If you are in the market for one of the last of the best cars GM built, you have found a winner. This is Ms. Pearls beloved Buick Roadmaster she bought brand new from Gill Buick in Raleigh NC in 1996. She has been the only owner since then, and has babied this full size Buick like it was a member of the family. I purchased this Roadmaster directly from the 87 year old Pearl, and drove it 850 miles home. Every intention was to keep this wonderful ride, but a new house, and a wedding forces me to cut my time with this Buick short. This car was an absolute pleasure to drive, and got about 27.5 mpg all the way home! I would strongly say this Buick floated down the road nicer then my 1996 Fleetwood I previously owned. Finished in a beautiful Bright white over Adriatic Blue leather. Loaded with options including dual power seats, automatic climate control, keyless remote, wire wheel hubcaps, full sized spare, and being a 1996 the Collectors Edition! The body of the car is in fantastic condition with only a few flaws as listed- small ding on left of decklid, some small dings in left 1/4 panel and a scuff on the right front bumper chrome. The dings would be able to be removed with a paintless dent service. The interior is in great shape also, no abnormal wear or tear, and Ms Pearl was a non smoker. The only flaw on the interior is a few spots on the window switch that was touched up. NO RUST!! Early in her ownership she did have a minor fender bender, it was at low speed and someone just scraped the right front fender. The repair was performed at the Buick Dealer and the quality of the repair is fantastic!! The car has been in Ms Pearls garage since new, and has always been in Raleigh NC. Since Ms Pearl bought this sedan new, she has retained a great amount of service history slips, state inspections, and all the pamphlets and paraphernalia that went with this car. Included are 2 sets of keys, 1 remote, 4 original floor mats, 4 aftermarket floor mats that were over the originals, window sticker, wire wheel key, books and info cards, and all the service history I got. This is a get in and drive it anywhere car! Everything in this car works as it should, Radio, power antenna, power windows, A/C, locks, cruise control, ect... Any questions feel free to email me, or you can call me. Anthony, at 978-930-1004. Please keep in mind I am in the EASTERN time zone. I will not like you much if you call me at 1 am, please keep calls from 8am-10pm EST. A $500 deposit via paypal within 48 hours, remaining Payment to be cash in person, or wire transfer. Car will not leave until payment is clear. I will export this car, and help in any transport to do so (Paid for by you). I will also help arrange shipping within the USA. If you want to fly in, and take another road trip in this car, I will pick you up at Boston Logan Int air port and get you on the road. Massachusetts does NOT issue temp plates, 20 day plates, or any other plate to put on the car to drive it home to wherever you may live. You must bring some sort of plate with you if you plan on driving home. The mileage may increase slightly as we welcome test drives. Make sure the wife will allow you to have this car, make sure the bank you keep your money in has the funds to pay for it too! The car is located in Billerica MA, and has only been here for a few weeks. NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022

Thu, Mar 17 2016

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.

The 2020 Buick LaCrosse we won't get looks exceptional

Thu, Mar 7 2019

GM is killing off the Buick LaCrosse in the United States after the 2019 model year, but elsewhere it lives on. Buried by all the Geneva news this week, GM quietly took the wraps off a 2020 Buick LaCrosse facelift for China. It only makes sense to keep selling the big Buick in the popular Chinese market (now Buick's largest), but we're a tad jealous of what we can't have stateside. The changes Buick has implemented make the LaCrosse into a far more handsome option. Both the front and rear get massaged here. A new horizontal patterned grille, slimmer headlights with a neat LED design, plus new lower bumper surround all work together to provide a more upscale look. The view out back is an even larger departure from the old and somewhat awkward rear end on the 2019 LaCrosse. Smaller, flowing taillights mesh well with the chrome strip on the trunk lid, then dual exhaust outlets offer a sporty flair to the squat rear end. The Buick badge looks cohesive with the look as a whole now, instead of just chilling out alone on the expansive trunk lid. An updated powertrain package goes along with the new looks, too. GM is snagging its new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder LSY engine it uses in the Cadillac XT4 for duty here. It makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to GM's nine-speed automatic transmission. China will be the only market to see this generation of LaCrosse as GM plans to exclusively produce it in its Shanghai facility. The Detroit-Hamtramck plant that previously made it for all North American markets was among those facilities GM announced would close, bringing with it the LaCrosse and other vehicles. Buick Encore, Chevy Trax earn Top Safety Pick from IIHS [w/video]

Thu, Feb 12 2015

The Buick Encore has been a massive sales success practically from the moment it debuted, and Buick recently decided to increase production to keep up with demand for the premium compact crossover. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently put one to the test again, and the Encore earned a Top Safety Pick award. It's the first model from the brand to score the nod since 2013, according to the IIHS, and the rating also carries over to the 2015 Chevrolet Trax. The 2015 Encore scored a Good rating in all of the IIHS' evaluations, including the 40-mile-per-hour, small overlap front crash test. That was a big improvement over the previous model the institute tested, which scored a Poor result in the overlap test. In the first test, about 13 inches of the lower door hinge pillar came into the passenger compartment, and the steering wheel airbag moved too far to protect the dummy's head. Improvements for the latest model year showed six inches of intrusion this time, and the airbags caught the dummy's head well. The dummy's sensors also indicated a low risk of injury. The two CUVs missed out on the full Top Safety Pick+ because the IIHS scored the Encore as only having a basic front crash prevention system, and there was no such equipment for the Trax. To earn the highest mark, models need at least an advanced rating by the institute for this technology. Buick Encore, Chevrolet Trax earn 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK award ARLINGTON, Va. - A small SUV is the first vehicle from the Buick brand to qualify for a TOP SAFETY PICK award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety since 2013. The Buick Encore's newly introduced, lower-priced twin, the Chevrolet Trax, also qualifies for the honor. The Encore's award follows improvements to the SUV's structure for better small overlap front protection. The 2015 model earns a good rating in the small overlap test. In contrast, the 2013-14 Encore rated poor in the test. The driver's space was seriously compromised with intrusion measuring as much as 13 inches at the lower door hinge pillar. The dummy's head barely contacted the front airbag before sliding off the left side, as the steering column moved to the right. The side curtain airbag deployed too late and didn't have sufficient forward coverage to protect the head. In the latest test, the driver space was maintained reasonably well, with maximum intrusion of 6 inches at the door hinge pillar and instrument panel. The dummy's movement was well-controlled.
