IT HAS POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, POWER CONVERTIBLE TOP AND VERY RARE DUAL REMOTE OUTSIDE MIRRORS. MUCH OF THE PAINT IS ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THR BACK PART OF THE CAR. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD HIS INSURANCE COMPANY REPAINT THE REAR QUARTERS AND TRUNK, RE CHROME THE REAR BUMPER, RESTORE THE SIDE MOLDINGS AFTER SOMEONE BUMPED INTO THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT, THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF THE DAMAGE. THE ORIGINAL PAINT LOOKS VERY GOOD BUT DOES SHOW SHOW IT'S AGE WITH SOME FADING AND CHECKING. THE BODY, FRAME AND FLOOR PANS ARE RUST FREE. THERE IS ONE VERY SMALL RUST SPOT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE TRUNK PAN NEAR THE INNER WHEEL HOUSE. IT STILL HAS TWO ORIGINAL T-3 HEADLIGHTS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE FRONT SEAT WAS RE UPHOLSTERED ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO EXACTLY LIKE ORIGINAL AND IS STILL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE CARPETS WERE ALSO REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME. THE ORIGINAL, DATE CODED CONVERTIBLE TOP BOOT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE CAR DRIVES EXTREMELY WELL, SMOOTH WITH TIGHT STEERING, SHIFTS PERFECTLY AND HAS GOOD BRAKES. THE ENGINE RUNS VERY SMOOTH, HAS GOOD POWER BUT IS PROBABLY DUE FOR A REBUILD. SMOKES A LITTLE FROM SITTING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HAS SLIGHT TICK FOR 3-4 SECONDS ON START UP AND AT 45-50 MPH. EVERYTHING IS WORKING EXCEPT THE DIRECTIONAL SIGNALS, FAN BLOWER MOTOR AND THE POWER TOP NEEDS A NEW MOTOR OR SWITCH. FUEL GAUGE, HORN, RADIO, INTERIOR LIGHTS ALL WORK. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL AND ORIGINAL AM RADIO FOR THE CAR. PLEASE CALL ME AT 208-640-3246 IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR NEED ADDITIONAL PICTURES. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING

Automakers' sound systems: Crank it, don't yank it
Thu, Jun 21 2018Years ago, one of the first things most music lovers did after buying a new vehicle was drive to an aftermarket stereo shop to get the crappy stock components swapped for better gear. And you'd typically get not only better sound but also more bang (and boom) for your buck. But in the past decade or so, the overall quality of OEM audio has dramatically increased, while car electronics became more complex, removing the incentive for most new vehicle owners — and all but the most hardcore DIYer — to start from scratch. In 2010, I did a comparison of the average costs for OEM electronics vs. similar offerings from the aftermarket, and back then automakers' stock premium systems were by far the best bargain — and are probably an even better value now. The premium 14-speaker, 1,200-watt JBL system in the all-new 2019 Toyota Avalon is a prime example of this trend. It's standard on the top two Limited and Touring trims and is available as a $680 audio upgrade on the XLE and XSE. I doubt you can even buy 14 speakers and 1,200 watts of amplification from the aftermarket for 700 bucks, much less have it all installed. And because the system is bundled with Toyota's Entune infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and a surround-view camera, removing the head unit means you would likely lose these features. Another advantage of OEMs and their audio partners is they can design the car around the audio system. In the past, automakers would typically place speakers where convenient for packaging, not for optimal sound reproduction, and audio engineers were forced to compromise. But as with the Avalon's premium JBL audio system, this is starting to change. At a recent behind-the-scenes peek for media into the process of developing the system, Toyota and Harman engineers delved into the minutia of sealing the inner panel of the front doors to create an enclosure for 6x8-inch woofers, making space in the pillars for JBL horn tweeters and extensively measuring the acoustic properties of the interior to tune the sound to the space. I'm met some creative and skilled car stereo installers, but none with a degree in psychoacoustics. The system is also the first to feature Quantum Logic Surround that creates a multi-channel listening experience from two-channel sources. And it includes Harman's Clari-Fi processing that "rebuilds key details lost" in compressed audio formats used by streaming music services and MP3s.
Buick to use Velite name for its Cascada?
Mon, Dec 1 2014Ever since Opel brought out the Cascada convertible last year, rumors have been flying that Buick would offer it Stateside – much like it does with the Insignia-based Regal and the Astra-based Verano. And now we might have our best clue yet as to what Buick might call it. According to GM Authority, General Motors has filed to use the name Velite on a new model. The name first appeared on a convertible concept unveiled over a decade ago at the 2004 New York Auto Show (pictured above), but GM reportedly opened an application to trademark the nameplate for production in 2011, seeking extensions on its application every six months since. Of course the fact that it's applied for its fifth extension (of a permissible six) doesn't necessarily mean that GM will ultimately bring the cabriolet to US showrooms, or that it will use the Velite name if it does, but the fact that GM is keeping the name alive could be a good sign. The market for relaxed four-seat convertibles has been shrinking, leaving it up to drop-top muscle cars like the Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang. But with entries like the Toyota Camry Solara, Volkswagen Eos and Chrysler 200 Convertible having dropped off the market, the Buick Velite (or Cascada, or whatever it's ultimately called) could have the sedate cabriolet segment all to itself – even if (or especially if) Lexus dealers aren't interested in touching it.
GM recalls 64k 2011-2013 Volts over carbon monoxide fears, stop sale on Trax and Encore
Thu, Mar 12 2015General Motors is recalling 50,249 Chevrolet Volts from the 2011-2013 model years in the US and an additional 13,937 exported examples because of fears over carbon monoxide buildup. According to a statement, if a Volt is accidentally left on while running on electric power, its internal combustion engine would eventually kick on to charge on the battery. If this happens in an enclosed space, then carbon monoxide can fill the area, leading to a potential exposure to the dangerous gas. According to GM, there have been two injuries reported due to this issue. To fix the problem, there's a software update to limit the time the vehicle can idle. According to Automotive News, GM is also issuing a stop sale on about 2,300 examples of the 2015 Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore. In these compact crossovers, it's possible that the steering column assembly could touch the power steering circuit board and cause damage over time. This could potentially cause the system to stop working. Automotive News indicates that the automaker is still working with the supplier to get the necessary parts to repair this problem. General Motors is recalling 50,249 Chevrolet Volts in the U.S. from the 2011-2013 model years to implement a software update that will limit the amount of time a vehicle can be left idling in the "on" or "run" position. If a driver exits the vehicle and inadvertently leaves the vehicle "on" by failing to react to cues and warning chimes emitted by the vehicle, the vehicle's high-voltage battery will drain after a period of time and the gasoline engine will begin to run. If the gas engine runs for a long period of time within an enclosed space, such as a garage, carbon monoxide could build up. GM is aware of two injuries, both related to carbon monoxide build up. The total recall population including Canada and exports is 64,186. Related Video:
