1969 Buick Skylark Custom Coupe Highly Optioned on 2040-cars
Elgin, Illinois, United States
This is for a 49,000 original miles unmolested classic car. I got the car from California and am the third titled owner. The car was originally Poly Green with a metallic green interior. It has an older White color change (the only change from being stock). Split bench front seat. 350-4 engine and automatic on the column. Many options, Options included dash clock, speed alarm, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, air conditioning, tilt column, lighted rear view mirror.
This car is a true survivor and has not been modified other than dual exhaust and color change. It's as original as you can find. Body: All floor boards and trunk are supper solid with no rust holes or weak spots. Body is very solid with some spots of rust just starting. The paint looks good but is showing some wear. There are some pitting and small holes at bottom corners of rear glass, some left rear quarter panel and driver side rear tire housing bubbles (nothing serious and not rotted out). Nicks and scratches. Looks great for a driver and gets looks everywhere but not showroom condition. All glass is good. Exterior: Tires are good. Ralley rims in good condition but could use cleaning and possible freshen up the black paint. All stock (not cheap after market) center caps included. Great front chrome fender, rear chrome fender is straight but has a rust spots and could use rechroming. Rear wheel well trim and rear quarter panel chrome trim is missing. Interior: Great dash, headliner and seats. Carpet is torn by passenger foot area, rear package tray is weathered from the dry dessert. Door panels are good but arm rests could look better if replaced. Rear side panels show aging. Two dome lights in the rear, one is missing. Radio is 100% original but not working. I have an untested spare I bought. Clock is not working, front power seat motor is not working. a/c need charge has slow leak somewhere. I have not looked into the clock and front seat to see if its a simple fix or what. Mechanical: Everything has been inspected by two different shops. Anything needing repair was replaced. Many new gaskets installed. Starts, stops and shift like it suppose to. Here is a list of new or newer parts and service: Battery; rear coils; shocks; brake lines; suspension parts; brakes; fuel pump; tune up serviceable parts; new dual exhaust off stock manifolds with performance mufflers and many other parts. I have at least 5 years of all maintenance records and receipts. Does have one lifter that ticks that was checked out. They said it was a little worn due to type of oil used but not serious enough to fix. This is a very nice smooth running car. No trailer needed. I would not hesitate to drive this cross country! You can save on shipping with this one! Will entertain trades of equal or better value. I'm selling it because I have two 69 skylarks. I've disclosed everthing I can think about. Please ask questions. This said, this car is 45 years old and is being sold as-is. Please text questions to Jim 815-482-0732 |

GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories
Wed, 06 Feb 2013As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.
MotorWeek remembers the nearly forgotten Buick Reatta
Thu, Feb 18 2016The Reatta was Buick's failed experiment to take on European competitors with its own two-seat luxury coupe and convertible. The model only lasted a few years, and US customers didn't see another droptop from the brand until the Cascada. The latest MotorWeek Retro Review takes a look back at the short-lived roadster and remembers it quite fondly. Host John Davis calls the 1990 Reatta droptop "one of the best looking convertibles ever." His sentiment seems a little hyperbolic, but the roadster is definitely an attractive machine by the standards of the time. The smooth front end and pop-up headlights are reminiscent of Japanese sports cars of era, and the profile with the top down is elegant. There are weaknesses, though. The manual roof mechanism appears cumbersome to operate, and the crude digital instruments, which simulate physical dials, make the cabin look too dated. Other than a complaint about over-boosted power steering, MotorWeek enjoys how the Reatta drives, too. Buick's roadster is largely forgotten today, but such glowing praise suggests it deserves to be better remembered. Check out this Retro Review to look back on this interesting experiment from the early '90s. Related Video:
GM sees 'strong year' in 2018, then gold in Chevy Silverado for 2019
Tue, Jan 16 2018DETROIT — General Motors said on Tuesday it expects earnings in 2018 to be largely flat compared with 2017, but that profits should pick up pace in 2019 as its revamped line of high-margin pickup trucks hits the U.S. market. The 2018 earnings outlook was above market expectations, sending GM shares up more than 3 percent in premarket trading. "GM had a very good 2017 as we continued to transform our company to be more focused, resilient and profitable," GM Chief Executive Mary Barra said in a statement. "We are positioned for another strong year in 2018 and an even better one in 2019." GM and its Detroit rivals, Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, are bringing on new trucks at a time when overall U.S. new vehicle sales have been falling, but truck sales continue to grow as consumers abandon passenger cars in favor of pickups, SUVs and crossovers. GM on Saturday fired a new round in the battle for profits from one of the U.S. auto industry's most lucrative segments when it showed a new generation of its Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at the Detroit auto show. The new Silverado, a highlight of the event, is the successor to GM's best-selling vehicle in North America. Sales of the current Silverado rose nearly 2 percent to 585,000 vehicles in 2017. In the coming months, the company will also reveal a revamped GMC Sierra pickup truck. U.S. new vehicle sales fell 2 percent in 2017 after hitting a record high in 2016, and are expected to drop further in 2018 as interest rates rise and more late-model used cars return to dealer lots to compete with new ones. GM said on Tuesday that while it retools a factory in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, to make the new pickup trucks, it will shift some production to an Oshawa, Ontario, plant in order to avoid missing sales in a hot market for the vehicles. The No. 1 U.S. automaker said it will record a $7 billion non-cash charge for its fourth-quarter 2017 earnings related to deferred tax assets. GM said it expects capital expenditure in 2018 of around $8.5 billion, about $1 billion of which will go toward funding self-driving car technology. Last week, the company said it is seeking U.S. government approval for a fully autonomous car — one without a steering wheel, brake pedal or accelerator pedal — to enter the automaker's first commercial ride-sharing fleet in 2019. GM said it expects 2017 earnings per share at the high end of its previously forecast range of $6 to $6.50.
