1948 Buick Roadmaster Hearse / Ambulance project.  This is a combo car retrofitted by the Flxible company in London, Ohio in 1948.  Originally slated to be a standard rear-loading Hearse, it was changed during production into a combo car.  This included adding plates to cover the casket rollers, window shades with a cross on them, cot latches and a rear heater/lighting unit controlled from the drivers seat.

As you can tell from the pictures, it's a project.  Someone before me fabbed up a 2x3 boxed frame in the front and added a straight axle.  They also put a ford 9" rearend in it.  Apparently they were going to build a gasser.  Knowing the value of these rare cars, I purchased a 1947 Buick sedan chassis which has the original front and rear suspension, frame rails, inline 8 cylinder motor, and 3 speed transmission. With this other chassis, it is possible to restore it to the original configuration.

All of the special goodies that are unique to the Hearse / Ambulance conversion are there, including the taller hood, dash with rear heater/light controls, all of the doors and the hard to find rear door which is in spectacular shape.  Even the glass is good in that.  I have other extra parts that I'll throw in along with other chassis which includes a bench front seat, and extra grill, an extra steering column, a bag of door seals and some other small items.

Here's the bonus.... I have one or two of the older funeral flags, an ambulance cot, and a casket I'll throw in.... yes, I said a casket.  It's a coffin liner actually, it's what they put inside a casket.  I do have some of the history that goes with this car including manufacturer dates and the name and location of the person who took delivery of the hearse in 1948.

This car comes with a CLEAR VIN MATCHING TITLE!!!!  I spent 2 months and over $350.00 to get it.  No hassles, no messed up numbers,  it's a true 1948 Buick Hearse Title for this specific car.

When I bought this, I was going to build a Rat Rod out of it.  Then after seeing the value in rarity, I collected the parts to put it back to original.  It's not a project for the faint of heart, but it would be worth it to the collector.  I'm going to list this at NO RESERVE simply because I do not have the time for it and I have some other purchases I have to make soon.

I can deliver up to 400 miles for $1.50 per mile.  It is sold as-is, where-is and you are welcome to pick it up, keep in mind this thing is around 20 feet long!

Buick shows US dealers 2016 Cascada convertible

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

The affordable four-seat convertible has become a largely forgotten genre in the States, especially with the death of the Chrysler 200 Convertible. Of course, there are still premium options from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz - not to mention more overtly performance-oriented droptop pony cars from Chevrolet and Ford - but if you want an affordable cruiser, you're kind of out of luck. That may be about to change, however, with renewed rumors of the Opel Cascada (pictured above) making it across the Atlantic wearing a Buick badge.
According to GM Inside News, Buick showed off the Cascada to US dealers last week, with renewed word that the company plans to bring it over from Europe for the 2016 model year. The US version will reportedly be practically identical to its German cousin in terms of styling, but the powertrain underneath is less certain. According to GMI, it may use the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is available in Europe with either 168 horsepower or 197 hp.
The Cascada rides on GM's Delta II platform, which also underpins the Verano, and the latest rumor certainly provides even more evidence that the convertible is probably on the way. Speculation about the droptop started when GM CEO Dan Akerson said last year that the car was on his wish list to bring over. Then, the US trademark on the name was reserved earlier this year, and the release was speculated for sometime in early 2016.

NC dealer falsely announces return of Regal Grand National, Regal GNX

Wed, Dec 3 2014

Like many new car dealers, Liberty Buick GMC gets so excited about its brands' new wares that it puts out press releases announcing when new models are on the way. That's not typically national news, but the Charlotte, NC store has created a bit of internet hubbub by announcing that it will be "one of the first dealers in the country to offer the Buick Regal GNX," and it's even started to add customers names to a waitlist. Only one problem: Despite seemingly annual rumors and calls for such a model, Buick hasn't announced any Grand National models at all – let alone a GNX – and no such models are actually in the cards. The Liberty Buick press release talks in a nostalgic, venerative tone of the original 1982-1987 GN franchise, and goes on to say: "These returning relics will be based on the highly-acclaimed Alpha vehicle architecture currently used in the Cadillac ATS, 2014 Cadillac CTS, and soon to be in the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro. Alpha is the internal name of a General Motors vehicle architecture engineered to underpin compact and mid-size rear-wheel-drive vehicles." In the release, Liberty Buick claimed the GN/GNX models would arrive in late 2015, citing a coupe bodystyle, including a rather fantastical-looking GNX rendering from Bestride.com. Unsurprisingly, none of this is true. Autoblog reached out to Buick for comment about the release, and brand communications manager Nick Richards confirmed that the company had discussed the matter with Liberty Buick representatives. Richards went on to say that the release was wholly incorrect, proclaiming "an agency [for the dealer] picked up a lot of stuff off the internet" and ran with it, including an old Car and Driver story from 2013. The dealership subsequently issued a retraction, with Scott McCorkle, owner of Liberty Buick GMC saying: "We love the idea of the Buick Regal GNX coming back to our showroom but for now, it's only a concept. Bottom-line, the article was incorrect.

Junkyard Gem: 1978 Buick Electra 225

Wed, Dec 21 2016

The Buick Electra was a big, plush, dignified land yacht for the 1959 through 1976 model years, but certain events in the middle 1970s, coupled with increasing sales of imported cars, convinced The General that a weight-loss program would help Electra sales. For the 1977 model year, the big Buick became 11 inches shorter and shed close to 900 pounds. Sales took off. Most of these cars are gone now, but I was able to find this faded '78 in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service yard a few weeks back. Just to be clear, the Buick Electra in the iconic Sir Mix-a-Lot video, My Hooptie, is a 1969 model. That car was much bigger and more powerful than today's Junkyard Gem. This car has the optional Oldsmobile 403-cubic-inch V8 engine under the hood, which was good for 185 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. This is the same type of engine that was badged as a 6.6-liter plant in the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am of Smokey and the Bandit fame, and GM's mix-and-match games with engines from different divisions went on to cause great disgruntlement among buyers who wanted a Buick engine in a Buick. The silver-faced gauges were pretty cool-looking by late-1970s standards. The interior is standard-issue Detroit luxury car for the era: much vinyl, many molded-in fake stitches, plenty of not-trying-very-hard-to-look-real "wood." These cars rode very comfortably and looked sharp, so who cared if the interiors were plasticky? According to Glenn Ford, the '78 Electra carried on an ancient tradition of Buick luxury.
