This is my beautiful 1963 Buick Riviera that I have owned for about 2 years. I bought this car in New Hampshire and brought it over here last fall. To my knowledge I am only the 4th owner of this car since it was bought new in 63'. I believe the story is that the car was passed down from father to son in the same family, until the last owner needed to sell it because he needed the money. That's where I came in. When I got the car it was in great, running condition, and it still had the original white wall tires on it. The garage I bought it from also did a fair amount of work to it to make it drive as amazingly as it does now. This car is completely original except for the new tires and a Borla side pipe exhaust system that I had installed professionally last summer. I have taken very good care of this car. The last 2 winters since I have owned the car it has been in a temperature controlled garage, and during the summer I cleaned the whole car inside and out every week or so. Before I go into any more detail about the condition, please look at the pictures I supplied, and feel free to ask for more if you want them. The paint is in great condition for being original. The color looks as it did 50 years ago, and it is a great color to begin with. There are a few imperfections in it that can be seen in the pictures, but overall the paint looks fantastic. The engine (401 Nailhead V8), transmission, and suspension all work 100% correctly and it drives amazingly. The interior also looks amazing for its age. The seats are in great condition, the dashboard is perfect, and all the chrome knobs and buttons are still there. The original AM radio currently does not work although there is a new Sony radio, with a new chrome antenna installed in the glove box. I also replaced the original 6x9 speaker between the rear seats with a new one.  The carpet looks great in the front and under the front seats, but it needs a little attention underneath the rear floor mats. The floors are in great condition and there are no holes to be found anywhere. The underside of the car has some surface rust, but the car is solid and feels great. There are some small rust spots on the exterior of the car but a little TLC should make it look great. The car has only 90,000 original miles and it feels like it. Honestly this car drives better than most of the new cars I have driven. This was strictly a good weather car, and to my knowledge it has never touched snow or salt. I really love this car, and I'm fine with keeping it if I do not get a good enough offer on it. Please feel free to ask me any questions you have, and thank you so much for taking a look at my Buick. Thanks!

Opel Insignia wagon would make a mighty fine Buick Regal

Mon, Oct 17 2016

Once again, the Buick Regal's European stablemate will be getting a long-roof iteration, and our spy photographers have caught it out testing. Normally we wouldn't be overly concerned about the new Opel Insignia wagon, but considering the rumors surrounding a Regal wagon, we have reason to pay attention. Like the next-generation Insignia sedan that we've previously seen, this wagon adopts a much longer and wider look compared with the current model. The nose is also noticeably more upright than the gently sloping iteration of its predecessor. These changes are accompanied by more slender lights and a generally more broad-shouldered look. It's difficult to discern much else, though. As for the odds of this wagon appearing in the States, they look decent, but far from guaranteed. The next Regal sedan will probably continue as a rebadged Insignia, and may be built in Germany. Rumors of a wagon have persisted, supported by word of focus group testing with other wagons and the registration of a trademark for "Tourx." If Opel produces another high-riding, plastic-clad Country Tourer model, we could see it come here with the Tourx name to challenge the Subaru Outback, Audi Allroad, Volvo Cross Country models and, most recently, the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain. It would also provide the company with another crossover-esque model for little extra development cost. We've also heard a report that a Regal wagon of some sort was confirmed at a dealer meeting. GM recalling 2013 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX over transmission software

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued recalls for the 2013 Buick LaCrosse and 2013 Cadillac SRX due to a problem with the software for the transmission controller. On about 27,000 SRX and LaCrosse models, the transmission could accidentally be shifted to Sport mode, which would reduce the amount of engine braking drivers experience.
NHTSA says this could increase the risk of a crash, but, fortunately, the required fix is simply an update to the software.
While we're on the subject of General Motors vehicle recalls, a small number (48) of compressed natural gas versions of the 2011 Chevrolet Express are also being recalled for a potential risk of fire or explosion. Yikes. Both official recall notices are posted below.

Buick to use Velite name for its Cascada?

Mon, Dec 1 2014

Ever since Opel brought out the Cascada convertible last year, rumors have been flying that Buick would offer it Stateside – much like it does with the Insignia-based Regal and the Astra-based Verano. And now we might have our best clue yet as to what Buick might call it. According to GM Authority, General Motors has filed to use the name Velite on a new model. The name first appeared on a convertible concept unveiled over a decade ago at the 2004 New York Auto Show (pictured above), but GM reportedly opened an application to trademark the nameplate for production in 2011, seeking extensions on its application every six months since. Of course the fact that it's applied for its fifth extension (of a permissible six) doesn't necessarily mean that GM will ultimately bring the cabriolet to US showrooms, or that it will use the Velite name if it does, but the fact that GM is keeping the name alive could be a good sign. The market for relaxed four-seat convertibles has been shrinking, leaving it up to drop-top muscle cars like the Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang. But with entries like the Toyota Camry Solara, Volkswagen Eos and Chrysler 200 Convertible having dropped off the market, the Buick Velite (or Cascada, or whatever it's ultimately called) could have the sedate cabriolet segment all to itself – even if (or especially if) Lexus dealers aren't interested in touching it.
