This station wagon offers a buyer several opportunities. It can be driven as is, tinkered with and used as a crusier, built into a long haul power tour car, or restored to perfect original condition. As you read on you will find that everything is in place, even for a perfect restoration. This car was assembled at the GM Plant in Atlanta Ga and  sold new at Community Buick in Plant City Fl to a Tampa Fl resident. Some years later it was sold to an Atlanta Ga resident and I bought it a year ago and I too am an Atlanta resident. Subsequently this car has never seen a harsh winter and is totally rust frees. This makes it an excellent base car to begin a project. Nearly everything on this car is original except for wear items. Some items need work or replacing but it's all there.Another great addition to this car is the paperwork. It includes the original window sticker and nearly every piece of paper created since the original sale. Most all receipts are there as well as notes from the original owner on various items he repaired himself. Also included is the owners manual and two factory repair manuals. This car stickered at $21,242.00 when new in 1988. It came standard with 5.0 Liter V8, auto trans, a/c, 6 way pwr seat, power locks, tilt, power fronts discs, power steering, aluminum wheels, power side windows, power tailgate window, tinted glass, dual horns, bumper guards, remote tailgate lock, woodrain vinyl,  and lamp group. Options included pass 6 way power seat, seat back recliner pass seat, rocker moldings, rear window defogger, auto climate controller, elec cruise control., cornering lights, am/fm/cd stereo, power antenna, heavy duty engine and trans cooling, roof rack, body side molding, and a trailer hitch and light kit. Gas mileage was rated at 17/24mpg. As you see, this was a loaded car. Some of these things need attention and here is a list of all the things it will need to be in tip top condition. The paint is dry and faded, 25 years in the Fla and Ga sun has taken it's toll. The vinyl woodgrain is split and cracked in spots, maybe could be patched but it too has sun damage. The vinyl bumper fillers has dried out and fallen away. Some of the weatherstrip is dried out and the dashpad is cracked and sun damaged (but a pad was made from seat material and is installed as a cover). The headliner is loose and flapping and needs to be replaced. All of those things could be considered as sun damage. In addition the hood release cable needs to be replaced (a new one is included). The stereo works but only our of one speaker (?) The cassette player doesn't work at all. The driver window only goes down half way but always goes back up. The A/C blows cold and the heater works. The car drives nice and is very comfy - kinda like driving a sofa down the road. The tires are about a year old and white walls. The carpet is showing some wear at the driver's feet and the driver's seat is showing some wear but nothing is ripped or torn or worn through. The wood applique on drivers window shows some wear and the pull handle on the drivers door is broken. Most of these things are pretty minor and if you have the ability you might say that it's a bit of tinkering to repair these items. There are some spare parts included. These include one headlight bezel, power antenna assy, overhead rearview mirrorr, drivers side power rear view mirror, two hubcaps, speedometer cable (old one works but is noisy), hood release cable, drivers door power window master buttons. There is no evidence that this car has ever been wrecked.  This is a 3 seat wagon with an outward facing rear seat. Once upon a time they called these 9 passenger wagons but this would be an 8 passenger. The 3rd seat has 2 seatbelts and is best suited for children. We have driven this car a bit since we've had it but time has not permitted the required tinkering so we have decided to let someone else have it. You could certainly drive it home although it should have an oil change soon. You can also have it shipped, I will do whatever I can to make the transition as easy as possible, I have a Georgia title in my name, It's tagged and registered as well. Full payment is required before it leaves and you'll have to put at least $500 down at the auction's end if you win, and pay the balance within a reasonable period of time. This is a no reserve auction so the hi bidder is the winner.

Weekly Recap: Ford GT inspires guitar, foosball table, sailboat

Sat, Apr 18 2015

Ford design vice president Moray Callum had just wrapped up a briefing on the interior of the Ford GT last month, but something seemed out of place. He grinned and pointed behind him, "You might be wondering why I have a boat behind me," he said mischievously. It was there because Ford set its designers on a mission to stretch and showcase their talents: design non-automotive objects inspired by the interior of the GT supercar. Callum received quite a response, too. His team produced a guitar, a foosball table (yeah bro!), a racing sailboat, a Wi-Fi speaker and some furniture. As the veteran design chief explained, "It's a really great exercise both to highlight our designers' talents, but also to really see how our design philosophy can work and how you can use it and get a common response back from a worldwide design team." Guitar View 25 Photos The objects have been on display this week at the Salone del Mobile furniture and fashion design fair in Milan, Italy, where Ford has had a presence for three years. There's also a light exhibition that apparently was inspired by the GT, as well. While this might seem a little far-fetched for the automaker, Ford said exhibitions like the Salone del Mobile give its designers another way to be creative and ultimately produce striking interior style. Ford wants this to be a differentiator, as research shows consumers are placing emphasis on the layout and features inside when they're making a decision about buying a new car. It's a little light hearted – but it's also potentially big business. Other News & Notes Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for Buick General Motors product chief Mark Reuss said the Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for a large Buick, though "not yet," Automotive News reported. The underpinnings can accommodate rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and would give Buick the large flagship it lacks. The report jibes with comments Reuss made at a roundtable with Autoblog and other reporters at the New York Auto Show. When asked if Buick had space for a large car on the CT6 chassis, he replied, "Yeah, I think it does. Yeah, I think we do." Buick has revamped its lineup in recent years with attractive crossovers and small and midsize sedans, but hasn't added the proverbial flagship that's yearned for by enthusiasts. Buick surprised industry observers with the stylish Avenir concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year that raised the possibility of a halo sedan.

Buick Encore blitzes first-year sales predictions

Sat, 01 Mar 2014

With its first full year of sales in the bag, it's safe to say that Buick has a hit on its hands with the Encore. US buyers have snatched up 31,046 of the small, premium crossovers since the Encore went on sale in January of 2013, while 97,311 were sold globally (not counting its counterparts from Opel and Vauxhall).
While we liked the Encore when we first drove it, we'll admit, we weren't sure how the tiny CUV would do. In fact, the first thing Executive Editor Chris Paukert wrote about the Encore was, "We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out." But it's done well, and has been subject to heavy demand over the past year, blowing away the estimates of analysts, who, according to an August story from Automotive News, projected no more than 18,500 units would be sold in 2013.
"Right out of the gate, demand for the Encore was high," Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing said in a statement. "It accounted for most of the segment's growth last year and that's because it offers the right safety, technology and features in the right-sized vehicle for many customers."

GM laying off 510 amidst slow Cadillac, small car sales

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

General Motors is laying off about 510 workers from two factories beginning in January, and it could be months before the automaker needs some of that latent capacity to come back on line. A combination of poor sales and high dealer inventories are prompting the cutbacks, according to Automotive News.
The largest changes come at GM's Lansing Grand River plant, where the Cadillac ATS and CTS are made. An entire shift of about 350 workers is being laid off, but the automaker hopes to find positions for some of them at other nearby factories. The decision leaves just a single shift building vehicles there. According to Automotive News, the move is partially spurred by Johan de Nysschen's plan to make Cadillac a more exclusive brand.
The lost shift will likely return for production of the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro at the plant, according to the report, but GM isn't saying when that will be. A previous announcement from the Canadian Auto Workers union indicated that the Oshawa, Ontario, factory would lose the coupe in late 2015 or early 2016.
