Reatta convertible number 907268 is up for auction. I have owned this Reatta 8 months. I am considering the purchase of a local Reatta coupe and have decided to see if I can sell a couple of cars. So, due to space issues this car is up for auction.

1 of approximately 2100 1990 Buick Reatta convertibles, this car started in North Carolina and has no rust. It runs and drives well but has some mechanical maintenance issues that will need sorted out.  I would trust this Reatta up to 300 miles. Has a rebuilt transmission. I heard from the Reatta crowd that this one had great maintenance under it's original owner. Although it has 202,000 miles, it still runs well, shifts well (rebuilt transmission) and overall handles nicely.

I purchased it for $2600 and have put an ultra premium battery in it ($155) so while I have no reserve, I did just start the auction out at my cost. If it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell, but I don't want to lose money on it. If you want to pay $2600 then bring a battery and I'll keep the one I bought.

OK-

Runs well but surges warm. Never dies, but surges. Starts right up easily. Idles nice cold and OK warm.  Transmission rebuilt.

Interior shows it's age. Drivers seat bottom needs replaced or reupholstered. Rest is OK, Drivers door panel has some wear.

Top is fully worn. I mean it works but shows poor. Works in all positions. Headlights may need repair. I have never tried to raise them. Horn pads missing, have some available. Wipers work, and dash lights work. Heating/ a/c functions somewhat - a/c does not work that I know of.

I have driven this car about 400 exercise miles last fall and it provides a good driver convertible experience, it's just that the car needs fully sorted out.

BODY
The body is solid with no rust but has clear coat peel, small hood dings (2-3) multiple scratches and such. It needs paint. Needs a new top but again, the top functions well and is weatherproof.

2 tires leak down. The car sits - so the tires tend to leak down probably from non use.  Handling seems fine, suspension OK.  The original owner of this car took good care of it, but it needs general restoration.

My costs are:  $2600 for the car, $155 for the battery.  Like I said, there is a nice 1990 Reatta coupe close by that I want to purchase and I am out of room so one needs to go out, if one comes in.   Call with questions at 515-520-2611

Engine by is normal, unmolested so I didn't include a photo.

Buick has best sales year ever, delivers over 1M cars globally

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

If there are any lingering doubts why General Motors held onto Buick while killing Pontiac, Hummer and Saturn, one only has to look at the sales numbers from 2013 for the real answer. Thanks largely to strong sales in China, Buick set a global sales record last year by selling more than one million vehicles.
The lion's share of Buick sales came from China, which sold more than 809,000 units - about four times more Buicks than were sold in North America as a whole. In the US, the Buick Encore accounted for almost half of all US sales with 97,311 units as Buick spent the summer trying to keep up with demand of the subcompact crossover. Likewise, China-only models like the GL8 minivan and Excelle sedan (same as the US-spec Verano) were strong sellers in that market.
For good measure, Buick more than doubled its sales in Mexico with 2,319 units. Scroll down for the full press release.

Updated Buick LaCrosse, Regal to debut at New York Auto Show

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Judging by the spy shots we saw last week for the 2014 Buick LaCrosse and 2014 Buick Regal, we knew it wouldn't be much longer until we saw both sedans receive a grand debut. Today, Buick confirmed to Autoblog both cars will be introduced at the New York Auto Show next month, but no further information has yet been released about either model.
Having been on the market for an extra couple years, the changes to the LaCrosse appear to be more significant than those coming for the Regal, but both will be getting refreshed exterior designs as well as updated interiors. The Regal's new face brings it more in line with the all-new Encore and the restyled Enclave, while the LaCrosse should get a more distinctive, upscale appearance.
Both cars will be introduced exactly a month from today, and we'll be there to bring you all the coverage.

Junkyard Gem: 1978 Buick Skylark Sedan

Sat, Feb 20 2021

Around the time that OPEC shut off the oil taps, The General realized that it was time to sell more small cars from GM divisions not previously known for such machines. The logical candidate for this project was the Chevrolet Nova, a rear-wheel-drive compact that shared much of its chassis design with the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. The Nova-based Pontiac Ventura came out in the 1971 model year, and the Buick and Oldsmobile Divisions began producing their own badge-engineered Nova siblings for 1973 (Cadillac was late to the party, but eventually created the Nova-based Seville for 1976). At first, the Buickized Nova got Apollo badges, but the better-known Skylark name was applied to these cars for the 1975 through 1979 model years. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those Nova-based Skylarks, found in a Denver self-serve yard. From the 1964 through 1972 model years, the Skylark lived on the A-Body chassis and was sibling to the Chevrolet Chevelle/Malibu, Pontiac LeMans/Tempest/GTO, and Oldsmobile Cutlass/442. After the 1975-1979 rear-wheel-drive X-Body phase, the Skylark name then went onto the unrelatedĀ front-wheel-dive X-Body chassis developed for the Chevrolet Citation. It's a Nova, sure, but Buick made sure that it had a bit more swank than its Chevy counterpart. Checked seat fabric with big square buttons! The base engine in the '78 Skylark was the 3.8-liter Buick V6, rated at 110 horsepower. GM had invested in a new crankshaft design for this engine the year before, so it no longer had the "odd-fire" cut-down V8 crankshaft that shook the fillings out of so many drivers' teeth in earlier years. An assortment of low-compression V8s from Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Buick were available as optional equipment as well, eventually leading to the "Chevymobile" lawsuits of a few years later. The base transmission in this car was a three-speed manual (I'm not sure if you could still get a three-on-the-tree column-shift manual Skylark in 1978, but a three-on-the-floor manual was available for sure). The very last three-on-the-tree car Americans could buy was the '79 Nova and its Olds Omega/Pontiac Phoenix siblings, while the final three-on-the-floor cars were the '81 Malibu and siblings. This car has the optional three-speed automatic.
