1964.5 Buck Riviera Custom

"The Rivi"

OK, purists can stop looking right now J sadly this isn’t the car for you, but if you want a cool looking Hot Rod using one of (if not THE) sexiest  body style’s GM every produced, with some great custom mods, then keep on reading....this car is for YOU!

This is “The Rivi” as my son has coined it.

I built this car myself, in my garage, I have been building cars for personal enjoyment for over 25 years and I have had my Riviera for nearly 10 years. I have a couple of other major projects going on right now, so I need to let it go to a new (good) home.

My vision was a modern Pro-Touring/Street fighter look. You want chrome and flashy stuff, you won’t find much of that here I am afraid!

BODY - I began by adding a complete 65 front end (fenders, headlights, turn signals, custom lower bumper with driving lights and billet grill) I added genuine 1956 Buick portholes in the fenders, shaved the door handles/locks (doors are now controlled from a remote fob with a hidden emergency door button in the car), Hagen’s Hot Rods rear teardrop tail lights, exterior trim smoothed, custom hood scoop, front and rear spoilers and flared out the rockers for the side exhaust with custom exhaust tips.

Body is SEM’s color horizons Hot Rod Satin Silver. (7 quarts at $100 a quart!!) All trim/bumpers/grill/headlight doors are satin black. The trim is in excellent shape, as are the bumpers, painting was a "style" choice, not due to physical defect.

ENGINE/TRANS - Engine is the mighty 425 “nailhead” with a turbo 400 trans. Engine and trans are original with 70,000 miles. The engine is basically stock other than a new ELCO 2 x 4 barrel intake and a pair of rebuilt Edelbrock carbs. It has ELCO valve covers, chrome breathers and a billet thermostat housing. Engine has been well maintained and recently had new plug wires, plugs, upgraded coil and the oil/filter changed. Exhaust is a custom side exit type using Allens chambered mufflers (think 67 big block Corvette!!)

The car has power brakes and power steering.

INTERIOR - Is basically completely custom. The front and rear seats are red leather from a 2006 GTO, the fronts are power operated (forward, backward, up ,down, recline and special access for rear seats). The door panels, rear quarter panels, sail panels, rear deck and rear seat divider are all custom red/grey. Door and window handles are Billet Specialties.

Dash is custom built from machine turned aluminum with two 5” Autometer gauges (white with black needle/numbers).  The steering wheel is from Billet Specialties.

Stereo is a SONY head unit, speakers are all Blaupunkt and the amp is from Sony (trunk mounted).

SUSPENSION – The car has air bags front and rear, I would consider it a basic system, with the tank, pump and solenoids in the trunk and the 4 corner controls via billet buttons in the center console. Wheels are from Coys, custom painted satin centers/ gloss hopes with a hand painted red pinstripe and custom center caps. They are 20” x 8” front, 20” x 9.5” rear with brand new Toyo Proxes tires. Brakes are the classic finned Buick drums (power). I have a complete InLine Tube brake line kit that I have partially installed ( I did the main one that runs the length of the chassis, which is the real pain in the a$$ to replace!!). The rest will be in the trunk for the lucky winner!

Take a look at the pictures, the car sits right, looks mean and sounds awesome! (pictures show the car pancaked...it does go much higher than that :-))

WHAT IT NEEDS - I would say It needs a couple things here to really finish it off –  for example the air ride controls are pretty basic, I would spend the money and get a programmable control unit. You will need to put the autometer sending unit in the gas tank. The shifter needs adjustment, it doesn’t seem to “click” into drive, the trans is fine, it’s just the shifter itself.

The headlights are right now a manual process (you have to open the doors by hand). I was going to design an electric motor set up, but ran out of time.

It needs new door weather strip.

NONE of these things effect the way the car drives now, they are simply the icing on the top of a very cool looking satin silver cake!!

RULES – If you have less than 10 positive feedbacks, you MUST contact me first, if you don’t and you bid, It WILL be cancelled.

A NON – REFUNDABLE deposit of $1000 must be paid within 48 hours of the auction ending. No deposit in 48 hours—then I’ll re-list or offer the car to the second highest bidder.

Payment will need to be cash or wire transfer. Any type of check will need to clear before the car leaves my garage.

