For sale is the 1986 Buick Grand National which I have owned for 2 decades. This car has much emotional value and has been in the family for a very long time. The only reason I am selling it is because I am in need of a pickup truck for work. It is far from perfect but we made every effort to give it the power it deserves while maintaining it as close to stock as possible (i.e. no crazy upgrades, just ones that made sense). Vehicle has never been raced. All of the following engine work has less than 3000 miles on it. Powertrain work: GN1 Upgrade Kit from Poston Enterprises: Champion Roller Rockers. Champion GN1 Heads. Hi-Per Rebuild Kit with Forged Pistons and 030 rings. Rod and main bearings. Head bolts. Valve covers. Valve seals. Oil pump booster plate. Timing cover. 40lbs injectors. Special computer chip for fuel injectors. TE44C turbo charger. Turbo oil feed line. 65mm plenum. 65mm throttle body. Duttweiler neck. Exhaust down pipe. All of this was done along with a full rebuild of the original engine block. Also, transmission fully rebuilt, driveshaft fully rebuilt, rear axle service, new brakes, new tires, new aluminum wheels, new suspension including coil springs, new 3 inch aluminum radiator for cooling. And of course, a torque strap, new coil, wires, spark plugs, water pump, timing chain kit, etc.... Body work: The only body work I have done on the car is replace them awful bumper fillers that flake and fall apart with upgraded fiberglass fillers. The trunk lid has about a 3 inch by 1/2 inch section of rust. The remainder of the body is in excellent condition. Interior work: I installed the VDO gauges on the pillar, speed overlay on the cluster. Seats and interior is original. Dash has a 5 inch section that is pulling up and should be relatively easy to repair. The T tops are original and do not leak. The headliner needs some adhesive. The little chrome strip across the dash is pealing. All the engine parts were powder coated to keep from dis coloring or peeling. The car runs like a rocket. Serious bidders only please. This car is available to be seen prior to auction end but be aware, this car has never been abused nor will it be as long as I own it, so please do not think you are coming to take it out and rip up the asphalt on my watch... Any questions are welcome. $250 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of auction ending. Buyer arranges pickup or shipping, I am more than willing to accomodate meeting the transport or anything of that nature.

Malaise Era Junkyard Gem: 1979 Buick Electra Limited
Wed, Jun 22 2016In the fall of 1973, the Arab members of OPEC shut off the oil taps, and Detroit got busy making many of their full-sized land yachts a lot smaller. By model year 1977, the downsized fifth-generation Buick Electra was ready to go ... just in time for the 1979 Iranian Revolution to squeeze the supply of the black stuff even further. You won't see many of the 1977-85 Electras these days, but I spotted this faded but solid '79 Limited sedan in a Denver self-service yard last week. General Motors must have bought up the entire world's supply of blue velour around this time, because you'll see this stuff in just about every car they made for the following decade or so. By this time, GM was doing a lot of mixing-and-matching with engines from its various divisions, which meant you could buy an Oldsmobile 88 with a Chevrolet 350 V8 engine, a Chevrolet Monza with a Buick 231 V6 engine, or— as in this case— a Buick Electra with an Oldsmobile 350 V8 engine. Do you want to know how many horses this engine delivered to this 3,631-pound car? 155 horsepower out of 5.7 liters of engine displacement. Times were tough during the Malaise Era. Black Friday could power record November sales
Thu, Nov 26 2015Black Friday allows some shoppers to line up in the wee hours for doorbuster deals on laptops and TVs, but the day after Thanksgiving could mean huge profits for automakers this year, too. Multiple industry analysts predict record growth for the industry for November, and the upcoming incentives could help those numbers. TrueCar predicts that Black Friday incentives could provide a major boost, and it estimates a November sales jump of 3.9 percent from last year to a record for the month at over 1.35 million vehicles. As examples of potential deals, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC plan to offer up to 20 percent off some models, and FCA US has no-interest financing for up to 75 months from its brands. "Consumers are excited about Black Friday promotions and these month-long events appear to be resonating with car buyers." Eric Lyman, TrueCar's vice president of industry insights, said in the report. Black Friday only recently became a big day for auto sales, according to an analysis from Edmunds. Last year, Thanksgiving weekend posted double the sales as any other weekend in the month. The company predicts a sales volume of over 1.33 million vehicles for November. If that happens, it would be the beat the previous record of 1.32 million sales for the same month in 2001. Some forecasts temper the gains for November but only slightly. Kelley Blue Book predicts flat year-over-year sales at 1.3 million vehicles, but that's largely because there are two fewer sales days in 2015 versus in 2014. "Black Friday deals on vehicles have grown in popularity in recent years, and should be a big contributor to this month's sales results," said analyst Tim Fleming in the study. The combined research from J.D. Power and LMC Automotive have the lowest November prediction among this group at just over 1.279 million sales for the month versus 1.299 million in 2014. However, once the researchers adjust the figures for the two fewer selling days, 2015 could actually be seven percent higher than last year. TrueCar Finds New Auto Sales in November to Reach Monthly Record Black Friday promotions bolster sales gains; industrywide incentives up 6% from last year November 24, 2015 12:11 PM Eastern Standard Time SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TrueCar, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUE) projects total new vehicle sales, including fleet deliveries, will reach 1,352,500 units in November, a 3.9 percent increase from a year ago and the highest ever for the month.
