This auction is for a nice original one owner (I am the 2nd owner, title not transferred) 1973 Buick Electra Limited with 67,000 original miles.  This is a nice original car with some body dents/scrapes but overall a fantastic original car which would make an excellent club touring car.  The interior is near pristine with some water spots on the seating near the windows probably owing to the 4 door hardtop sealing in heavy rain or car washes.

Please note I go out of my way to reveal issues which make the car not perfect but these do not detract from the overall beauty of this car because it is unmolested.  Note the bumper rubber-perfect. There is no rust EXCEPT for bubbling in 2 spots at the base of the vinyl padded top in back and what appears to be some rust on the hood caused from unremoved bird droppings? that sort of thing.

There is a small dent on the drivers front fender and a door ding which detracts from appearance on the drivers door. I received a $950 estimate to remove these and blend new paint. I have not done this work however.

The rest of the body and chrome are spectacular original and this car begs to be left that way. I am selling because in 2012, I ended up purchasing a total of 6 cars. Way too many. Most of my other cars are non running projects with no real value. They would be difficult to sell because few people are doing extensive projects.  This car was purchased so that I could enjoy Buick Club events like the National meet by driving a real bonified Buick to the meets and chapter events.  I was going to do this while restoring my 73 Centurion, then sell this car later.

However, after the purchase of this Limited, I went crazy and purchased another 3 cars and now am out of room.

MECHANICAL ISSUES:   There are 2 mechanical issues that I discovered. One is leaking valve covers, which causes an odor for about 2 minutes and a slight exhaust tick until warmed up. Neither are considered horrible issues but again, I believe in full disclosure.

The car was photographed this summer but resides in my heated garage and has ever since purchase. It is presently dusty, and the quality of the photos would be much worse so I chose these outside shots.

The Limited was the top of the Line Electra model in 1973 and includes Limited level upholstery and these cars are very well optioned. As far as I know, all options except cruise control and a/c work. The car did not get much use for years by the original elderly owner, so I suspect the a/c and cruise need sorted,  but this is a very original unmolested car. Lights, wipers, horn, etc all work. All four power windows work well.

Driving this car shows no out of balance condition, fantastic power and smoothness, just like a 67,000 original mile car should go.  There is an aftermarket outside mirror on the passenger side which I am replacing with a correct Buick factory mirror and there is a strange 3rd high mounted taillight which I assume the original owner put in.

Seats have no tears and show no wear except some water staining in a place or two. Carpet is pristine as is the dash.  Just a fantastic car. Original wire wheel hubcaps. Perfect chrome and trim. Glass is uncracked and perfect.  Trunk is beautiful.  NO hidden rust.

Opening price represents my cost plus ebay costs if sold. I am not making money on this car.  I can tell you that I comb craigs list for 71-73 full size Buicks and this car is priced way below everything else I have seen with similar mileage and is in better condition then most of those cars. Most of those cars are not selling. Don't pay crazy money for those or even be tempted. This is the car for you because of honest description and amazing original owner condition.

Contact with questions. I have included all flaws noted but would be happy to answer any questions if I can.

The last Buick Cascada unceremoniously rolls off the assembly line

Mon, Oct 7 2019

Motorists in the market for a new Buick Cascada need to act fast. Peugeot-owned Opel has built the last example of the drop-top model in its Gliwice, Poland, factory, and there's no replacement in sight. Buick announced the Cascada's demise in early 2019, and GM Authority learned the model went out unceremoniously. There's no indication that the final example received a commemorative plaque on its dashboard, or is headed to a private collection; photos of it aren't even available. The dealership who ordered it might not know it's about to receive the last specimen of the breed. As a non-luxury, front-wheel-drive convertible, the Cascada was marooned on an island that Buick's rivals abandoned halfway through the 2010s. The Chrysler 200 Convertible and the Volkswagen Eos were discontinued after the 2014 and 2015 model years, respectively. Landing in a class of one likely raised more than a few eyebrows in Buick's product planning division, but it was a semi-enviable position that helped the firm sell about 17,000 units of the Cascada between the 2016 and 2019 model years. It proudly pointed out about 60 percent of buyers were new to General Motors. Left-hand-drive examples of the Cascada were sold under the Buick and Opel banners. Right-hand-drive models joined the Vauxhall range in the United Kingdom, and they wore a Holden emblem in Australia. The four flavors were identical with the exception of some brand-specific trim pieces and powertrains. None will get a successor; the aforementioned carmakers are no longer operating under the same roof, and the global convertible segment is steadily shrinking.  The Cascada's multinational provenance made more sense before General Motors sold its Opel and Vauxhall divisions to PSA Groupe, the Paris-based carmaker that owns Peugeot, Citroen and DS. The French firm pledged to keep producing cars for Buick for as long as necessary, but the former sister companies tacitly agreed to stop co-developing vehicles. The sedan and station wagon variants of the Regal are now the only Opel-designed, PSA-built model left in the the Buick portfolio.

