Buick: Grand National on 2040-cars
Milledgeville, Georgia, United States
On Aug-16-14 at 06:42:01 PDT, seller added the following information: I am regretfully selling my dream car. I looked for over two years to find a one owner, low mileage Buick Grand National that fit my qualifications. Due to a new edition in the family, I am selling my car to one lucky individual. The car is in great condition! There is a small paint issue is to the right of that. I have included pictures showing these issues. The car also needs front bumper fillers but the back ones are original and look fine although a little tacky from the age. This car is all original with the exception of new JL 6X9 speakers that fit exactly in place of the old ones and an IPod attachment located behind a newly restored original GM Delco radio. The radio has new all new components so the tape deck works and all of the lights are bright! I will include the old radio as well. The Ipod can be accessed inside the glove compartment which, by the way, works fine. Everything works just as it did in 1987. The car has very straight lines and drives like a dream! The air blows very cold since I had the A/C completely overhauled and kept it on R-12 which is very expensive by the way! . The antenna works perfect as I had a NOS recently installed. The interior is immaculate and I'm pretty sure the back seat has never been used. The headliner has been replaced to exact specifications, the radiator was pulled and fixed to original specs. The car has an all new Power Master brake unit I purchased from Kirbin Performance which is where I originally located the car in the first place. The car has had all new wires and plugs, a new battery and complete servicing since I purchased the car almost 2 years ago. I have only driven the car less than 500 miles since I purchased the car from a man in New Jersey where he last had it inspected to drive on the road in 1991. It was always garaged kept and routinely started and serviced. The T-Tops do NOT leak at all as I have washed the car after every time I drove it and would have noticed it and told you. The car smells new inside and still has the original plastic around the speedometer. The upper dash trim panel piece was replaced with a NOS unit. The original stickers are also in tact on the inside of the car. I also replaced both front air dams with NOS. The tires are not original but are in good shape. There is a little surface rust on the rims. The paint looks to be original and in overall great shape but according to the previous owner he did have some small places touched up but I cant see them. I am sorry to say that I do not have the original window sticker. Overall, this is a beautiful low mileage 2nd owner November of 1987 Buick Grand National. Everything on the car I mentioned above could be completely fixed without too much cost and with such low miles your investment would be protected! I have thoroughly enjoyed this car and hope the winner appreciates it as much as I have! I also will provide all of my service records and original car fax documenting the original miles! Please ask questions before you bid! I will be happy to answer any and all. Call or text me at 706-319-1604. Thanks! Eric |

New Takata problem results in recall of 414 GM vehicles
Mon, Oct 19 2015An airbag-inflator rupture discovered by Takata during testing has resulted in a new recall affecting 414 vehicles from General Motors, including 395 of them in the US. This latest campaign covers 2015 model-year examples of the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro, Equinox, Malibu, and GMC Terrain. There are no reported breaks in any of these vehicles on the road, and the company estimates only one percent of them actually have the faulty parts. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), one side-airbag inflator failed a cold test at -40 Fahrenheit "releasing high pressure gas and propelling the separated components apart." The supplier told GM about the failure the next day. In these vehicles, the safety device might not only burst but the bag could inflate incorrectly, as well. GM and Takata say that a cause is not yet known, but they are "conducting an investigation." GM will begin notifying affected owners via overnight mail on Oct. 19. Dealers will replace the side airbag modules on all of the affected vehicles with new components outside of the suspect lot. All of the removed parts will also be collected for further study. Takata's faulty front airbag inflators have resulted in a serious scandal for the supplier. Initial figures indicated 34 million US vehicles are need of repair, though more recent figures have knocked that down to 23.4 million bad parts in 19.2 million automobiles. GM was already among the dozen automakers with models to fix, and some of its pickups were affected, along with the Saab 9-2X and Pontiac Vibe. GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 395 cars and crossovers in the U.S. because one of the front seat side air bags inflators may be defective. In the event of a deployment, the air bag's inflator may rupture and the air bag may not properly inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. GM is unaware of any incidents involving vehicles with these components, which were part of a lot in which one inflator failed acceptance testing at the supplier. Dealers will replace the side air bag module or modules in affected vehicles. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population of the recall is 414, GM estimates 1 percent of the recalled vehicles may have the defect.
Jay Leno recaps Pebble Beach
Wed, Sep 30 2015Each year at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance the picturesque, ocean-side setting of the golf course becomes a parking lot for a vast array of multi-million dollar vehicles. However, if you missed the posh event this year, then Jay Leno has you covered yet again. For a nearly hour-long installment of Jay Leno's Garage, the comedian has dumped his denim in favor of a suit to take viewers on an insider tour of the lavish gathering. He interviewed some of the most talented designers in the auto industry, too. Leno starts off checking out a few beautiful classics by the shore, but things really get interesting for his stroll down the Concept Car Lawn for a scoop on the vehicles of tomorrow. Ed Welburn tells Leno all about the Buick Avenir, and Shiro Nakamura offers a tour of the Infiniti Q60. Plus, there are detailed looks at the Lincoln Continental, Hyundai Vision G Coupe, and Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6. Third 1987 Buick Regal GNX will be auctioned in January
Mon, Nov 13 2017A member of the 1987 Buick press fleet is hitting the auction block next year and it's a rarified gem: a low-mileage Regal Grand National GNX, serial No. 003 and one of just 547 models built for that year, and the last of the traditional body-on-frame, rear-wheel-drive Grand Nationals. It'll be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January. The GNX No. 003 was loaned out to publications including Autoweek, Motor Trend and Road & Track, where it racked up around 8,200 miles. "Through it all, a constant sad undertone was the understanding that 1987 was to be the final appearance of the traditional body-on-frame, rear-wheel-drive G-body (which also underpinned the best-selling Chevy Monte Carlo, Pontiac Grand Prix and Olds Cutlass)," reads a the description published on Barrett-Jackson's website. "A totally redesigned W-body Somerset Regal, with front-wheel drive and unitized body construction, was slated to replace the popular midsize Buick in 1988." So Buick opted to make "a Grand National to end all Grand Nationals" with the '87 GNX, partnering with ASC/McLaren to equip them with wheel lip flares, fender vents, 16-by-8-inch BBS rims and more aggressive tires. It left untouched the Grand National's standard Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection 3.8-liter V6 but added a larger Garrett T-3 turbocharger with a ceramic impeller, a larger intercooler, more aggressive fuel, spark and waste gate tables, and a dual exhaust system that boosted output from 235 horsepower and 330 foot-pounds of torque to 276 hp and 360 lb-ft. That was enough, Barrett-Jackson reports, to make the performance coupe quicker and faster in quarter-mile tests than the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 930 Turbo. After making the test-drive rounds in the automotive media, the car sold in 1988 as a brass hat/company official car to Fischer Buick in Troy, Mich. with approximately 8,200 miles on it. From there, it quickly sold to a local resident who drove it very little, and sold it in the spring of 1989. Since 1992, it has reportedly been kept in climate-controlled storage, totally original, unmodified and undamaged, with just 10,790 miles on the odometer today. It recently underwent a complete mechanical service and cosmetic reconditioning. You can check out the listing on Barrett-Jackson here. The first '87 GNX ever produced resides in the General Motors Heritage Collection and No. 002 is at the Sloan Museum in Flint, Mich. Interestingly, another '87 GNX, No.