This auction sale is a binding agreement, do not bid high then think you can knock me down once you get here, come take look first if need be, ask for more pictures. I WILL send you home if you try haggling on the driveway. I won’t care if you have travelled 2, 200 or 2,000 miles.

If you need the car shipped, I will hold it for 2 weeks once paid in full, after that it gets re-listed with the forfeited deposit.

The car is bought as seen, I have listed a fair and honest description and welcome you to come and check it out first.

I have this car listed on a number of forums, in local, online and in print, advertisements. I am also taking it to local cruise nights and shows, therefore I RESERVE the right to end this auction at ANY TIME.

Sorry I am not interested in any trades for this car.

These rules are not me being difficult, they are to protect both myself and the winning bidder and they are respectful of the 100’s of hours I have in building and designing the car.

So happy bidding!! And if you can’t wait for the auction end, contact me and lets talk!

Spy photos of the upcoming Buick Regal wagon, via the Opel Insignia

Fri, Nov 11 2016

We're pretty sure Buick is working on a Regal wagon. And because the Regal is the Opel Insignia on the other side of the pond, these spy photos show us what's in store when it eventually turns into a Buick. The rakish wagon was lightly camouflaged, giving us our best look at the upcoming vehicle. The wagon shares a lot of the same design cues as the Insignia sedan that we spotted earlier. The bottom of the front end is covered in heavy camouflage, masking the wagon's grille. It's unsure to tell whether the black nostril-like pieces sitting above the grille are vents or just tape. The prototype still shares the same upright nose as the model we spotted earlier, giving the wagon a wider stance than its predecessor. The side profile of the wagon is sleeker, thanks to the extra four inches between the axles, than the current model is, with the design mimicking that of a shooting brake instead of a traditional wagon. The rear end of the wagon is also more upright with the taillights and bottom part of the fender jutting out beyond the glass. The boxy design sitting atop of the rear end doesn't match the rest of the vehicle and appears to be a part of the car's camouflage. With the tunnel-like design at the top gone, the rear end would have a more streamlined design. With the next Regal expected to continue on as a rebadged Insignia, the likelihood of a Regal Wagon in the US look good, but aren't set in stone. Late last year, Buick filed two trademarks for "Tourx" and "Regal Tourx," pointing towards a high-riding wagon with all-wheel drive. Imagine these spy shots with a taller suspension and some crossover-inspired trim pieces and you have a wagon that could take on the likes of the Subaru Outback and Audi Allroad. 2013 Buick Enclave

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

GM's Flagship Lambda Is (Still) A Smooth Operator
Consumers shopping for a domestic full-size crossover have heard all about GM's triplets. The Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave are a very appealing and talented group of siblings. Entering their fifth year of production, albeit middle-age in the automotive industry, each is attractive, well-rounded and very capable on the paved dance floor. While all share nearly identical base DNA and the same basic running gear, subtle physical differences and unique personalities emerge between the trio when one digs a bit deeper.
The most polished of the threesome, without question, is the Enclave from Buick. Fresh off a mid-cycle update (as are its siblings), the flagship of the platform boasts a facelift, innovative new features and an upgraded demeanor for the new model year.

2014 Buick Regal priced from $29,690*

Mon, 09 Sep 2013

Buick has announced pricing for the refreshed 2014 Regal. The base model offers a 2.0-liter, turbocharged, 259-horsepower, four-cylinder engine for $30,615 (*after $925 delivery and destination fee). The standard turbo can be replaced by Buick's eAssist mild hybrid system for $32,485. The electrified powertrain delivers 36 miles per gallon, in place of the turbo's 30 mpg on the highway.
The big powertrain news for 2014 is the inclusion of an all-wheel-drive system for an extra $2,175. Marking one of the few uses of all-wheel drive on a Buick car, the new Regal AWD has an electronic, limited-slip differential and a HiPer Strut front suspension, which is the same front arrangement used on the hot, front-drive Regal GS.
Speaking of the Regal GS, it's not so hot for 2014. It sports the same 259-horsepower engine as the standard Regal, but offsets that with a wealth of standard, optional or flat-out exclusive equipment like active dampers, Brembo brakes and a Bose stereo. Prices (all including the $925 fee) start at $37,830. Like the standard car, the GS will be available with all-wheel drive for the first time, bringing it a bit more in line with its cousins across the pond - Opel Insignia OPC and Vauxhall Insignia VXR. Prices for the GS AWD start at $40,195.
