Bidding is for a TRUE 1966 Buick Gran Sport. Original California car with original black tags still installed. Car runs and drives with the addition of transmission fluid. The car is numbers matching except for the engine and transmission. The engine and transmission were removed from a 1971 Buick Riviera Gran Sport. It is a 455 with a turbo 400 trans. This was my husband's car, He purchased it to do a restoration on, and has since passed away. Car has been repainted in what I believe is the original color (a dark blue) many years ago. At that time I believe the car was sideswiped on the drivers side and the original panels were repaired with bondo. I have a drivers fender, and Hood that goes with the car. It will need a drivers quarter panel and door (both available in another auction of mine on a parts car). Bucket seat interior is in bad need of a cleaning but I think it could be useable and is black in color. There is a B&M ratchet shifter in the car now but the original shifter comes with the car. Tires are rollers on Oldsmobile rally wheels. There are some extra grilles as well as headlight rings that go with the car. This would be a good car to restore. Car has some rust in the usual areas but is very repairable. Car is 99% complete the way it sits. THIS CAR WILL NEED A COMPLETE RESTORATION. Look at pictures for complete description. Email any questions or for specific pictures. High bidder to pay by CASH or cashiers check at time of pickup. A $1000 DEPOSIT IS DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTIONS END BY PAYPAL. HIGH BIDDER NEEDS TO REMOVE CAR FROM PREMISIS WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF AUCTIONS END. HIGH BIDDER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING/TRANSPORTING NEEDS. Thanks and good luck!

*I have it for sale locally, I reserve the right to end listing if I sell it.

GM to offer 2 years free maintance on most 2014 models

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

A day after Ford announced it was scaling back the complimentary maintenance program for its Lincoln brand, General Motors has gone in the completely opposite direction, offering most of its 2014 lineup with free maintenance. Since 2011, Cadillac models have all come with a four-year/50,000-mile complimentary maintenance program, but Chevrolet, Buick and GMC vehicles will now come standard with free maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles for the 2014 model year.
The program will give vehicle owners and lessees free oil changes, tire rotations and 27-point inspections following the recommended maintenance schedule laid out in each vehicle's owner's manual. We contacted GM to see which vehicles were eligible for the program, and a spokesperson got back to us with the following comment:
"All 2014 models are eligible, it's just that the included services vary by model, e.g., Spark EV would not need oil changes, Corvettes don't recommend tire rotations."

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.

Hyundai, Buick dealer apologize in wake of Chinese baby social media incident

Sat, 09 Mar 2013

A very strange story out of China today, as Hyundai and a Chinese Buick dealer were forced to face allegations of using allusions to an infamous child murder on a social media site as a way of promoting the safety features of their respective vehicles.
The original sad tale goes something like this: On March 4, a man reported to police that he had left his infant child in a running Toyota RAV4 while he ran into a supermarket briefly. When he came back out, the vehicle and the child were gone. Later in the week a suspect turned himself in to the police; confessing to them that he had stolen a sport-utility vehicle, strangled the infant that was in it, and then buried the child in the snow.
As you might imagine, the gristly incident was covered massively in the Chinese media. (There was huge public outcry as well, as evidenced by the vigil scene, above.) "Changchun baby abduction" was very quickly amongst the highest ranking search teams of the China's Weibo social media site - an equivalent of Twitter in the English-speaking world.