Buick dusting off Grand National, GNX and T-Type nameplates

Mon, 26 Nov 2012

Inside Line reports Buick is planning to bring back some of the more storied names from the company's past, including the Grand National, GNX and the T-Type. Those cars rose to prominence in the 1970s and '80s to become performance legends of their day.
The new models will reportedly make use of the rear-wheel drive platform that currently underpins the Cadillac ATS and all would arrive as sedans - according to an unnamed source familiar with the initiative. Odds are the T-Type and the Grand National would share a driveline, with honest money being on a new twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 as the engine of choice. Word has it the mill will be good for anywhere from 350 to 400 horsepower.
That leaves only the GNX. Inside Line seems to think that machine could get down the road with some help from the all-new GM LT1 small-block V8. The engineers behind the ATS platform have already told us the engine bay is large enough for to accommodate the big eight pot, and since GM is most certainly working on an ATS-V, a slightly less powerful, less luxurious Buick iteration makes some kind of sense. We can't wait to see these things in the light of day.

Opel Insignia, the harbinger of a Buick, rolls out at Geneva

Tue, Mar 7 2017

GM's sale of Opel/Vauxhall to French automaker PSA Groupe will take effect later this year, but new models roll out regardless, as Opel debuted its all-new 2018 Insignia flagship (and Buick Regal clone) Tuesday at the Geneva Motor Show. The midsize Insignia, which bears a great resemblance to a Mazda6, will come in Grand Sport and Sports Tourer (that is, a wagon - will Buick offer a wagon?). It is built in Russelsheim, Germany. As part of the GM-PSA deal, the two companies agree that PSA, maker of Peugeot and Citroen, will continue to supply some Holden and Buick models; Opel models form the basis for several of Buick's core products, including the Encore small crossover and Regal sedan. But as the two brands part ways, we may well see Buicks remaining Buick-y, and Opels evolving away from GM parts and designs. Seeking a little clarity on what the sale of Opel means, we asked Buick and were directed to a statement: General Motors announced an historic agreement to sell the company's Opel business to PSA Group. This is a major milestone and one that we believe will improve the business prospects of each company and deliver significant value to shareholders, customers and employees around the world. Buick and Opel have historically cooperated on a number of product programs. Buick products will not be impacted by today's announcement. We will continue to deliver our product plans with excellence and precision. Buick has delivered three consecutive years of record global sales, we are General Motors' second largest international brand, and we have built an excellent reputation for quality and customer service. The new products Buick will announce in 2017 will help us build on this momentum. The new Regal/Insignia is expected to use the same platform as the new Buick LaCrosse, which is also shared by the Chevy Malibu and Impala. They should once again be available with front- or all-wheel drive. With the Opel versions debuting at Geneva, the Buick Regal will possibly follow at the New York auto show in April. The Insignia will start at about $25,500 and has the now-customary roster of high-tech options such as active lane keeping, a heads-up display, 360-degree-vew cameras, a hood designed to increase pedestrian safety and a new Opel OnStar Personal Assistant to help book hotel rooms on the fly or search for parking spots. The car comes with turbocharged four-cylinder engine options, an eight-speed automatic, and it's 400 pounds lighter than its predecessor.
