Muscle car needs a loving home!  This car has been in the family since 1988.  He has been mostly garaged for the last 8 years.  It was stolen and recovered about 10 years ago.  Since then, it has gotten a rebuilt engine and new transmission, new paint job, a new turbo, 3" exhaust, stainless alternator, stainless cylinder cover, alarm, etc.  I have replaced the seats, roof liner, door seals, center console, various interior parts, etc.  I have the original chip, but a couple performance chips as well.  He sits in the garage most days, hooked up to a battery conditioner.  I take him out for exercise on nice days about once a month, but unfortunately he does not get the attention it deserves.  He is a driving car, not a show baby.  Don't get me wrong, it looks great, but has a couple scratches by the drivers door (DO NOT wear a knife in your pocket when you get in.  I cried a little.) and a very small ding (I have to hunt for it and I know it's there) on the hood from dropping a jeweler's screw driver that bounced off the battery and onto the hood.  I have an assortment of spare and xtra parts lying around that will go with him - the old turbo cover, the old air conditioning face, another tire and rim, a cover, etc.  Very fun to drive and really the last of the big ol' American muscle cars.  I hate to sell him, but need the space in the garage and feel guilty for not being able to drive him more.  And, oh yes, chicks dig it.

GM recalling 2013 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX over transmission software

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued recalls for the 2013 Buick LaCrosse and 2013 Cadillac SRX due to a problem with the software for the transmission controller. On about 27,000 SRX and LaCrosse models, the transmission could accidentally be shifted to Sport mode, which would reduce the amount of engine braking drivers experience.
NHTSA says this could increase the risk of a crash, but, fortunately, the required fix is simply an update to the software.
While we're on the subject of General Motors vehicle recalls, a small number (48) of compressed natural gas versions of the 2011 Chevrolet Express are also being recalled for a potential risk of fire or explosion. Yikes. Both official recall notices are posted below.

A Buick Regal wagon is coming to America

Fri, Mar 17 2017

The signs have all been pointing to the US getting a Buick version of the gorgeous Opel Insignia wagon, and we now have the most concrete evidence yet that the rumors were true. Our spy photographer caught one of the wagons out testing, and it features a number of styling cues that indicate this one is coming to America. The most obvious change is the grille. While the overall shape remains the same, the look of the grille itself is altered. The geometric slats of the Opel- and Holden-badged versions have been exchanged for Buick's trademark waterfall bars. The badge itself is significantly larger, too. Aside from that, a close look reveals subtle changes along the lower edge of the car. The fenders seem to be slightly flared. They're complemented by sideskirts that are rounder and chunkier than that of the normal Insignia wagon. These styling touches also suggest that this Buick variant will take on the psuedo-crossover aesthetic with black plastic body cladding. If this is the case, the Buick Regal wagon could be the high-riding, plastic-clad Regal TourX that's been rumored. We know that General Motors trademarked the TourX name a while back, and Buick wants more crossovers or crossover-esque vehicles since they make up the majority of the brand's sales. It would also be an excellent option to established models such as the Audi A4 Allroad, Volvo V60 Cross Country, and Subaru Outback. Considering the fact that we've seen the Opel Insignia and Holden Commodore revealed already, we expect the Buick versions to be fully revealed sometime this year. Related Video:

GM trademarks 'Sport Touring' for Buick Regal, LaCrosse

Thu, May 7 2015

Discovering trademarking or patents from automakers always fascinates us since the filings hint at the possible future of motoring. Based on two recent applications, Buick has something possibly brewing for two of its sedans, because the company now has the trademark for Sport Touring on the Regal (pictured above in GS trim) and LaCrosse. According to GM Inside News, both trademarks are dated April 27 and are simply described to the US Patent and Trademark Office as being for "motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles." That doesn't narrow things down at all. However, since the moniker is specifically for both sedans, Sport Touring might be a new trim or special edition for them. Buick had no comment when reached by Autoblog. Of course, there are a whole host of automotive trademarks that are claimed that end up with no actual vehicle in showrooms. Unfortunately, we just have to wait to find out if this is another case like the Buick Enclave Tuscan where the filing offers a preview of the future or a situation like the still long-awaited return of the Supra.
