1968 Buick Electra 225 Custom Convertible 2-door 7.0l on 2040-cars
New London, Connecticut, United States
Here is a 1968 Buick Electra 225 Custom Convertible being sold at no reserve. The Odometer is currently at 35,406 miles and is increasing as I drive it around town. This car has the 430 cubic inch, 7 liter, 360 horsepower V8. This car runs great down the road, and had a transmission rebuild about 2500 miles ago. Coker Classic white wall bias tires ($185.00 each) adorn the original wheels. The interior is in good shape with some small blemishes here and there. The overall interior is in very good shape. This car will seat 6 comfortably and will be a great cruiser to your local car show, or just a ride to the beach. The mechanism for the convertible top works great and the power top goes up and down with no problems at all. The convertible top needs to be repaired or replaced due to the rear window having come out. The convertible boot is included, but has some imperfections and could be replaced as well. I looked online and the prices range from $199 for just the top to around $500 for the complete kit. The rear window is currently out of the car, but the original glass will be included with the sale. I would recommend a front end alignment for this car. I drove it recently on the freeway, and there is a slight wobble between 45 and 55 miles per hour. The radio is not original to the car. The engine is strong and starts up like it should and runs down the road very nicely. The dual exhaust sounds great and the car gets many comments, smiles and waves. Please see the video to see what it is like to drive this great piece of history. This car is being sold with no reserve, so the highest bid will buy this car! Due to the year, I am selling this 1968 Buick with no warranty. Please let me know if you need any additional pictures and I will do my best to get them out to you. Vehicle to be sold with Bill of Sale, CT does not issue titles for vehicles of this age. Again, this car is being sold at no reserve, so the highest bid will take it home.

GM's MPG overstatement could affect 2 million vehicles
Tue, May 17 2016Late last week, GM admitted that three of its large SUVs fuel economy window stickers did not match their actual efficiency ratings, and so the vehicles couldn't be sold. The stickers on the 2016 Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave said their ratings were one to two miles per gallon better than they should have been. Officially, the number of affected vehicles sits at about 60,000. But Consumer Reports makes a good point: what's up with all of the previous model year SUVs that are basically the same vehicle? To wit: the 2016 model year vehicles are not substantially different than the 2015 or the 2014, or even going all the way back to 2007. On the EPA's fuel economy website, all of these older models will "have better stated fuel economy numbers than the new vehicles in GM's dealerships," Consumer Reports noted. CR's best point, and the one that makes the 60,000 number potentially grow to 2 million if all of the vehicles built on this platform are affected, is that "[i]t seems unlikely that the company would change the powertrain on these carryover models so late in their model cycles in a way that would cause a dramatic, negative impact on fuel economy." GM says that earlier model year SUVs are not affected and the EPA did not respond to CR's question about the potential for more discrepancies. We've seen automakers reverse course before, so if GM has to come out with a mea culpa soon, don't be surprised. GM is rushing corrected stickers to dealers so that the SUVs can be sold again, but a fix for the already-sold vehicles could be trickier to solve. GM announces six new recalls, covering 3.5 million vehicles
Mon, 16 Jun 2014General Motors has just initiated another crushingly large recall, this time affecting some 3.36 million vehicles built between 2000 and 2014 and sold in the US, Canada and Mexico. Once again, the issue surrounds the cars' ignition switches, which can be kicked out of the run position if they're carrying extra weight or if they experience a "jarring" event. In this particular case, though, GM will modify the keys, rather than the ignition itself.
A four-by-six-millimeter hole will be drilled into the key, which will more safely accommodate the weight of the key ring. As is usually the case, the work will be done free of charge. The recalled vehicles include the 2000 to 2005 Cadillac Deville, 2004 to 2005 Buick Regal LS and GS, 2004 to 2011 Cadillac DTS, 2005 to 2009 Buick Lacrosse, 2006 to 2008 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2006 to 2011 Buick Lucerne and 2006 to 2014 Chevrolet Impala. Only the Impala is still in production, and even then, it's only sold to fleet companies.
According to an official statement from GM, there have been eight crashes and six injuries due to this latest issue. As if this isn't a dire enough blow for GM, the company has announced five smaller recalls, covering 165,000 vehicles.
Junkyard Gem: 1997 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight LSS Supercharged
Tue, Mar 21 2017Oldsmobile got terminated by The General in 2005, in part because the marketing suits decided that the first three letters of the marque's name made the cars undesirable to the under-75 set (never mind that 21st-century rappers continue to venerate Oldsmobiles). Not long before the demise of Olds, though, you could buy an Eighty-Eight with the supercharged L67 V6, known as the Luxury Sports Sedan or LSS. These cars are very rare today, but I spotted this '97 in a Denver self-service wrecking yard. These Eaton blowers are now so easy to find in wrecking yards that most of them go unpicked by customers. The going rate for this supercharger is about 50 bucks, because everyone who wants one already has a big hoard of the things. If you have ever wanted to drop a supercharger onto your crapcan race car's engine, now is the time. Performance was respectable for the era, with output of 240 hp and 280 lb-ft. The 3800 was the descendant of the ancient Buick V6, which debuted way back in 1962, so GM had had many decades in which to make it a dependable (though not very smooth-running) powerplant. Yes, you could still buy big ol' sedans with rear drums at the dawn of the 21st century. Did the LSS steal any sales from potential BMW or Mercedes-Benz buyers? Probably not many, though its $27,695 price tag must have looked pretty tempting when compared to that of the much slower $32,960 Lexus ES 300 in 1997. Right now is the best time to make a resolution you'll enjoy sticking with. The reviewers at Popular Mechanics were unable to break the first-year LSS.
