Up for auction with NO RESERVE!!! is a beautiful, extremely clean and almost completely original, factory produced, California 1985 Buick Grand National! This is a real deal survivor, matching numbers Buick Grand National with the very rare factory sunroof and digital dash option. With only 62,888 low original miles on the factory Turbo-Charged V6 it is practically a time capsule for Buick’s flagship luxury muscle car of 1985. The paint is all-original to the car and shines very well as you can see in the pictures. GM paint quality from the 80’s is notoriously lousy so there is some fading on the rear spoiler and clear coat issues on the hood area. This might be able to be brought back with a good buff or wet sand. A car is only original once and this car still sports the paint job it rolled out of the factory with. The doors, hood and trunk line up properly and shut with a solid “thump” as they should. There is minor touchup paint on the rear driver quarter panel as seen in pic. There is some road wear here and there in the body and paint from the car being driven over the years but overall looks nice for being original to the car and from the mid 80’s. The factory emblems and decals are still in tact and look great. The factory Buick rally wheels are original to the car and in good condition. The tires are in great shape and have lots of tread left. All the exterior lighting is in good original condition and works as it should. The headlights, brake lights, back-up lights, high beams and turn signals all work great. The factory 200HP 300FT/LB 3.8 Liter Turbo-Charged V6 has only 62,888 original miles on it. It fires right up and has never left me stranded ever. The car does have an uneven idle at start up but goes away after warmed up and drives amazing as always. It is a blast to drive and keeps up very well in modern traffic either on the freeway, around town or just out for a cruise on a country back road. The engine bay is extremely clean and the factory hood heat shielding is in excellent condition. The hood hydraulics are weak and do not hold the hood up anymore, so they should be changed out. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and fluidly through all the gears with no stalling or hesitation. The rear end is also all-original to the car. It performs as it should with no whining or funny noises. The stock suspension is in great condition and really makes for a very comfortable ride. The stock brakes are in great condition and stop the car straight with no pulling to either side. They perform as they should and are very confidence inspiring. The interior of this Grand National is almost mint. Everything is original with the exception of a pioneer CD player installed in the factory location. The dash was not cut and the original factory stereo is included with the car. The more modern stereo system sounds fantastic compared to the original Buick deck but you could go back to the stock stereo if you desired. The front driver and passenger seats are in beautiful condition with no tears or rips anywhere. The power driver seat controls work as they should and adjust the seat properly. The carpet is very clean and free of any rips or tears. The back seats are very clean and have no rips or tears. There is a tiny small hole on the bottom portion of the passenger side back seat and there is a small hole about the size of a dime where the bottom and top portion of the driver side back seat meets. It is almost un-noticeable since it lies in the crevice portion of the seat as seen in pics. Can be patched for $150 making them perfect. Other than that all the seats are in excellent condition. The car since last ownership has been absolutely 100% a smoke free car and has no funny odors or smells at all. The door panels are very clean and free of scuff marks and nicks. Other than that the door panels are both very clean. All the controls on both door panels work as they should including the: power windows and lock/unlock buttons. The dash is in excellent condition with no cracks and has not been cut or modified. The rare factory gauges are digital and all work flawlessly and are accurate including the: speedometer, gas gauge, trip meter, tach, factory boost gauge, water temp and voltmeter. The factory turbo boost indication lights work properly as do all the dash lights and readouts. The digital climate control system was a rare option in 1985 and this Grand National has it. All the indicator lights and control buttons work as they should and the entire system works great. The A/C will need to be recharged as it has not been done in years. As mentioned before the pioneer CD player is in place of the stock stereo currently and it sounds amazing! The headliner is in excellent condition with no rips or tears and the vanity lights and courtesy lights all work great. All controls everywhere on the interior of the car work as they should. The center console is in great condition as well as the rest of the interior panels. The little chrome bits like the handles and lock pulls are in excellent condition with no pitting and are original to the car. The sunroof was a factory option and this one is in great shape with no cracks or nicks. It works as it should and the factory sliding cover is very clean and lines up properly. The trunk is very clean and the lid has been dynamated. There is a subwoofer box/amp with 2 MTX 12’s that is easily removable if you so desire but it does very much complement the existing stereo system. The trunk does not rattle thanks to the dynamat and the sound it produces is very clean and not muffled. The factory spare tire is still in the trunk and the original factory jack is also included with the car. This Grand National also has an alarm with keyless entry and panic functions and two key fobs are included. The original window sticker is included with the car from its sales date back in 1985. It shows the specs and options that this car was built with and is a very coveted piece of documentation with any classic car. This factory original, survivor, optioned out 1985 Buick Grand National is in excellent shape through and through. It is the perfect modern classic or collector car to kick off your summer with a bang! Nice, un-molested, factory original examples of Grand Nationals are getting harder and harder to find. In 1985 just 2102 were sold. Who knows how many remain. Most were stolen, hacked up or crashed leaving them with a salvaged title, but not this one!!.. This is your chance to own a beautiful modern classic that is at home at any car show or just out for a weekend cruise. You get modern conveniences and all the looks, smiles, comments and fun of owning a classic car. This is an excellent entry into the classic car market. Prices on these cars are on the rise. This is an investment that you can drive everyday and enjoy while it goes up and up and up in value everyday you own it. Don’t miss your chance to get this Grand National for NO RESERVE!!! Please look at my feedback and bid with confidence. Good luck!

