11,500 mile 1987 Buick Regal Turbo-T. The first registered owner had
kept the car until 1990 at which time the car had approximately 9,400 miles. It was then sold and stored
(occasionally driven) until I had purchased it in 2013 at 9,900 miles. Because the car had been stored for so long,
I immediately had all fluids and filters serviced (9,913 miles) as well as a general inspection. The history of
this car is short, as it remains completely original with the exception of new B.F. Goodrich radial tires which
were replaced solely for safe. The engine, transmission, rear axle, exhaust, etc. are 100% original as the day the
car was sold. There have been NO upgrades of ANY kind for ANY reason. As you can see in the photos, the original
exhaust is intact and the factory catalytic converter is still in place. The exterior color is Burgundy Metallic
(option code 79U) and the interior is the matching Dark Claret (option code 79I). The option group for this car is
quite rare as it has very few added production options. It features T-Tops in addition to the black exterior trim
package, but has manual (non-power) chrome outside rear view mirrors (option code DR3). Most will debate that
these are not correct for the car (especially for performance models), but the photo of the door-related broadcast
codes proves 100% correct for this vehicle's build. Other oddities are fixed (non-power) radio antenna, no rear
window defrost, manual (non-power) locks, manual (non-power) seats, no cruise control, no power trunk release, etc.
The interior is completely original with absolutely NO evident wear of any kind. When you open the doors, the scent
of the fabrics is un-tainted, vintage 1987. The T-Top bags are included and show no wear. I've included all
documentation that was presented to me with the car except for recent maintenance receipts (due to privacy) which
will also be included. Some examples pictured are the bill of sale, odometer statement, GM service contract, sales
delivery check list, operating manuals, dealership repair orders, etc. I've included many photos as testament to
the originality and history (or lack of) of this rare Buick

2015 Buick Verano offered with six-speed manual after all
Mon, 09 Jun 2014Good news, boys and girls (well, at least those of you who still like shifting for yourselves). Buick got in touch with us to correct some information that it had mistakenly announced; namely, that the 2015 Verano will lose its optional six-speed manual transmission. Apparently, that announcement was incorrect, and the compact sedan will indeed continue to offer a manual option for 2015, despite what we're certain is a low take rate. Additionally, the Desert Dusk Metallic paint that was said to come as part of an Appearance Package is no longer part of the deal. With that out of the way, we now return you to your regularly scheduled automotive-obsessive broadcast...
Buick Velite 6 MAV is the brand's first all-electric vehicle
Mon, Apr 15 2019Buick is making a big splash at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show. It just debuted the brand's first all-electric vehicle, dubbed the Velite 6 MAV, which is a production version of the concept we saw a year ago. The vehicle is reportedly built on a new platform GM developed with China's SAIC and will be sold in China. This platform uses a "new-generation pure electric drive system," but it's not based on the new electric vehicle platform GM said is going to underpin new electric cars in the U.S. starting in 2021. Consumers may not want it here anyways. The electric motor makes 114 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque. It has a "city" electric driving range of 187 miles, but Buick doesn't quote any numbers as they would pertain to our EPA rating system. That's plenty of range for most folks, but the lack of power would be a tough sell here. Buick calls this thing an MAV, which stands for multi-activity vehicle. It's tough to put a car type on it, because it borrows elements from several different styles. We'll just distill it to a mash-up between a wagon and a crossover, sort of like the Subaru Outback. At least it appears utilitarian. Buick says that it costs about $25,000 after all the Chinese government subsidies for an electric vehicle have been applied. The goal here is to give the Buick-hungry Chinese market an electric option, and this doesn't look half bad. GM is even entering into a car-sharing venture to deploy 5,000 Velite 6s with EVCARD (car sharing company) into strategic areas. Those will reportedly be put into operation on April 28 this year.
7 major automakers to build open EV charging network
Wed, Jul 26 2023A new joint venture established by BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis will build a new North American electric vehicle charging network on a scale designed to compete with Tesla's industry-benchmark Supercharger network. The 30,000-plus planned new chargers will accommodate both Tesla's almost-standard North American Charging System (NACS) and existing automakers' Combined Charging System (CCS) options, effectively guaranteeing compatibility with the vast majority of current and upcoming electric models — whether they're from one of the involved automakers or not. "With the generational investments in public charging being implemented on the Federal and State level, the joint venture will leverage public and private funds to accelerate the installation of high-powered charging for customers. The new charging stations will be accessible to all battery-powered electric vehicles from any automaker using Combined Charging System (CCS) or North American Charging Standard (NACS) and are expected to meet or exceed the spirit and requirements of the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program." Critically, the automakers involved will have a say in how the charging tech is implemented, guaranteeing that the hardware will play nicely with each automaker's in-house charging systems. Hyundai and Kia, for example, were hesitant to jump on board the Tesla NACS bandwagon earlier this year over concerns that the Supercharger network is insufficient for powering the two automakers' 800-volt charging systems; similar tech is used by Volkswagen and Porsche. In addition to providing much-needed capacity and high-output charging for America's growing fleet of electric cars and trucks, the new network will integrate seamlessly with each automaker's in-app and in-vehicle features, rather than forcing customers to use third-party tools and payment systems, as is the case with some existing public charging infrastructure. "The functions and services of the network will allow for seamless integration with participating automakersÂ’ in-vehicle and in-app experiences, including reservations, intelligent route planning and navigation, payment applications, transparent energy management and more. In addition, the network will leverage Plug & Charge technology to further enhance the customer experience," the announcement said.
