1966 Buick Riviera on 2040-cars
Henderson, Nevada, United States
I'm selling
this 1966 Riviera formally referred to in the 60’s as the Gentlemen’s Muscle
car... Rescued from the Arizona Desert this car has been sitting for years and
all I did to get it started and driving was air up the tires, clean the gas bowl
and fill it with gas, install a new battery and the car came to life. The body and
all the chrome bumpers are is in great shape with no dents or rust. The body
has had some minor custom work done by
someone in it’s past history like shaving the trunk lid lock as well as the
side emblems. There is some sign of bondo cracking where it was used to fill
these areas… The paint is peeling from sitting in the hot Arizona sun. There is no rust present in this car anywhere…
The car runs
and drives and shifts gears like it should. The air conditioning blows
cold but needs work on re-plumbing the rubber vacum lines as they have become brittle and need attention The air ducts under the dash need replaced because they have hardened over the years are very fragil and unravel when disconnecting .The car has power windows all around
that work . The passenger side is slow and sticks needing attention. The other windows go up and down and are working better each
time they are used..
As to the engine
on this car, It’s a 425 Nail head with a tag attached to the head saying it had
been rebuilt at one time. There is a small sputtering and annoying exhaust leak
but other than that the car sounds good. Once in a while when the car idle
drops lower that around 640 to 700 RPM I hear a rattle in the engine compartment
but at this time have not figured out what it is but, rev up the engine and it disappears
completely and no more noticeable signs of it at any speed .. Other than that the engine seems to run good, does not smoke but still needs work ... The oil has been changed, the gas tank cleaned,
the A arm bushings both top and bottom were replaced the front end was aligned,
a new alternator was installed as well as a new battery and the interior and
exterior was cleaned… The front brake cylinders were rebuilt and all work well
. The hidden headlights work ..
The car is missing
nothing that I can see except the original wheels. The tires are not in good
shape but hold air. The interior is in good shape as can be seen from the
photos. The seats are fabric and were sun bleached but with a little black dye on
the fabric inserts the black color of the fabric seats came back.. The carpet needs changed out,
the dash pad is in fair condition with a small tear on each end and can be
repaired with care. The radio works "AM" only as well as the power antenna
. . The vertical speedometer works very as it should as does the turn signals
and all the lights . Some of the gauges work part of the time and some all the
time including the gas gauge but still all of them could use grounding and wiring
connection attention as would any car that has sit that long in the desert… The
car has two electric fans for cooling the engine. At one time I think that this car was a beautiful custom paint and body combination and some ones
pride and joy..
If you have
any questions please feel free to email me. I’ll try to answer as quickly as
possible.

2013 Buick Verano Turbo
Thu, 03 Jan 2013Not Luxury. Not Sport. Not Buick. Not Bad.
Those of you who still think of the Buick Verano as some sort of callously badge-engineered, gussied up version of the Chevrolet Cruze ("Why would anyone spend that much money on Buick's Cruze?" you may have been heard to mutter) have got the wrong idea. Entirely. Even in its most modest form, the Verano turns out to be a sedan that is feature-rich, insulated from wind and road noise in proper luxury car fashion, pretty good to drive and not bad to look at in the new school of high-nosed pedestrian-impact-regulated fashion. In a less modest form then, one that attaches the word "Turbo" to the moniker and plops a force-fed 2.0-liter four-cylinder under the hood, the Verano is downright interesting.
Of course, "interesting" is rarely a descriptor that fills one with lust - and so it goes with this example. There are two competing forces within this near-premium subcompact sedan, and the balance struck between them must resonate with any potential customer before the Verano Turbo can become a serious purchase consideration.

March Madness upsets good for auto advertisers
Mon, Mar 23 2015There are no Cinderella teams left in the NCAA men's basketball tournament - the fairytales ended with Georgia State's loss to Xavier over the weekend. And even though the Sweet 16 is composed of elite teams - at the time of writing the lowest-ranked squad is 11th-seeded UCLA, which has most championships of any school in the country - there are still underdogs and surprises, and they are good for NCAA business and advertisers. Last year the March Madness Live app, which allows users to watch games on the go, was downloaded 4.5 million times, a jump of more than 40 percent over 2013. Buick sponsors the iOS version of the app, but more than a million of those downloads were for the Android version, sponsored by Infiniti since 2011. Part of Buick's engagement is a "Boss Button" on the livestream sites that can quickly mask the page with something your boss won't question you over. It also sponsors a trick-shot competition for fans, has a display in Bracket Town during the Final Four, and its cars lead the team buses through the city. Infiniti said last year's tourney increased online searches for the brand by 25 percent in March, and things are going even better this year: it's round-by-round bracket game drew 477,859 total entries in 2014, this year's game has signed up 534,350 already and the tournament has another two weeks to go. The luxury brand is all over the event, promoting the QX60 through to the Final Four, then moving its efforts to the Q50. It sponsors the Coaches vs. Cancer charity and will have an Infiniti Lounge near the Final Four venue in downtown Indianapolis. So for the two automakers keeping their own scores... come on, Wichita State! Six brackets, six chances to win a trip to #FinalFour 2016.
