Buick and Oldsmobile introduced the "Aeroback" fastback bodies on the mid-size G body cars in 1978 in response to the hatchback models being imported from Europe and Japan. The American buying public wasn't quite ready for this radical style. As a result, they were only available for three model years. Sales numbers for those years were very low, especially for the Buick Century, so they are a very rare sight today.

This example is a true survivor which was in the possesion of the original owner up until very recently. It was sold new in Coshocton, Ohio and lived the majority of its life in that quaint little town. All original documentation is intact as well as the original keys in the original leather key case from the selling dealer. It is equipped with the one-year only 305 cubic inch V8 which starts instantly and runs smoothe. The automatic transmission shifts crisply and the brakes are great. Routine service has just been done and its performance instills confidence. All systems work as they should, although the cold weather has prevented me from testing the air conditioning.

Considering that the car is 35 years old, it is a remarkable survivor. The paint is over 90% original and still shows well. There are no rips or tears in the original upholstery or carpet and the dash has no cracks. Some of the plastic trim has gotten brittle with age and does show some cracking and some of the exterior chrome has some deterioration. Overall, it is a wonderfully original example of a rarely seen model.

This car is a great entry level collectible which is easy and reasonable to maintain. It's a true artifact of a transistional time for U.S. manufacturers. Lots of retro-cool for not a lot of money, and still a very usable car. This would get you instant celebrity status with members of the Brown Car Appreciation Society. Personal inspections are welcome. Feel free to ask any questions through the ebay system. The lucky winning bidder must make payment in full within six days of auctions' end. As with any car of this age, it is sold as-is. Have fun and good luck!

2013 Opel Cascada

The Future Buick Verano Convertible?
I wasn't wearing a pedometer while in Germany covering the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it's safe to say I walked more than a few miles between press conferences, shooting cars and trekking back to the media center on the first day alone. For this reason, it didn't take much convincing from General Motors for me to duck out of the Messe a day early and drive some of its latest Opel models. No, this didn't include the all-new Country Tourer, but I was able to drive the Opel Mokka (our Buick Encore), the Opel Adam and the Opel Cascada.
I focused most of my driving time behind the wheel of the Cascada, which went on sale in Europe earlier this year, since rumors are swirling that a Buick version of this convertible "could happen soon." Buick hasn't had a convertible since the Reatta, and GM has been lacking a non-performance, budget-minded convertible since the Pontiac brand - and its G6 - was dropped, so adding the Cascada to Buick showrooms could further help the reemerging brand compete in the near-luxury segment. Although the weather was too chilly (and occasionally rainy) to enjoy the Cascada with its top down for very long, I was able to clock a fair bit of drive time behind the wheel on roads ranging from the autobahn to tight roads in small, quaint villages.

2016 Buick Regal prices slashed

Tue, Aug 4 2015

The Buick Regal is getting an aggressive price cut for the 2016 model year to keep pace in a crossover-centric world and its own hyper-competitive midsize sedan segment. The 2016 Buick Regal GS now starts at $35,915, after a $925 destination charge, which amounts to a $3,320 price cut compared to 2015. There's no de-contenting associated with the cost decreases either, and the vehicles are now available with Apple CarPlay. The lower prices follow through much of the lineup. The 1SP Premium model sees a $2,535 savings at $33,415 after destination; the 1SL trim falls $1,000 to $30,840; and the 1SV maintains at $28,915. The decision to make these cuts is meant to better position the midsize sedan against its rivals. "We know consumer sentiment towards sedans has decreased," Buick spokesperson Nick Richards said to Autoblog. CUVs like the company's own Encore are where buyers are moving. "Repositioning the Regal to more aggressively compete in the midsize sedan segment is the first of many steps we are taking in advance of next year's product offensive," Buick sales vice president Duncan Aldred said in a letter to dealers, according to USA Today. The decision probably couldn't have come at a better time because the Regal has suffered so far in 2015. Through July, the company has delivered 10,928 of them, down a significant 19.3 percent from the same period last year. A recent study also found that the model was among the most likely in the US to be sold after just one year of ownership.
