During the early '90s, very few American made convertibles were available to the buying public. Buick's entry into the luxury 2-seat convertible market, the Reatta, is one of the most unique and seldom seen cars produced by GM during this era. With low production numbers, the Reatta Convertible is appreciating in value!

History:

The Buick Reatta Sports Coupe and Convertible (added in 1990-91) is a now a classic and very collectible American sports car designed by GM and which was built for only three years from 1988-91 and they were hand crafted by a team of craftsmen in a series of nine craft stations at the 'Reatta Craft Center' in Lansing, MI and not on the assembly line with a quality of workmanship that still shows toady. Each car was shipped with a signed certificate by all 5 team leaders of each team responsible for the specific segments of the Reatta with a pride and dedication to quality workmanship for paint finish; body panel fit; instrument/steering column/electrical system; interior trim and drivetrain/brake system and the craftsman log was signed only after meeting the highest possible standards of its day. This particular car will also be sold with its original Buick Reatta 'Craftsman Log'

The Convertible models are now very rare and desirable to Buick enthusiasts and collectors as only 2,132 Convertibles were built in 1990 and 305 Convertibles in 1991 compared to 19,314 Coupes during the 3 year Reatta production run.

Next Buick Regal to inherit styling cues from Opel Monza concept

    Mon, 06 Oct 2014

Ever look at a concept car from a foreign auto marque like Opel and wonder what relevance it will have to you as an American consumer? Well, we'll tell you: at least as far as the Opel Monza concept goes, it could mean a lot.
Speaking with Automotive News at the Paris Motor Show, Opel chief Karl-Thomas Neumann said, "You will see the Monza when you see the next Insignia." And the Insignia, we needn't point out, is essentially ported over to American showrooms as the Buick Regal.
The relationship between the Regal and Insignia only stands to grow closer as Opel design chief Mark Adams has also been charged with tightening the bonds between the two automakers positioned on opposite shores of the Atlantic. Adams also intends to imbue the next Insignia with more "premium brand values" in order to "add polish to the brand." Which in turn means that the Regal will be designed to look more upscale, too.

2013 Buick Encore nets strong IIHS, NHTSA safety scores

    Wed, 05 Jun 2013

After being crushed from every which way and rolled over like a labrador, the 2013 Buick Encore has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To earn the accolade, a vehicle must achieve the highest rating of "Good" in each of the institute's four main crash tests: Front Moderate Overlap, Side, Rollover and Rear. The Encore aced those four tests with "Good" ratings, but missed out on the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation by receiving a Poor rating in the institute's new Front Small Overlap test. To be named a Top Safety Pick+, the Encore would need to score at least an "Acceptable" rating in the new test, as well as "Good" in all four original crash tests.
Despite the miss, the Encore joins the Enclave, LaCrosse, Verano and Regal as Top Safety Picks all. If you count only the Encore with all-wheel drive, then all five Buicks have also earned five-star overall ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration, making Buick one of the few manufacturers to offer a full lineup with high scores from both safety rating organizations.
The front-wheel-drive Encore, despite performing equally as well as the all-wheel-drive version in NHTSA's crash tests, only earned four stars overall. As far as we can tell, the discrepancy between the two is because some safety equipment, like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Assist, are optional features on the FWD Encore and standard on the AWD model.

Buick picks top 11 highlights from first 11 decades

    Sun, 21 Apr 2013

Buick has taken the time to highlight some of the company's personal points of pride from the past 110 years. Those include everything from the automaker's very first vehicle, the 1904 Model B, to what Buick claims is the world's first concept car: The 1938 Y Job (above). That one also walked away with the worst name for a design study.
All told, the automaker has sold 43 million vehicles through the end of last year, and those include the lusty 1963 Riviera. That model celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013, and remains one of the brand's most iconic designs.
Of course, Buick is rightfully proud of its quickest model, too. The 1987 GNX managed a 4.6-second bolt to 60 mph in tests by Car and Driver, and it also took the honor of being one of the automaker's rarest creations at just 547 units. You can check out all 10 in the gallery above.
