1962 Buick Skylark Convertible, very rare factory t-10 4 spd, Hi. Comp. 200HP, 218 cu. in. all aluminum 4 barrel V8.,very snappy & responsive, no oil leaks, smoke or noises. Very dpendable, starts everytime, trans. shifts smooth & direct with strong clutch. this is southern ca. car, no rust even the batt. tray is solid. Has an older repaint from the 80's with a deep shine, shows signs of checking on sides but hood&trunk are fine a 10 footer is the term. All chrome & stainless is very nice & original, pot metal is nice for being 50+ years old, original hub caps in nice cond., all glass is clear & spot free. the convertible top was redone a few years ago and looks new, good fitting, no cuts or tears. the power top operates easily with a switch on the dash. the trunk is also factory original, never resprayed to hide anything, very solid and rust free, original jack & spare included. this Skylark still has bias ply tires from 1966 according to the manufacturer's date on tires, these can't be the originals, the odometer reads 03000, I'm sure it's turned over 100K , don"t know why the old tires unless another set of wheels were used then switched back? the interior is very nice, redone a few years ago to original pattern with correct buttons, bottom of drivers seat and left armrest just redone, it's all clean & bright no fading or cracks in the original dash pad, also has original clock on dash, sometimes mistaken for a tach. electrically everything works, turn signals, brake lights, running lights, a/m radio, with the exception of the clock. Maintenence done recently; valve covers removed cleaned and painted installed with new gaskets, over $500 spent on brake hydraulicsincluding new whl. cylinders, master cyl.& front h. completely rebuilt rochester 4 brl carb [$175], new plugs, wires, points, cap, and rotor. along with new fuel filter & lines and air filter. the original choke still works correctly. two pumps on the pedal and it fires right up! I've been collecting Buicks for over 35 years and had very rare ones but this car is one of the few ever produced with a factory 4 spd., when was the last time you saw one? This Skylark gets the thumbs up every time I take it out, it's a turn key fun family car for local shows & cruises, not a 100 point show car, just a nice driver you can enjoy and be proud to own, with new paint it could be a throphy winner, it gets 25 mpg highway. all inquirys are to be made to Chuck at 541 659 8697, no emails or texts, thanks for looking.

GM raises 2023 guidance on strong sales, higher profits
Tue, Apr 25 2023General Motors beat first-quarter profit estimates and raised its full-year earnings and cash-flow guidance after vehicle demand at the start of the year surpassed expectations. Its shares rose in premarket trading. GM made $2.21 a share in adjusted profit in the first quarter, compared to a consensus forecast of $1.72 a share. Revenue rose 11% to $39.99 billion, it said Tuesday, which was more than the $39.24 billion analysts expected. The stronger results stem from rising sales in the US, even in the face of higher interest rates and inflation. GM executives said demand was strong enough to revise 2023 guidance upward, boosting profit estimates for the year by $500 million to between $11 billion and $13 billion. “We did it with strong production and inventory discipline and consistent pricing,” GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson said on a call with journalists. “All in all, weÂ’re feeling confident about 2023.” The Detroit automaker raised per-share full-year guidance to between $6.35 and $7.35, up from $6 to $7 a share, and said free cash flow would also increase by $500 million to a range of $5.5 billion to $7.5 billion. GMÂ’s shares pared a gain of as much as 4.4% before the start of regular trading Tuesday, rising 3.5% to $35.50 as of 6:55 a.m. in New York. The stock was up 1.9% for the year as of the close on Monday. North American Strength The automakerÂ’s sales were particularly strong in North America, where first-quarter earnings rose before interest and taxes rose to $3.6 billion. Vehicle sales rose 18% to 707,000 in the region. Jacobson said the company originally expected to sell 15 million vehicles in the US this year, slightly less than the 15.5 million annualized rate automakers foresaw in the first quarter. North American demand was enough to offset a weak performance in China, GMÂ’s second-largest market. The automaker continues to struggle in the country, where its vehicle sales fell 25% to 462,000 vehicles in the quarter. Profits from its joint ventures in the market slumped 65% to $83 million. The market has struggled overall in the wake of Covid-19 restrictions and foreign automakers have had to overcome a growing preference for Chinese brands by competing on price, squeezing profit margins. The situation in China probably wonÂ’t significantly improve until the second half of the year, according to Jacobson. GM remains on target to sell 150,000 electric vehicles this year, the CFO said.
GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?
Fri, Jul 21 2017General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.
