Hello All,

Are you looking for that unique hot rod or muscle car that stands out because it is a little different?  I have for your consideration is a 1971 Buick Grand Sport with all the right options that matter.  I have owned this car for 7 years, and I feel it is time to move on to the next project.  I am not selling this because I have to or NEED to sell.

I have started this project pretty much a part at a time waiting for the right time to assemble.  This car has a LOT of power.  This is a true MUSCLE CAR! This is not a "true" numbers matching car. I am not sure if it is a "true" GS 455, but I do know it is a REAL GS by looking at the VIN.   The GS 350 and GS 455 have the same VIN identifiers.  It has ALL of the GS still on it and some extras.

Here is a video of my car at YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw_mzDOQCXs&feature=youtu.be

These are some of the equipment that is on the car:

-original shifter and console
-nice and sturdy bucket seats and rear seat
-the original air cleaner
-tilt column, sport wheel
-factory gauges and unrestored working clock that keeps time
-optional interior light group with map light mirror
-sport mirrors
-455 Buick engine-new Stage 1 (2.25" in 1.75" ex) stainless steel valves

-new Comp Cams Thunmpr Cam, lifters, and springs
-12 Bolt Chevy car rear axle with 3.31 gears-new bearings/seals / non-posi
-Almost complete new interior-new seat covers, door panels, door panel emblems, new arm rests, pads and bases, chrome arm rest backings, seat  plastic backs and sides molded in pearl white, new visors
-new mesh package tray
-disc brakes and new rear brakes
-speed-minder speedometer
-replated console plate
-new windshield
-sport wheel

the bad:  This car is 99% rust free. There is one rust hole in the trunk near the right wheel housing and there is some rust behind the right rear wheel that in my opinion did not need attention.  I did cut out the rust and weld in metal in the front fenders and in one spot under the back seat.  There were a couple of pin holes on the front floors that were treated and fiber glassed. The original GS hood had a major rust spot that I had grafted the scoops onto a Skylark hood.  It is not very noticeable unless you really look hard.  It needs tires-they are dry rotted.  The right fender lower bolts are broken, the left fender is bowed out a little.  This car was factory Lime Mist Green with dark green interior.  The upper steering column bearing is a little worn. The dash bezel needs to be replaced, the windshield wipers work on low speed.  The paint is new, but it has issues. The power steering leaks.

I will give you an option as to if you would like to have the Weld Racing Wheels or the factory 15" Buick Rally wheels and center caps.

The positives: This is a running/driving car, almost complete new interior, very POWERFUL car. It can break the 14" wide tires easily. Adult owned and not abused. Rebuilt transmission-it had a 70 Stage 1 turbo 400 trans, but there was an ear broke off so I had it rebuilt and used a different case.  It shifts firmly.  The interior and trunk lights work except for the map light in the mirror-maybe just a bulb. MSD 6AL ignition box with an HEI distributor. New weather-stripping, new reproduction hood tach, new hood springs.  Although this is not a true GSX, it is repainted a factory color and interior option Stratomist Blue and Pearl White interior.

This car is sold as is without any warranties.  A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours, the balance is due within 7 days.  Balance is due and to clear my bank if cashiers check before picking up/receiving of the car.

Mixed sales results, but automaker stocks rise on need for cars in Houston

Fri, Sep 1 2017

DETROIT — The Big Three Detroit automakers on Friday reported better-than-expected August sales and issued optimistic outlooks for demand as residents of the Houston area replace flood-damaged cars and trucks after Hurricane Harvey, sending their stocks higher. General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler posted mixed August U.S. sales, with GM up 7.5 percent and Ford and Fiat Chrysler down. Japanese automaker Toyota improved sales by nearly 7 percent, while Honda fell 2.4 percent. Still, analysts focused on the potential for Detroit automakers to cut inventories and stabilize used vehicle prices as residents of Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, are forced to replace tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of vehicles after the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. Mark LaNeve, Ford's U.S. sales chief, told analysts on Friday that following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 "we saw a very dramatic snapback" in demand. That said, Ford sales fell 2.1 percent in August. It sold 209,897 vehicles in the United States, compared with 214,482 a year earlier. Sales were down 1.9 percent in the Ford division and off 5.8 percent at Lincoln. Demand was down for cars, crossovers and SUVs. It was not clear how many vehicles in the Houston area will be scrapped, LaNeve said, saying he had seen estimates ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 to 1 million. Ford's Houston dealers may have lost fewer than 5,000 vehicles in inventory, he said. Ford is the No. 1 automaker in the Houston market, with 18 percent share, according to IHS Markit. The company plans to ship used vehicles to Houston dealers and has "every indication we would have to add some production" of new vehicles to meet demand, LaNeve said. Investor concerns about inventories of unsold vehicles and falling used car prices have weighed on Detroit automakers' shares most of this year. Now, automakers can anticipate a jolt of demand from a big market that is a stronghold for Detroit brand trucks and SUVs. "It's got to be a positive for the industry," LaNeve said. Investors appeared to agree. GM shares rose as much as 3.3 percent to their highest since early March. Ford increased 2.8 percent at $11.34, and Fiat Chrysler's U.S.-traded shares were up 5.2 percent $15.91, hitting their highest in more than five years. GM reported a 7.5 percent increase in U.S. auto sales in August, helped by robust sales of crossovers across its four brands.

The Future Buick Verano Convertible?
I wasn't wearing a pedometer while in Germany covering the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it's safe to say I walked more than a few miles between press conferences, shooting cars and trekking back to the media center on the first day alone. For this reason, it didn't take much convincing from General Motors for me to duck out of the Messe a day early and drive some of its latest Opel models. No, this didn't include the all-new Country Tourer, but I was able to drive the Opel Mokka (our Buick Encore), the Opel Adam and the Opel Cascada.
I focused most of my driving time behind the wheel of the Cascada, which went on sale in Europe earlier this year, since rumors are swirling that a Buick version of this convertible "could happen soon." Buick hasn't had a convertible since the Reatta, and GM has been lacking a non-performance, budget-minded convertible since the Pontiac brand - and its G6 - was dropped, so adding the Cascada to Buick showrooms could further help the reemerging brand compete in the near-luxury segment. Although the weather was too chilly (and occasionally rainy) to enjoy the Cascada with its top down for very long, I was able to clock a fair bit of drive time behind the wheel on roads ranging from the autobahn to tight roads in small, quaint villages.

2014 Buick Regal GS AWD

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

"This is just silly," I said as I laughed my way sideways around the icy track at Circuit ICAR, a racecourse, drag strip and kart track at the Montreal-Mirabel International Airport in Quebec. It wasn't the activity that had me cracking up, though. After all, winter driving experiences aren't uncommon in this business.
No, in this particular case, it was the car that had me chuckling. I wasn't in a mad hot hatch or a rally-derived rocket - I was in a Buick. The 2014 Regal GS, to be more precise. Somehow, despite its recent product renaissance (not to mention its distant - yet storied - history of performance models), I was having a hard time believing that this attractive, turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sedan sliding around the Great White North could possibly be wearing a Tri-Shield badge on its nose.
But it was, and slide about it did. While having access to a vehicle in this setting is fairly rare, what's rarer is the fact that I've had so much exposure to it. In Mr. Ewing's recent Volkswagen Golf R drive story, for instance, his ice capades were his first experience with the new model. In my case, though, I was lucky enough to first test the refreshed Regal GS for a week back in December before flying to Quebec to drive it on the snowy, icy, winding roads of Canada's most fiercely independent province and on the track at Mirabel.