Malaise Era Junkyard Gem: 1979 Buick Electra Limited

Wed, Jun 22 2016

In the fall of 1973, the Arab members of OPEC shut off the oil taps, and Detroit got busy making many of their full-sized land yachts a lot smaller. By model year 1977, the downsized fifth-generation Buick Electra was ready to go ... just in time for the 1979 Iranian Revolution to squeeze the supply of the black stuff even further. You won't see many of the 1977-85 Electras these days, but I spotted this faded but solid '79 Limited sedan in a Denver self-service yard last week. General Motors must have bought up the entire world's supply of blue velour around this time, because you'll see this stuff in just about every car they made for the following decade or so. By this time, GM was doing a lot of mixing-and-matching with engines from its various divisions, which meant you could buy an Oldsmobile 88 with a Chevrolet 350 V8 engine, a Chevrolet Monza with a Buick 231 V6 engine, or— as in this case— a Buick Electra with an Oldsmobile 350 V8 engine. Do you want to know how many horses this engine delivered to this 3,631-pound car? 155 horsepower out of 5.7 liters of engine displacement. Times were tough during the Malaise Era. Buick Envision arrives in US next year

Fri, Jul 24 2015

In a detailed piece on what General Motors has planned for the Buick brand stateside, Automotive News reports that the Envision will finally come to the US a little more than a year from now, in the latter half of 2016. The size gap between the small Encore and the large Enclave is a perfect fit for the Chevrolet Equinox-sized Envision. Assuming this actually happens, it should excite both customers and Buick dealers. In China, the Envision uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 256 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed transmission. Before then, dealers sales forces will be preparing for the Cascada convertible, expected in Q1 next year. Later in 2016, around the same time as the Envision gets here, we can expect a redesigned Verano sedan. AN says it "should grow in length and interior roominess, similar to the Chevy Cruze," but the Verano already roughly matches or exceeds many Cruze dimensions. The Chinese-market Verano that premiered at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year probably holds some clues to what we'll see, but our version might not be an exact copy. A redesigned, lighter, and slightly larger LaCrosse will be right there with it. In 2017 the redesigned Regal appears. Following the trend, it also gets larger, but that's required because it needs to be more distinct from that larger Verano. AN suggests a new base engine will go in the Regal, perhaps something as small as the 1.5-liter turbo being lined up for the 2016 Chevy Malibu. At the other end, executives are said to be considering importing the diesel Opel Insignia wagon for the Regal lineup. If they bring the manual over, auto scribes will probably take the day off when the first one arrives, and make it an industry holiday.

2021 Buick Envision fuel economy revealed

Mon, Sep 28 2020

Despite being revealed a few months ago, the 2021 Buick Envision has been lacking in in-depth details. But thanks to the EPA, we have a bit more information on the luxury crossover, specifically fuel economy. And it seems the new model is significantly more efficient than its predecessor. The only powertrain combination we have numbers for at the moment is the turbocharged engine with all-wheel drive. The Envision is expected to have a front-wheel-drive version, too, though an example with the old model's naturally aspirated four-cylinder is probably long gone. As for the turbo, all-wheel-drive Envision, it will get 22 mpg in the city, 29 on the highway, and 25 combined. That's the exact same as the old naturally aspirated, front-drive Envision, and it's an improvement of 2 mpg in town, 4 on the highway and 3 in combined driving over the previous turbo, all-wheel-drive version. As an extra bonus, the EPA notes that the new turbo Envision runs on regular gasoline, rather than premium like the old Envision. So not only will it use less gas, what it uses costs less. We're expecting the new Envision to go on sale early next year. While we know that the Envision will have a turbocharged engine, and the naturally aspirated one is probably discontinued, we don't know which engine it is. It could be an updated version of the old engine, which made 252 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, or it could be the engine from the Cadillac XT4, which makes 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The latter seems more likely, since the XT4 gets similar fuel economy. A nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive are also planned for the crossover. Related Video:
