2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir gets dash of flash
Wed, Nov 8 2017The 2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir continues the rollout of the top-trim Avenir line, joining the Enclave. They use the same strategy: package some extra features as standard and give the vehicles more design flair. On the outside, the LaCrosse Avenir gets shiny chrome mesh grilles and Avenir badging, just like the Enclave. Two types of wheels are available on the LaCrosse, either 19-inch pieces finished in "Pearl Nickel" or 20-inch versions finished in "Midnight Silver." Inside, there is exclusive chestnut brown leather interior. The Avenir logo is stitched into the headrests of the seats and is displayed on the door sill plates. Aside from the visual tweaks, the Avenir trim adds a bunch of standard features. Among the convenience items are navigation, a sunroof and a Bose sound system. It also features the nine-speed automatic transmission hooked up to the 310-horsepower V6. But items such as the trick all-wheel-drive system and continuously adjustable suspension are still options. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but expect it to be more than the $42,090 of the next highest-trim LaCrosse Premium with the V6. And Buick expects it will sell plenty of these cars, since it also revealed that 90 percent of LaCrosse buyers choose the top two trims out of the four available. J.D. Power customer survey of dealers counts Cadillac, Buick as big winners
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Cadillac and Buick have taken the trophies in J.D. Power's latest Customer Service Index Study examining satisfaction with dealer service. Surveying more than 90,000 owners and lessees of 2009-2013 model-year cars, the study found that those with pre-paid maintenance packages were ten percent more likely to buy their next car from the same brand.
Dealer satisfaction scores have improved overall, Cadillac nabbed the luxury segment ahead of Audi and Lexus, taking the crown that Lexus held last year. Buick keeps the mass-market dealer satisfaction win in the family, finishing ahead of Volkswagen and last year's winner GMC. The study also found that service department use of tablets increased customer satisfaction, as did "best practices" like "providing helpful advice." Who knew?

Opel to be shuttered in China, but will restart Buick production in Germany
Fri, 28 Mar 2014Opel, General Motors' troubled German brand continues its quest to reinvent itself and find solid profitability. In the course of that metamorphosis, the company has a bit of good news/bad news today. The good news is, it will once again begin screwing together Buick models for the American market. The bad news, though, is that it's being shut down in yet another country, China.
Let's start with the good news. The last vehicle Opel's Ruesselsheim factory built for the North American market was the early run of the then-new Regal, which is based heavily on the Opel Insignia. Production ran for just over two years, from 2009 to 2011, before moving production to Oshawa, Ontario.
Now, thanks to a 245-million-euro investment (just over $336 million), Opel will kick off production of a unspecified model for the US in the "second half of the decade," according to Automotive News. According to Opel, the new model will be announced before the end of 2014.
