Welcome to my Buick regal auction! First thing I would like to state is I am sorry about the cancelling  of everyones bids and ending last weeks auction early. My reason for this is the Regal is being fitted with a NEW AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM and some of the parts are on back order. I thought it would be ready this weekend but it turns out the car will not be ready until later this coming week. I want the car 100% ready for its new owner at auctions end.

When I acquired the car it was very cold and rainy weatherwise. Checking the a/c was hard because I could not see the compressor well in this weather and the purchase had to happen fast. Partly because there was a short line behind me to buy the car.  I made my decision and I DO NOT regret it. This car is in such NEW condition in all other areas.

I had the a/c system checked and recharged because it was a can low on freon. After the charge the compressor had some difficulty coming on but after some continued efforts it came to life....Shortly...The compressor clutch locked up. Soooo to wrap this up I am having a new COMPRESSOR, DRIER, ORIFICE and other related parts replaced. This along with the new alternator and battery add up to over $1000 in work and thats at my discounted price that I get with my shop.

I could have tried to just sell the car as is or try and cover it up but that is not my way. I like to do things the right way and I take pride in having 100% positive feedback.

Thanks for your understanding

GEORGIA CAR FROM NEW ABSOLUTELY NO RUST ANYWHERE!

This 1991 Regal Limited is like new! You really have to see to believe. 22,600 miles I am adding a few miles daily. I aqcuired the car from the estate of the elderly owner who is now deceased. I have a picture of the one owner title. The car was bought new at Family Buick Olds GMC in Dalton Ga. My hometown. It has always stayed in Dalton. The car is currently located in Chattanooga Tn.

The cars interior is excellent! The headliner and the velour around the doors is as new. The armrests on the doors and in the center look to have never been used. All the window switches look new and the cruise control/wiper/turn signal stalk look as new. The carpet is almost perfect. No stains or wear. All of the woodgrain is as new. The dash is crack free and there is no sun fading anywhere. It just hard to describe considering the age of the car. Amazing.

All options work. It has power everything including driver seat. The power antenna works fully. The radio does not have a good sound quality but its original and it works. The car runs cool and has great oil pressure and voltage (new alternator and battery). The ashtray is like new and the cigarette lighter works. The gas gauges does swing wildly back and forth when driving but always settle back to an accurate reading.

I pulled an autocheck and it confirms a one owner with no accidents and no odometer fraud. Squeaky clean report! scored a 37 which is above the average of 27. I have this report available to email if you would like to see it

The tires appear to be original Goodyears with the exception of one newer Michelin. I have driven the car on the freeway at 80mph and they still seem very roadworthy. But be aware they are old. The spare is original and looks to be never used. The rims are in very good shape with no deterioration or bad scrapes. The car drives straight as an arrow and no shakes or shimmies at all. This car rides very well and the shocks/struts are quiet and provide that classic Buick ride. She floats down the freeway! The 3.8 L27  V-6 fires instantly and runs very smooth. It has excellent power. This is a much improvement over the standard 3.1 V-6. The 4spd 4T60 automatic transmission shifts perfectly with no slipping or flaring. It shifts instantly and quietly from drive to reverse and so forth. There are no issues here and I just had the car serviced. No issues.

The exterior of the car is great as well. The paint shows signs of swirling from carwashing but no clear coat peel or fading. Only a few minor nicks mainly around the drivers door handle. The corners of the car are scratch free and has had NO scrapes or scrubs with parked cars or garages. The front airdam is scratch and scuff free. All the lights work and the headlights are crystal clear. All of the chrome is present and very shiny. No dents or dings here either. All of the glass is like new with no pitting or cracks. This car was most likely garaged its entire life.

The only faults I can think of is the driver seat has a hardly noticeable scuff high on the seatback. I did not even see it until after a few days. Like I said very minor and probably does not even need addressing. I do have a picture available to email. I also did not notice until the next day that it is missing the felt speaker cover on the drivers door. Again very minor and I am looking for a replacement now. Look in the pictures and see if you notice....The hood release inside broke off in my hand..It will still open tho. Considering the age....I think these items are very fixable and probably not worth fixing at all. I personally wouldnt...Well except for the speaker cover missingis a little annoying. Only because the interior is so nice.  I am hunting for one but I cant promise replacment.

My Buick is a neat old car that would make a daily driver for anyone or put up and keep a while. I think it is rare because it is loaded with options. This Limited model is the very top of the line for the day. You would be hard pressed to find another one of this quality.

Please email me here thru the eBay tab and I will be glad to talk to you by phone or thru email

I do require a $500 non-refundable deposit at the end of the auction. Within 24hrs please. I am a private seller so I do not charge sales tax. At least before March 1st...The law will change. Just go ahead and "buy it now" You will be pleased!  Thanks!!! Joe

Dear America, you don't need as much power as you think

Wed, Oct 4 2023

I recently won a 0-20-mph drag race against a Chevrolet Volt. A day later I smoked a Tesla Model 3. “Um OK,” youÂ’re thinking, “that canÂ’t be that hard.” Well, except that the vehicle I was piloting featured a hybrid powertrain of a Bosch electric motor and 40-year-old human legs. ThatÂ’s right, I out accelerated automobiles on a bicycle. On another occasion, I found myself driving behind my wife in her 2023 Kia Niro EV. The specs say it accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds, a time thatÂ’s six-tenths off the pace of KiaÂ’s rear-motor-only EV6, a vehicle IÂ’ve repeatedly read being described as “slow.” The Niro, therefore, must be extra-slow. And yet, as she turned left onto a highway onramp, she rocketed forward leaving me in a Mercedes-AMG C43 and every other car in the left turn lane in the distance. I share these anecdotes not to boast about my cycling ability, nor my wife having a lead foot. No no. IÂ’m crap and she really doesnÂ’t. Instead, I want to point out that most drivers accelerate very slowly. The notion of “bigger is better” will forever be engrained in the American psyche, but when it comes to horsepower largesse, todayÂ’s cars hilariously exceed both the expectations and driving habits of most drivers. Most car buyers just donÂ’t have a frame of reference when it comes to equating 0-60 times, output figures and the actual feeling of acceleration.   Eat my dust, Mr Volt! Now, we in the automotive-reviewing media absolutely share some of this blame. We like accelerating quickly and cars that accelerate quicker are bound to reap more positive reviews. At the very least, weÂ’re obligated to point out when a carÂ’s acceleration is slower than a certain competitor's or the segmentÂ’s average. However, just because Car A is slower than Car B doesnÂ’t make Car A slow. It makes it slower. For example, the dual-motor EV6 may be 2 full seconds quicker from 0-60 than the rear-motor model – a relatively massive difference – but barring a back-to-back drive or a wealth of comparative knowledge, itÂ’s laughable to think that the average driver could possibly deem the rear-motor version “slow.” Because it isnÂ’t. The near-universal use of turbocharging, the popularity of all-wheel-drive and increased proliferation of electric motors has resulted in this rapid drop in 0-60 times thatÂ’s outpacing customer expectations and driving habits.

Buick might be getting a logo makeover

Fri, 23 Nov 2012

General Motors has finished off an extensive model overhaul for its Buick division, but along with its updated cars, the brand might also be getting a new logo. According to the Detroit Free Press, GM North America President Mark Reuss indicated that the Buick tri-shield logo could be getting a makeover, but offered no further information.
It is unlikely Buick will completely redesign or replace its current logo, but the article seems to indicate that it might return to color; although all chrome now, the logo used to feature red, white and blue shields. Head on over to the Detroit Free Press article to look at some past Buick logos including one from 1904.

Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers

Wed, Aug 14 2024

Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.
