gladly entertain any other prearrangements.

Buick Regal GS and troupe of basketball dribblers make great beats

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

The 166 videos posted by YouTube music video maestro Kurt Hugo Schneider have been watched almost half a billion times. When Coke wanted to do something musically inclined and a little different, it called KHS, and the result was the video Little Talks.
Buick appears to be the next blue chip in line, and KHS' melodic celebration of the 259-horsepower Regal GS is called Epic Basketball + Car Beat. In it, a red Regal sits at center court in Venice Beach, California while a cast of ridiculous dribblers make music with and around the sedan.
We'll let the music speak for itself, which it does quite well in the video below.

GM cutting production at two plants

Thu, Feb 26 2015

General Motors is continuing to adjust to excess supply of some of its brands' models. To get production more in line with the vehicles' actual demand, the automotive giant is idling two of its factories in North America in the coming months. The Orion Assembly plant is going to be down from March 9-13, according to an anonymous plant worker and another insider speaking to Automotive News. The factory builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, but there are plenty of both models sitting on dealer lots, including 216 days worth of Sonics, according to AN. The factory already had two idle periods announced to reduce the excess. In addition, downtime is scheduled at GM's "Flex" line at the Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, plant from April 13-17. This affects supply of the Chevrolet Camaro, Impala, Buick Regal and Cadillac XTS. Among them, the automotive giant has the largest supply of Regals ready for dealers with 213 days worth of them, according to AN. The future for the whole Oshawa factory is cloudy in general, though. There are rumors that it could close entirely in the future because the Camaro is leaving and the Regal and XTS might not last much longer than 2017. The Canadian government and the labor union there intend to put up a fight, though. 2017 Buick LaCrosse an evolution of sharp Avenir concept

Wed, Nov 18 2015

After years as a bloated, uninspiring, but comfortable near-premium sedan, Buick has taken the wraps off a leaner, lither, far more stylish LaCrosse. The third-generation model has just made its debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show. While there's a lot to talk about, let's first address the new, Avenir-inspired sheetmetal. The fascia is basically the concept car smoothed over into production form, featuring the same winged trishield. In place of the chrome-trimmed waterfall, the LaCrosse gets a blacked-out, recessed grille with a chrome surround. It looks good in photos but it's better in person, adding a real sense of complexity and depth to the front end. The headlights and lower fascia, meanwhile, adhere closely to the concept. The same cannot be said of the LaCrosse's tail. While the taillight lighting pattern is similar, the overall shape of the lighting element is radically different, refining the design featured on the back of the Regal. Also gone, sadly, is the Avenir's boattail rear deck. Instead, the LaCrosse gets a small rear deck that curves up into a pleasant duckbill spoiler. The rest of the tail is pleasantly restrained. Perhaps the weakest point is the profile, where Buick has instituted a "split-spear" design, featuring a strong shoulder line above the rear wheel well, which sits below an even stronger character line that curves down and towards the front of the car. It strikes us as just a little too much, like the Impala. Underneath that sheetmetal, Buick has managed to trim nearly 300 pounds of body fat, nearly half of which came from the vehicle's actual structure. That 300 lbs, according to Buick's engineers, is equivalent to a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator, in case you needed a helpful comparison. Despite the weight savings, Buick has upped the torsional rigidity for this new model by 15 percent. The LaCrosse's cabin features a strong, cockpit-like design, with a high, floating-bridge center console. This is possible due to Buick's adaption of the Electronic Precision Shift system, introduced earlier this month on the new Cadillac XT5. Despite the new-fangled console design, Buick's retained the wraparound cabin style introduced on the second-gen model. Based on a quick crawl around the interior, space is great in front, although ingress in back is somewhat difficult due to the roofline. You're probably wondering why we haven't said anything about the mechanicals just yet.
