Up for auction with NO RESERVE!!! is a CALIFORNIA BLACK PLATE 1964 Buick Riviera. I recently took this car along with several other cars in trade for my 1955 Chevy. I will do my best to accurately describe the vehicle as I've been told and as I see it. There are over 100 pictures that tell the full story and to show accurately what I see in person. Starting with the outside. The body is very straight and solid. I did notice some bubbling near the rocker before the rear wheel well. The rest of the car looks VERY SOLID along with the floors and trunk. I was told that the car was painted a few years ago and has been driven sparingly. There are a few tiny chips and defects in the paint that have been pointed out in the pictures. The color is a VERY NICE CANDY METALLIC RED with a PEARL WHITE ROOF that gives this Riviera a VERY SHARP CUSTOM LOOK! ALL the chrome and brightwork are ORIGINAL to the vehicle and in GOOD SHAPE. ALL the glass is in EXCELLENT SHAPE! ALL the windows roll up and down as they should. The hood, doors and trunk all shut SOLID. The car comes with a BRAND NEW SET OF NEW CHROME MOLDINGS FOR THE REAR QUARTER PANEL COVES. The car retains its ORIGINAL BLACK AND YELLOW CALIFORNIA PLATES! The car is rolling on its ORIGINAL BUICK RALLY WHEELS that have had the inserts being painted body color. One of the center caps has a crack however they are still made and easy to find. The car has newer radial tires on all four corners with plenty of tread. The STOCK ENGINE has been REBUILT and has low miles and it VERY SANITARY as you can see in the pictures with NO LEAKS OR GREASE! The car has a NEW EDELBROCK CARBURETOR and a CHROME EDELBROCK AIR CLEANER. It has a NEW FLEX RADIATOR HOSE. It has an ACCEL COIL. It also has a clutch fan, POWER STEERING and POWER BRAKES. Please take a look at the pictures to see how CLEAN and SANITARY IT IS! It is VERY IMPRESSIVE! Along with the car being painted the UPHOLSTERY has been COMPLETELY REDONE. It is ALL STOCK with the exception of a GT steering wheel and aftermarket stereo installed in the dash. The heater controls have been removed and a CUSTOM panel was made to house a temperature gauge. I was told all the mechanisms to control the heater are still intact in the dash but I have not opened up the dash to confirm this.  The interior is SUPER CLEAN and SHOWS VERY WELL! The courtesy lights do not work. The glove box is missing the glove box liner. The glovebox map light is missing its cover. The stereo is not currently hooked up. The speedometer was bouncy when driving this car home from a 100 mile road trip but now for some reason it is reading accurately. It seems to have fixed itself. The clock and gas gauge are not working. The wipers do not work. I haven't looked into it. I gauge the gas consumption by reading the odometer. ALL the outside LIGHTS WORK as seen in the pictures. The rear driver side tail lamp lightbulb socket fits loose and its looks like it was taped in there to keep it in place. This is a common problem with most Rivieras and the parts are easily available. The rear package tray has a pair of 6x9's installed. There are also a couple 6x9's installed in the trunk along with an amp. The trunk has a FULL SIZE MATCHING SPARE ON A STOCK BUICK RALLY WHEEL. If you plan on driving this car home I'd be more than happy to rain-x the front windshield for you which repels any water. THIS CAR RUNS WELL AND SOUNDS GOOD AND CRUISES DOWN THE FREEWAY. IT HAS GREAT POWER AND TORQUE AND IT A FANTASTIC RIDE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO CALL. DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE TO GET AN AWESOME CALIFORNIA BLACK PLATE 1964 BUICK RIVIERA THAT TURNS HEADS EVERY TIME YOU TAKE IT OUT! AND AT NO RESERVE!!! PEOPLE LOVE THIS CAR AND ALWAYS WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT IT! IT IS AT HOME AT CAR SHOWS OR JUST CRUISING AROUND TOWN. IT IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND A BLAST TO DRIVE SO BID TO WIN AND GOOD LUCK!

