1971 Buick Skylark 455 Auto Runs Well, Gsx Clone, Western Car, Little Rust 1970 on 2040-cars
Bozeman, Montana, United States
This is a 1971 Buick Skylark that came from Washington state about 6 years ago. It was originally a medium blue car with a with a white interior. I had it repainted yellow and black to look like a GSX. I fixed it up about four years ago, put in new front seats, carpet, radio and speakers, door panels, armrests, floor shifter, tach, steering wheel, stall converter, windshield, dual flow master exhaust and turn downs, crager rims etc! This car has a non matching number Buick 455 and automatic transmission. I installed a B&M ratchet shifter to control the transmission. This car has a four barrel carb and runs and drives well. The fairly large dent in the drivers side rear quarter panel was from getting backed into from another car. The damage in the right front wheel well was the result from the wheel bearing going out that loosened the lug nuts and dropped the wheel. I professional body man fixed the rust spot in the bottom of the right front fender by welding in an aftermarket patch panel. The trunk floor pan was also starting to rust a little so it was also replaced. This car has a classic looking aftermarket digital radio with an optional cd auxiliary hook up. I installed four new 100 watt speakers - two in the rear shelf and two in the front kick panels. The front bench seat was replaced with two black leather American racing bucket seats. The windshield wiper switch is stuck in the on position. The wipers work but put need to be plugged in or unplugged as needed. The heater switch does not work but a toggle switch was installed under dash to make the heater blower run. This car is not perfect but is a good fixer upper and a lot of fun to drive. This car also comes with a 1968 Buick 455 that could be rebuilt into an higher performance motor. I will be adding more information soon. Thanks a lot, Jason - phone 406-899-0768 in Montana evenings or leave a message. |

Small number of 2013 Buick Encore models recalled for loose steering wheel
Thu, 04 Apr 2013General Motors has issued a recall and a stop sale for the 2013 Buick Encore due to an issue that could result in the steering wheel falling off on certain models. In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM says that 144 Encores equipped with heated steering wheels could have been incorrectly retrofitted due to a parts shortage.
Needless to say, a loose or separated steering wheel would likely cause an accident if it happened while the vehicle was in motion. The recall doesn't go into effect until April 12, but concerned Encore owners can use the official recall notice (attached below) to contact GM.
GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs
Thu, Aug 20 2015General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently. "GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part. The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. Restyled 2014 Buick Regal adds AWD, Regal GS loses power
Tue, 26 Mar 2013Although the current Buick Regal hasn't even been on the market for very long, General Motors is using the New York Auto Show to unveil an updated version of the sedan in a similar fashion to what we saw yesterday with the 2014 LaCrosse. Like the LaCrosse, all 2014 Regal models will be getting a new look both for the exterior and interior design, but the big news takes place under the sedan's skin.
Except for the base Regal eAssist, the Regal Turbo and Regal GS will both be adding the benefit of all-wheel drive, but there is no word as to how much weight this system will add to each car's curb weight. The Regal Turbo's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder has received a decent bump in output from 220 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque to 259 hp and 295 lb-ft; unfortunately, these same figures are carried over to the Regal GS, which means that car drops from 270 hp. Both turbocharged models (Regal Turbo and Regal GS) will now be offered with all-wheel drive and the ability of sending more than 90 percent of the engine's torque to the rear wheels.
In terms of styling, the 2014 Regal gets similar styling changes found on the updated Enclave and LaCrosse, including reworked fascias, scalloped headlights and a full-width chrome strip spanning between the new LED taillights. Inside, key changes were made to the Regal's cabin technology, such as the instrument gauge cluster and infotainment system. On the Regal and Regal Turbo, a new 4.2-inch color display is available for drivers to see information for the vehicle, navigation and audio systems, but the Regal GS' cabin is slightly different with an eight-inch configurable gauge display. One of the best changes may be the overall reduction in buttons on the center stack, creating a cleaner-looking and easier-to-use cabin.
