Up for bid a beautiful 1949 Buick RoadMaster 4 door sedan. It was previously owned by a true Buick enthusiast and this was one of his babies. meticulously maintained and well cared for. It was always garaged and showed with pride. It has a strong motor Buick Super Eight straight 8 cylinder engine that was completely rebuilt. It starts right and purrs like a kitten with one push of the gas pedal (a unique and cool way to start your car well known to Buick lovers). This was the early version of push button start like we see in new cars nowadays. The tranny has also been rebuilt prior and shifts good. It is equipped with Dynaflow transmission which was the same concept as the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) of today's cars. It was forward thinking at that time and definitely one a kind to American cars of that era. Just smooth- sailing cruising.

Interior has been redone at some point and it shows well, it had new seats, new carpet and pads, new headliner and door panels. It was garaged all the time and was just driven occasionally. It has a very nice steering wheel, and the interior has lots of chrome pieces, dash looks good as well as the gauges. Horn works, all the lights work, wiper works, odometer doesn't, speedometer works, radio is intermittent, it has a couple of rock chip in the windshield, map light works, heater works.

Paint is was redone about 14 years ago Buick green with base and clear coat. A good driver quality but could still get better with wetsanding and buffing. Although an older restoration, the paint still shines very well. It has some dents and pitting in the grill and trims and bottom body. It has a 2" bubbled crack in the bottom of the passenger fender that shows prior repair. The chassis is solid. The front and rear bumpers have been triple re-chromed to the tune of $950 back in '01 and still looks great. It has a good set of wide white walls (must have for this Buick!).  I have folder of receipts not including time and personal labor totaling to over $13,500 invested into this Buick. Overall a great cruiser Buick Roadmaster that is hard to come by and a lot of time and money has been sent that is yours to reap!

Next Buick Regal coming in 2017, could be imported from Germany

Sun, 03 Aug 2014

The Buick Regal is based on the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, a pair of sedans from General Motors' European and British outfits. In fact, over 46,000 Regals from model years 2010 and 2011 were screwed together on the same lines as the Insignia twins, before GM's Oshawa, Ontario factory took over production fully. Considering this closeness, rumors that claim the next-generation Regal - due for 2017 - could move back to Europe aren't terribly surprising. Here's why, according to Automotive News.
Oshawa is home to three other vehicles, aside from the Regal - the Chevrolet Camaro, Impala rental queen and the Cadillac XTS. We already know next-gen Camaro production is headed to Lansing, MI, and that the fleet-only Impala will (finally!) die in 2016. As for the XTS, as AN explains it, sales are so slow that GM will either kill it or just shuffle its production volume elsewhere.
Taken along with the fact that Unifor, the Canadian labor union repping workers at the Oshawa factory, claim GM hasn't made any guarantees about future production at the nearly 60-year-old factory, it seems fairly clear that the Regal's current factory is going to be put out to pasture.

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Buick Century Woodie station wagon

Mon, Oct 9 2017

The Detroit station wagon with fake-wood exterior paneling had a good long postwar run, but minivans and — increasingly — sport utility vehicles were giving such wagons quite a beating in the showrooms by 1992. Buick was down to just two woodies by 1992; here's a discarded example of the front-wheel-drive Century, spotted in a Northern California self-service yard. Buick sold big rear-wheel-drive Roadmaster wagons with Simu-Wood™ siding through the 1996 model year, but the smaller Century was fairly plush. American car shoppers didn't insist on real-looking "wood" on their wagons, although Chrysler went much more three-dimensional with their plastic wood that did GM during this era. This one has the 3.3-liter Buick V6 engine, rated at 160 horsepower. This is not to be confused with the unrelated GM 60° V6, which was available in earlier and later Centuries. If only these seats could talk, they'd tell many tales of sibling battles and spilled fast food. Related Video:

Buick, Lexus top J.D. Power survey, as vehicle service improves overall

Fri, Mar 17 2017

Buick and Lexus returned to their customary place atop J.D. Power's scorecard of satisfaction with dealership service departments. In the Customer Service Index Study, out Thursday, Buick scored 860 on a 1,000-point scale for mass-market brands and has topped this ranking in three of the past four years. Lexus topped the list of luxury brands with a score of 874. Fiat and Land Rover were the bottom-dwellers in the two categories. Buick and Lexus also ranked highly in the research company's overall Vehicle Dependability Study rankings out recently. The customer experience at car dealerships has improved steadily, with the overall industry score rising in seven of the past eight years. And one statistic is particularly remarkable: 94 percent of customers say their car was fixed right the first time. The dominant area of difficulty in repairs seems to be infotainment systems. Only 80 percent of respondents said their stereo was fixed right the first time. And in last month's Vehicle Dependability Study, J.D. Power reported that infotainment systems were the most commonly reported vehicle issue, accounting for 22 percent of all problems reported, up 2 percent from the previous year. J.D. Power surveyed 70,000 customers for the Customer Service Index Study. For the Vehicle Dependability Study, it surveyed 35,186 first owners of 2014 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. Below are charts for both the current study and the complementary overall brand dependability survey. Related video:
