This wagon starts, runs, drives and stops perfectly. Excellent handling and smooth power make for an effortless and pleasurable driving experience. Radiator, Fuel Pump, Water Pump, Power Steering Pump, Battery, Stabilizer bar bushings have all been replaced in the last 10,000 miles. Brakes are 60%, Tires 60% This car has never seen salt and has spent it's life in N. Carolina until I brought it to Wisconsin where it spends it's winter time stored in the garage. It needs nothing, everything works as it should. 25 MPG Highway and 16 urban. There never has been a bit of rust anywhere on this car. The drivers seat back has been repaired with a lighter beige furniture grade leather. The front springs are lowered 2". I have the matching lowering springs for the rear but they are not installed. Also have the stock front springs. The wheels are P40 police/commercial powder coated with custom Buick centers. I have the original Turbine Alloy rims and they are included in the sale along with the extra springs. It started life as a woody model but due to the inevitable peeling and fading, the second owner opted to remove all the chrome trim and wood laminate. He then welded the holes, prepped and smoothed the body and sprayed primer and the original white. Then he enveloped the area with Petty Blue vinyl wrap as used on #43 NASCAR race car. If you want a wagon that stands out this is for you. All 4 owners have been auto enthusiasts and have cared for this car with meticulous pride. When I take her out I get smiles, waves and conversation from admirers and car buffs. The mileage of this car does not reflect the condition as it was 90% highway with excellent maintenance. GM cutting Chevy Sonic, Buick Verano production [UPDATE]
Sun, Jan 25 2015UPDATE: A previous version of this story indicated that Orion Assembly would be idled for seven weeks, from February 16 through April 6. This was incorrect. The factory will instead only be idled for the weeks of February 16 and April 6. The story has been edited to reflect this. General Motors has announced that the factory responsible for the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Sonic will be idled for the weeks of February 16 and April 6, with blame being placed on excess supply. The Orion Assembly plant, about 45 minutes north of GM's Renaissance Center headquarters, employs about 1,800 people, but they'll be given a pair of furloughs as inventories of the sub-compact Sonic and premium compact Verano reach 127 days and 84 days, respectively. That works out to 26,600 Chevys and 9,800 Buicks waiting for buyers. According to Automotive News, the compact Chevy sales bested the industry average in 2014, jumping up nine percent versus the the overall segment's eight-percent gain, while the Buick sedan's sales were down four percent. When asked about the shutdown, a GM spokesman told AN that it will "build to market demand," while also pointing out that the company did not comment on production plans. I wasn't wearing a pedometer while in Germany covering the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it's safe to say I walked more than a few miles between press conferences, shooting cars and trekking back to the media center on the first day alone. For this reason, it didn't take much convincing from General Motors for me to duck out of the Messe a day early and drive some of its latest Opel models. No, this didn't include the all-new Country Tourer, but I was able to drive the Opel Mokka (our Buick Encore), the Opel Adam and the Opel Cascada.
I focused most of my driving time behind the wheel of the Cascada, which went on sale in Europe earlier this year, since rumors are swirling that a Buick version of this convertible "could happen soon." Buick hasn't had a convertible since the Reatta, and GM has been lacking a non-performance, budget-minded convertible since the Pontiac brand - and its G6 - was dropped, so adding the Cascada to Buick showrooms could further help the reemerging brand compete in the near-luxury segment. Although the weather was too chilly (and occasionally rainy) to enjoy the Cascada with its top down for very long, I was able to clock a fair bit of drive time behind the wheel on roads ranging from the autobahn to tight roads in small, quaint villages.