Wagons make a bit of a comeback, with new models, sales on the rise

Thu, Jan 10 2019

Consider this an official invitation to hop on the wagon bandwagon. There's still tons of room because, well, it's a wagon (and market share is still extremely small). But according to new data, the segment is growing. According to a report from Bloomberg, using data from Edmunds.com, roughly 211,600 Americans purchased wagons in 2018. That is technically down from the 237,600 sold in 2017, but wagon sales in the U.S. are up 29 percent from where they were five years ago. It's also the third year in a row that wagon sales broke the 200,000 mark. The sales trends have been somewhat representative of the availability of wagons. New models have debuted during the past 5 years and therefore offer more opportunity at more brands to buy wagons. In addition to more modest cars such as the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen, several luxury and performance brands are offering wagons today, such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo and Buick. (Bloomberg's headlines make the point that "crossovers are for the Kardashians," and wagons are just, well, classier.) This uptick in brand-name availability, as well as extremely well-executed design on most of the wagons currently available, has helped increase the segment's desirability. That, and its ability to better accomplish the same tasks at hand while standing out from the crossover and SUV crowd. Still, the posted numbers represent a small fraction of the total vehicles sold. According to the data, wagons only held a 1.4 percent market share in 2017, the segment's best recent year. Wagons hold a steadfast place in America's past, and they're writing an interesting new story. With the downturn in traditional cars, they may continue to create an unexpected narrative. We want this Buick Regal wagon rumor to be true

Tue, May 31 2016

The car we know in the US as the Buick Regal is sold as a Vauxhall/ Opel Insignia in Europe, where it's offered in four-door sedan, five-door liftback, and wagon body styles. Call it a case of wanting what we can't have, but we like the last two body styles a lot. Based on a report from a Buick/ GMC dealer meeting in Austin, one of them could be coming to the US soon. According to a poster identified as 97GreenRS on the forums at GM Inside News, GM showed dealers the 2018 Buick Enclave, Regal, and Regal GS, as well as the 2018 GMC Terrain, and then confirmed it would offer the Regal wagon here in the US. While that wouldn't normally be all that much to go on, we know Buick has been toying with the idea of a wagon for some time. A Regal-badged wagon was spotted way back in 2011. More recently, we reported on a trademark filing for "Tourx" and "Regal Tourx," which suggest a long roof (Tour) and all-wheel drive (x). If the Regal wagon arrives alongside the base sedan and GS as a 2018 model, we'd expect a debut within the next 15 or so months. That would place it right at the beginning of the 2017 auto show season, which starts next September in Frankfurt, Germany. With that in mind, it seems possible the new Regal would debut first as an Opel Insignia before appearing at a US show like Los Angeles or Detroit, although there's a lot of speculation going on there. We just want to see "Buick" and "wagon" in the same sentence again. Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 1973 Buick LeSabre Custom Hardtop Sedan

Sat, Oct 26 2019

The steps on Alfred Sloan's "Ladder of Success," in which you'd start your career by buying a Chevrolet and then move up through the GM marques as your wealth increased, stayed rigidly fixed from the 1930s into the late 1960s. By the early 1970s, though, "prestige creep" among The General's divisions had set in, with lower-zoot marques leapfrogging their betters with ballooning price tags and snob appeal; a fully-loaded Chevy Caprice could cost more than an Olds 98, a Pontiac Bonneville could out-snoot a Buick LeSabre, and the LeSabre itself came to threaten mighty Cadillac at the top of the GM pyramid. Here's a fully depreciated '73 LeSabre Custom Hardtop Sedan, once the picture of Malaise Era opulence but now brought down to earth in a San Jose self-service car graveyard. The high-rollingest of all LeSabres in 1973 was the Custom (though shoppers for full-sized 1973 Buicks really wishing to rub the noses of their lessers in their success could opt for the even pricier Centurion or Electra 225), and that's what I found among the Achievas and Cateras of this yard's GM section. Wasps now nest in the rust holes caused by rainwater seeping beneath the padded vinyl roof, but this car once told the world, "I've made it!" It went without saying that your big, comfy Detroit luxury sedan had a big, comfy front bench seat; let those frivolous rakehells in their Rivieras have their bucket seats. Believe it or not, a three-on-the-tree column-shift manual transmission was still standard equipment on the lower-level Buick Century in 1973, but all LeSabre buyers enjoyed two-pedal luxury that year. Some junkyard shopper grabbed the massive 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 — rated at 225 horsepower, due to Nixon's stricter emissions standards and the switch from gross to net horsepower ratingsĀ Ā— before I got here. I'm guessing this car got driven into the ground by the early 2000s (there's a 2001 calendar inside) and then spent the next couple of decades bleaching in the harsh South Bay sun before arriving here. So good, shoppers bought them sight unseen!
